Cons: We needed to stay indoors and rest on the Saturday morning. But this was constantly interrupted by loud, noisy and boisterous staff in the corridors cleaning other rooms on the floor we were on. We found this really annoying. Not to mention a couple of knocks to find out when the room could be cleaned in spite of the DND sign at the door.

Although they did not bother me (I was with my wife), and generally seemed very discreet, I still don't understand why management tolerates it, as it might dissuade customers, including me if I'm alone, to stay in the future.

Cons: A duty manager who doesn't know or have no clue what hospitality is, is very bad, i and my friends have decided not to visit this hotel again. it's not the end of the world they may think, however I thought it's my obligation as a Genius level 2 traveler with booking.com to inform frequent travelers like myself to avoid this hotel if they can, it's not worth the money, it's been the second time this happen to me whereby I get charged for late check out than the fare for the whole night on their own website. and the unfriendliness of a duty manager named Jinga scandalous for a manager in the hospitality industry. so people, think twice when booking this hotel.

Pros: I stayed here for 6 nights. Their service and hospitality is outstanding. Starting from the security at the gate till the manger on duty, everyone are very friendly and Happy to serve. Even before checking in they have just received me very well and offered a welcome drink understanding the pain or long distance travelers. We can feel the empathy in there service. The kitchen staffs gone extra mile to serve my dinner even are there service hours with no hesitating. Even housekeeping staff was having her own power to decide for giving extra Complimentory water bottle when asked for with no silly additional approval's :). There was two incidents if forget my cash pouch in the room and still my money was safe.. Breakfast buffet was very will panned it was multi cuisine with good options for Indians. The manger was so helpful in giving us insights about the city and giving contacts that can help us on our line of business, which was an extra mile. As I checking out in the mid-night they haveb provided me a complimentary dinner even without asking for it. These guys they know what they are doing and they are doing it in the best possible way. Overall my trip was so successful and this team has their contribution towards it. Thank you guys

It is walking distance from everything , you can go to Kariakoo market by walk , or to Znazibar Ferry and there are always many modes of transport. The rooms are well appointed and very spacious. The furniture is not modern but for me it added to the charm of the place. The terrace was immense and the view awe inspiring especially in the evening. The staff ware absolutely wonderful, especially the reception staff, very efficient and kind.

Cons: the restaurant is huge but badly lit, it looked like it needed work. Breakfast was very basic. Electric plugs in the room are not easily accessible, although plenty. Bed linen needs upgrading. Bathroom had a nice multi headed shower, however only normal shower was functional.

The reality was: ad 1) nobody came to pick me up which - at 3 AM at the Dar es Salaam airport - was not a positive experience ad 2) the guy at the reception desk knew nothing about my early check-in, so I had to show him my e-mail correspondence with the hotel to get a room Otherwise, the hotel was OK, nevertheless, because of the above-stated experience, I would not go there again. Very smelly bathroom-the smell of plumming. The hotel is nice, but needs renovations. The staff was nice, breakfast was ok.

Cons: There was no water the first morning and till check out no manager came to apologise and all but rather using the local staff to get payment and levy. It was very pathetic and would never suggest anyone to stay there. Due to the issues faced, I missed a meeting and there was no remorse. Manager stayed within the Hotel but never came to speak to listen to our concerns. Pathetic Service from the Manager.

Pros: Apart from its "easy to remember" name, the hotel appears to be just the same as it was when we first stayed in 2009. Dinner and breakfast are served in a large room on the first floor and there is lots of choice, although my pepper omelette with a sausage on the side turned into a pepper and sausage omelette! There is also a Thai restaurant on the top floor. Rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable and the bathroom facilities are very good.

Cons: Niggles: A series of brief powercuts (none more than 3 minutes - welcome to Dar es Salaam!) seemed to break my TV - after flipping through a couple of channels it would just freeze - no picture, just the menu, and even the power on/off button wouldn't respond. The only way to recover was to power off the "master switch" (conveniently and annoyingly located next to the bathroom lightswitch) which would reset it. Fortunately, an HDMI jack is provided on the desk, so I was able to play some entertainment from my laptop. The master switch for the whole room being in the same bank of switches as the light switches took a little bit of getting used to. The room had two air conditioners, with separate control panels: remember to set these to the same temperature or (if in Auto) they will fight each other noisily, as one of my colleagues found. I set mine both identically and on auto, and they were quiet and the temperature was very consistent. Laundry service ringing the doorbell at 0850h on Saturday morning after a night out was probably not the best timing, although also my fault for failing to display the "Do not Disturb" on my door handle. At breakfast there is a live piano player, who is pretty good, although the piano has been heavily muted in an effort to control the volume level, and it sounds a little dead. I felt the piano would have been a lot more appropriate in the evening than at breakfast - whilst it's pleasant, and not especially loud, it can be a little intrusive if dining with colleagues : at the far end of the room, it was a lovely background to breakfast, so choose your seat wisely!

Cons: When we stayed here 10 years ago, it was simply the New Africa. It now seems not to know whether it's a Sheraton or Marriott hotel. We were given upgrade to from the harbour view we had previously confirmed to a view of the building next door but as it was a one-night stay we didn't mind. We were warned that two beds had been installed and this created something of an obstacle course. Soon after our arrival maintenance staff came to adjust the front door. Later by a further two staff came to "check the status of the room."

Cons: With the on going renovations, the Breakfast room has been closed and moved to the 9th floor. Stunning view of the Harbour but the quality of the breakfast has gone down a bit. Also I am a frequent traveller to this hotel and I still had to pay my hotel booking amount in advance instead of settling my entire bill on departure as previously done.
