Top tips for hiring a car at Tallahassee airport

  • The lovely city of Tallahassee is based in Florida, USA, and unlike other major cities in the US, it does not have a public transport system that is as advanced as the more densely populated places such as New York or Chicago. Traditionally, visitors to the big cities can easily get around by hailing a taxicab or making use of the subway. In Tallahassee, your best option for getting around is to acquire a car hire at Tallahassee Airport.
  • The legal age for driving around these parts is 21 years old. Be aware that you must produce your valid ID card or passport when booking and collecting your rental vehicle. If you are between the ages of 21 and 25, agencies that facilitate car hires at Tallahassee Airport are entitled to add an additional charge to your total payment.
  • You will find several toll roads on your travels. The Tallahassee Airport car hire agency policy for this is standard across all of them. They incorporate a toll-by-plate policy, which means that any tolls and service fees incurred while driving will be automatically charged to the same credit card you booked the car out with.
  • Consider the very unpredictable weather conditions in Florida when picking a vehicle for car hire at Tallahassee Airport, from the broad list of safety-approved cars provided on the KAYAK site. It can get very hot during July and August and, for this, we recommend you pick a car with a good air-conditioning system. At other times you will face wet roads from heavy rains, for these conditions make sure your rental car has the right tyre type for slippery roads, and it can't hurt to take out some extra insurance coverage just in case a slippery bumper bashing occurs.
  • Book your car hire at Tallahassee airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

FAQs about hiring a car at Tallahassee airport

  • What is curbside pick-up and why is it beneficial to me?

Curbside pick-up is a great way to reduce foot traffic in the airport terminals. It allows you to arrange with your car rental agent to collect you from the nearest road access point to your arrival. It also allows for you to arrange for the hire car to be waiting for you at a specific point for collection. These additional features must be requested in advance; therefore, we recommend booking them online as early as possible to make sure a driver is available to pick you up or drop your car off.

  • What is an airport facility charge and will it apply to my car hire at Tallahassee Airport?

Most of the US airports do charge an airport facility charge, which is a direct contribution to the airport from the car agent. It is a small fee that helps cover the agent's cost of operating directly out of the airport building. Some of the bigger well-known agents offering car hire at Tallahassee Airport do add this to your booking fees. Look out for those terms and conditions on the KAYAK site, but it is included in the overall deal price.

  • Is it possible to book online now and pay later?

Yes, on the left-hand side of the KAYAK car hire at Tallahassee Airport page, you will see a section for payments. There are two options there. Pay now, or pay at the counter. Tick the box you prefer and then the only car that offers that payment plan will be displayed. Make sure you have checked what type of payments are accepted at the counter if you select the pay-at-counter option. More often than not, depending on the agent, you will need a credit card. Some do take debit cards, however many don't allow for cash payments.

  • Which car hire companies will pick you up at Tallahassee airport?

Car hire companies that offer shuttle or pick-up services from Tallahassee airport to off-airport locations include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz, National, and Thrifty.

Terrible. I got to the airport pick up with my reservation and there was a sign that said sorry no cars. I was stranded and had to pay over 100$ in Uber fees until I found another company that had a car the next day and ended up paying over $100 more for a car.

It was advertised on Kayak as being at the Airport and it was not. The car was dirty and not anything like what I booked (booked RAV-4 or similar, was given a Venue - both literally SUVs but nor comparable in quality)

I was promised unlimited mileage. First it said my rental will be at the airport then changed to another building on blountstown highway. They didn't have the car I requested and had to downgrade to a smaller vehicle. Had to pay .51 extra for every mile over 200 miles. Bad experience for me.

Passenger van

KAYAK
This rental site is NOT at the airport - it’s about 10 minutes away at a used car lot. The van reserved was not available at pickup time, and we had to come back later in the day to switch out a 5 seater car for the correct car reserved (7 seater). There was no transportation to the airport after drop off, and we had to secure our own transportation early in the morning in an unfamiliar location. The tank was only half full when we picked up, and an alert for low tire pressure went off during the rental period. The sliding doors tried to close while someone was in their way, and the engine took a long time to turn over whenever we started it. Very unsatisfactory experience.
