Pros: The food was superb!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and superb food. Friendly, yet professional & efficient staff. First class service. Welll appointed large twin room with beams and small but perfectly formed en suite High spec fixtures & fittings. Charming olde worlde building with endless niches and landings. A real touch of class in luxurious surroundings.
Cons: Only milk for hot drinks in fridges up and down several stairs on various landings around higgledy piggledy hotel. If fridges not possible in rooms then easier, cheaper and fresher to keep Uht milk sachets in all rooms! Noisy at first and initial view of annexe rooves disappointing as chose back of hotel for fell views and peace and quiet! But selected room with twin beds so perhaps above limited in this respect.

Pros: The room was ground floor with a door directly to outside so no need to go through the hotel, this was very handy as we have two dogs. Warm, cosy and very clean. Bed changed everyday and very conformable. Breakfast was fantastic with good variety and asked if we needed more. The food was to a high standard, with the service very friendly and homely. Beautifully location with lots of walks. Highly recommended.

Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really welcoming and helpful staff, dog friendly rooms and bar and top notch food. Well priced and look forward to staying again.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast Residents lounge
Cons: Poor lighting in the bedroom
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff , very kind and professional including the wonderful chef who delivered an outstanding breakfast .
Cons: The fee for our dog for one night was £20 which we thought was a little excessive.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for shooting, friendly staff, comfy bed
Cons: Heating in room 9 went off in the evening and never came on again so I was very cold getting out of the shower. Made tea in the morning and there is no milk in the room, by the time I read the hotel bumph it was too late as the milk is kept in the lounge for some reason, would be much better to have sachets/pods of milk in the room

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Had a lovley quiet stay. The views were amazing and staff were very friendly. Could not fault it as is was just the kind of relaxing few days we were looking for with lots for our 8 year old daughter to explore. Will definitely return.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I had never stayed in a camping pod before, and was really surprised at how great they are. It was warm, and comfortable for 2 friends. We could have eaten at the hostel or prepared our own meals, both were available. The self catering kitchen is well stocked. There is a small bar. Will definitely come again.
Cons: Ran out of hot water in the afternoon. The hostel was full, with a primary school group...so probably ran out of hot water, when we wanted a shower. We waited half an hour and had a Luke warm one

Cons: having to leave the next day !
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Special place for making familly memorys, both the lodge itself and the area
Cons: Having to go home!

Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location price & cleanliness
Cons: Size of bathroom
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Well worth the 'castle' experience,my daughter loved it.
Cons: Just a niggle, but there was a lot of condensation on the room window in the morning,a mini dehumidifier might of helped.
7.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful setting. Spacious rooms and bathroom. Authentic castle atmosphere and decorations. Good food, available all day and evening. It was the perfect setting for our family.
Cons: The beds were very hard, I ended up sleeping on the sofa. I've had back surgery and a hip replacement and could not bear to lie on this hard mattress, felt like concrete. The staff said they would bring up another duvet for me to lie on but it never appeared, so I had 3 sleep-deprived nights.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fantastic Really enjoyed evening meal and breakfast which was cooked to order. The sense of history of the building. Loved the fact it was such an old building but had been sympathetically updated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our second stay at the hotel, always polite and helpful staff and a beautiful building
Cons: The bath seemed to have a drainage problem and the water flowed back up when toilet was flushed and sink was used.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice property Friendly staff
Cons: Bathroom was freezing cold

7.0 Good
Pros: Food and staff were very good as was the owner. Breakfast was exceptional The room was very small and had a big stain above the bed from a leaking shower
Cons: As above
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent and the owner went out of their way to make us feel at home.
Cons: We could hear the pipes knock when bathroom toilet was flushed in other rooms.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Great location
Cons: Greeted well but as soon as shown to the room it was evident there had been a huge leak from above at some point. Woke in the morning to water pouring through the ceiling. Went to alert a member of staff who looked at me blankly and said she would send someone up. Nobody came before we checked out. Hardly an apology from reception. They discounted my bill by £30 but only because I demanded a discount. My Ruined shoes cost a lot more than that! Very disappointing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Frenchgate restaurant was wonderful and highly recommended if you are staying a the hotel or visiting Richmond. The bedroom had a huge and extremely comfortable bed which made for a great nights sleep. Tea/coffee facilities were ample and of good choice. As breakfast wasn't included in the room fee we cannot comment on it. The owner is very friendly and the staff all polite.
Cons: After viewing the website and photos of the rooms we were a little disappointed with our room. It appears that the rooms are all of different standards even when paying the same price for a superior double room. The bathroom was not as modern as expected and the over bath rain head shower was not powerful. The pipes in the room also banged loudly after flushing the toilet and when other rooms had flushed or turned taps off, possibly due to the water pressure. The TV did not work as it had No Signal, as it was 11.00pm at night thought it a little late to ask. ( Forgot to mention this on check-out) Overall the stay was pleasant. however on reflection feel that the room fee was overpriced.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent room and friendly staff.
Cons: Three course dinner - tho' superb- was a bit too much.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The food.
Cons: Walls quite thin you could hear other guests.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The staff are welcoming and make you feel right at home. The food was amazing
Cons: Nothing
