Generally good overall experience with Alamo. No issues with vehicle rented. The car I reserved wasn't available when I arrived at Alamo. The worker arranged for an "upgrade" that upgraded the cost by adding $70 to the cost of the rental, not including fees. Wasn't expecting this. Wish I had other options but needed the rental car so agreed to the extra charge. That was the biggest negative with this rental experience.

The vehicle I reserved had an inoperative AC compressor. Alamo quickly substituted an equivalent vehicle but the new car was EXTREMELY dirty from the previous family and had not likely been cleaned by Alamo. I was in an rush to depart for our family trip so I could not take the time to have Alamo clean the car. During the course of the rental period, I detailed the interior which was filthy and washed the outside of the vehicle. As I was returning the car at Orlando International Airport, the attendant asked me if I was happy with the rental. I explained what happened and what I had done. He instantly apologized and then offered to compensate me with a discount on the rental. I was overwhelmed and shocked that he would offer that to me without my asking. It shows how serious Alamo is about customer satisfaction. I would rent from Alamo any time I am on travel. Keep up the great work!

If the rental booking could automatically, and CLEARLY notify customers that they absolutely have to use a credit card for their booking, it would save alot of headaches for customers and your alls reps. When I booked mine with a debit card, the confirmation made it seem like everything was fine, and even said to bring the credit/debit card I booked with. It knows I'm doing a way trip. So in this day and age, an automatic warning would be awesome, instead of being told "its the policy" and I should have read it 3 paragraphs down

I rent a car with kayak 4 day before and I arrived to the location they told me we don’t have any reservation for you and the last minute I go to Rent Car from different company this company they don’t know what they doing. Customer service was not good. We had a flat, we were in Tennessee and it was raining and when we call for assistance they told us that since we had a complete tire in the trunk we had to change the tire. If we have to change the tire again then we had to call for road assistance. It was a complete disaster.

I returned the car early and still got charged the full rate. The only reason I us d them , is cause everyone else was booked and it was a emergency. It was $350 more than everyone else. If it wasn't a emergency , I wouldn't have even used them. I will never use them again. The lady at the pickup was very friendly and helpful, but that doesn't make you for the rest of the service.

I initially reserved some kind of Jeep. The website offered an upgrade to a BMW X2, which is a lot smaller. At the counter I told them I needed to carry 3 people and luggage. The back only held 2 suitcases, so the third had to go in the back seat. The only option they had to get something bigger would have cost a lot more per day. I should not have upgraded. The employee only gave me options for full coverage or basic coverage, not no coverage. I think that is very deceptive. After arriving at my hotel I called about exchanging it for something bigger and was told I would receive a call or email in 24-36 hours. I never received a call or email. Overall I was very disappointed in this company.

I was charged for an extra day and numerous other unknown fees. The agent wants able to print a receipt, so the surprise came when I checked my account and requested an ereciept. The price ended up double what I intended to pay.

I rented 2 vehicles online and nothing was listed about not accepting debit cards. When my husband and son arrived, they were told we couldn’t use a debit card. The only credit card we have has a low limit (our choice) and wouldn’t support both rentals after the “hold” fees were added. Avis finally allowed us to use our debit card after making my husband feel like they were doing us an enormous favor. He also had to do all the paperwork again so what was done online was useless. Then they had his name wrong and after pointing it out, she crossed through it and told him to sign. I had purchased the additional insurance online but she insisted that we hadn’t and added it again so now I have to fight that. We also paid for a gps which came with a broken cord which we didn’t know until we were on the road so we had no way to charge it. This was the poorest experience we’ve ever had renting a vehicle and we won’t use Avis again.

I typically do not write reviews, but this experience was beyond irritating. I went to the counter already pre-checked and on the budget app, which made no sense because I had to redo everything again to counter and added a bunch of items to my bill without even asking me, for example, he told me to click the screen five times. OK if I did not read it it said I was being charged for refill gas, which was an additional $90 so please be weary once you go to the counter and they will try to get you for everything if you don’t pay attention to your bill when I got to the vehicle, it was disgusting had stains all over the seat doors inside were all sticky, I would never run this place again

When I booked with you all the description said "Unlimited Kilometers" But when I got to the rental car place they said they would not honor that. They tried to charge me another fifteen dollars and change PER day for miles over 150. This is very dissatisfying, they said that it is because Kayak is a third party... It is really disappointing that your listing was wrong and the rental was going to be over three times the price I paid on your website. I always love Kayak and your my first place I look for hotels and cars and flights... but this was bad.

I was charged for gas when I brought it back full. The pick up was late and I wanted a late delivery but I was charged. They tried to give me a lessor vehicle when I arrived and I had to fight to just get an equivalent to what I ordered rather than a smaller vehicle. The attendee tried to sell us a private deal so I suspect you already know that your staff also work for themselves. This has really left a bad taste with me. I would be glad to share my gas receipts less than a mile from the drop off. Never again Fox and I will share my story with others.

We came 2 hours early to get our car and had to book an additional day (to have a minivan instead of the car we had chosen) because we were told they had no cars available (even though the lot was full). The main reason we chose this rental agency was to save money, so this defeated the purpose. Also, although there were 3 people there not busy, no one offered us help. More importantly though, the check engine light came on multiple times during the trip, and the car smelled kinda bad (like it hadn't been cleaned in a while). We're going to be sticking to Enterprise or National from now on.

The reservation company took my money and made the reservation with NU Car. When I went to pick up the car they refused to give me the car stating that I was a Florida state resident and they did not rent to Fl state residents. Says it is in their contract and it absolutely was not!!!! The reservation company could not find it either. I did get my money back but was without a car again. Will never use NU Car again. Reservation company was awesome, not NU Car.

We originally booked our pick up time for 8:00 pm, but circumstances changed so I phoned to see if the pick up time could be changed to 3:00 pm. The person I spoke to said she would have to see if there would be a mini van available at 3:00 pm and put me on hold for a short time. When she returned to the phone she said, yes , we could change the time as a mini van would be available at 3:00 pm. Nothing in the original booking prepared us for the fact that the rental office was 15 minutes from the airport and when we got there at 3:00 pm, we were informed that there was no change to our rental time and that we would have to wait until 8:00 pm to pick up our minivan. The only option we were given was an upgrade which doubled the rental amount. Since we were sitting in the middle of nowhere and had five hours to wait, we felt we had no choice and paid for the upgrade. This extra charge put the rental amount on par with firms who actually have their pick up stations at the airport. The employees that I spoke to were pleasant, but overall this was not a pleasant experience as we ended up paying double what we had budgeted for. I will not use NU Car again.

No point in asking pre check in only to ask for the same info at the desk. Waiting in line 20 minutes to get car is unacceptable. I was not aware I rented a fully electric vehicle until I got to the desk to check in. After agreeing to that I walked out to garage to have to wait in line again. Came to my turn and no electric vehicle available. I was good with "upgrade" to another vehicle. Overall experience was horrible. I won't rent from dollar again.

The check in process was poor, at best. I was told to go back inside after the kiosk associate told me I was in the wrong to see her first. This was incorrect. I had a contract as a VIP member and the sign posted about check in prior to 11am was correct which it wasn’t. Once I received my car and logged it with SunPass and loaded bags I was denied exit due to a registration issue/given the wrong 3 row SUV. I was asked to drive back, see the same rude woman and get a new SuV. Unload. Load again. Re-register with SunPass. Oh, except this time the car they gave me was the body of a three row SUV without the option ticked for the seats themselves. Lovely, as I needed the seats for my family and not so much for the extra bag space. I left. Made it worked but so aggravating. No more Dollar. Worth spending the extra money for SIXT.

There was a long (2 hours) queue when picking up the car at the airport. When picking up the car it had been cleaned with a very smelly cleaner. The smell did not go away during the entire 3 week rental. The dropping off was easy and fast - so it was totally opposite experience between picking up and dropping off the car. The deposit paid when picking up the car was returned within a few days.

I was charged an additional $450 for insurance that I declined. I didn’t notice until after I left the airport, so I called the 800 number. I was told that I could go to any hertz location and they would fix it. The next morning I went and found a hertz location near where I was staying and they said that I had to return to the airport (an hour away). The employee said that they get 10+ people coming in everyday with the same complaint so apparently this is their regular practice! I will be disputing it with my credit card company.

Advantage Car Rental will try to take advantage of you. I was subjected to relentless hard upsell tactics at 11pm at night. I resisted, and paid the agreed-upon price; a colleague gave in and ended up paying 3x the reservation price and was upset for days. First: The "Compact SUV" turned out to be a European-sized mini hatchback, NOT an SUV by any stretch of anyone's imagination (Kia Kona). It's just a compact hatchback sedan. So I got relentlessly pressured to: 1) Upgrade the car, being told that nothing will fit into it 2) Buy insurance - everywhere else I tell them that my credit card covers it, and that's that; here they demanded to see my actual personal policy before agreeing to not charge me extra $$$ 3) rent a SunPass for tolls for $10 a day, threatening that if I go through a single toll without it they'll charge me $50, and lying that there are no options to pay cash at many of the tolls, etc. It was RELENTLESS. The guy must have cut his chops in timeshare sales. Truth went out the window as he kept coming up with all the problems I'd encounter if I didn't pay up. If you're the type who can sit through a timeshare pitch and not buy, you can remain steadfast and get the agreed-upon price, which is admittedly great. That seems to be their business model - advertise a low price and then beat extra cash out of you like a pinata when you arrive, tired, from your flight. The return process was very easy and they didn't pull any tricks as I worried they might. So, would I rent from them again? Yes, but I'd go in mentally prepared.

I was supposed to get a compact SUV, they gave me a Nissan Rogue that is considered a Compact SUV. They charged $50 for it and have been refusing to reverse this charge due to the confusion about its applicability. The gas level at pickup was almost full, 15/16th perhaps. They recorded it as Full. When I returned the car back, it was FULL. I have asked them to refund the additional gas charge and I'm awaiting their confirmation.

First of all, you never told me where to pick. I guess I never read the emails, but you never told me where to pick up the car so when I got to Florida airport, I tried to reach out to you and there’s no nowhere to call and it was voice automated is my first time to run from you guys so it be nice to receive a phone call the day before or two days before to tell me where to pick up the car And I thought it was actually gonna be easy to pick up the car at the airport that would be easy, but I am new to renting cars so it would be nice to get feedback but I’m hoping that you guys could reimburse me the $90 for fee but if you can reach out to me, my number is 9175181031. Bottom feeders. Swindling every penny they can. And going as lying about the toll roads in order to get me to pay an additional $77 which ended up being 1/3 of the total cost and I didn’t even need to add it to the rental. Very greasy company. And had a thug blocking the exit with a van to check paperwork. Very uncomfortable experience. And the deposit was $500 instead of the $300 that is clearly stated online.

We got a nice van from Ace and it had everything is was supposed to, but the price didn't end up being what we were originally quoted. We expected taxes and fees, but the agent added a CDW charge when we rented it even though we said we declined insurance because our auto insurance already takes care of that. When we picked up the van, he explained they would hold our credit card number for incidentals, so I signed the paper not really knowing what the CDW charge was. Later I found out it was for daily collision protection, even though we had declined that. When I asked for the charge to be removed they told me I had to write to the manager. I wrote him twice and never even got a reply. The other negative experience we had was getting picked up by the shuttle at the Orlando airport. We were told the shuttle comes around every 25 minutes, but we waited for 70 minutes before the shuttle came, after I had called the rental office 3 times.

The experience was easy and quick! The car was perfect for my needs. The only thing that was a “surprise “ was the pressure to purchase for $10 a day to use the transponder in the car . They actually added &12.99 a day! Their prices beat any I looked for and the negative reviews I had read were not the case in my experience! I will definitely use them again.

NextCar is a huge rip-off: it advertises a cheap rental price, then jacks up the price for add-ons the customer often has no choice but to accept: 1) Florida residents pay MORE, and they don't get "unlimited mileage" (per the advertisement), 2) the rental agency forces the customer to provide ACCESS to their car insurance website (password AND login), or provide the full documents of your auto insurance policy. The auto insurance card won't do: you have to have THE FULL POLICY document with you. 3) If your own insurance has a large deductible, then you HAVE to buy the agency's expensive insurance. The upper limit is $500. Otherwise, they take out $500 from your credit card which they say they'll pay back after 30 days--just long enough to incur a charge of INTEREST on the payment.l 4) If you don't pay the agency in advance for tolls, you can't pay cash at the toll booth. The rental agency toll device will trigger if you drive a toll road, and you'll pay $14 regardless of whether you paid in cash. All of this is "negotiated" when you go pick up your car, and the negotiations can take more than AN HOUR, so wait time and long lines are ridiculously, maddeningly long. It was a horror.

Prices were jacked up mich higher than normal. Staff offered me a small SUV over the sedan I originally reserved but it turned out to be a lousy bumpy ride, intolerable at highway speeds due to the vibration at 75mph and greater. On the plus side, it didn't break down

Cleanliness. I had to hit my breaks hard once and trash slid out from under the passenger seat.

Waited over 1 hour to be picked up at the airport after calling about 10 times only to hear the bus would be there in 5 minutes, got to the pick location another 2 hours to before we got car, place was crowded and you had to write your name down and wait to be called [nobody instructed us] of the procedure, thanks to the other guest that was waiting too. Then they asked for not insurance card, they wanted something else from insurance company that i had to call and get (they didnt specify, they asked for proof of insurance when booking). Guy that checked me in was not pleasant, the same person that checked you in was the same one that had to run outside, find you a car, and check and rub back in to check you in. He told me if i go to Hertz its the same wait so oh well because I complained of waiting so long to be seen. I will never use this place again. Another thing I have yet to receive my $500 deposit and I returned the car from March 18, they claim its the bank and its normally 10 business days. Dont waste your time, you get what you pay for. Company is a joke, go elsewhere.

The car itself was fine. Pick up was complicated and delayed, and after waiting more than 30 minutes, I had to call for pick up to the offsite (kind of creepy/ isolated) site. And then we began the haggling- extra “compulsory “ insurance, extra daily charge for tolls, my car insurance not being sufficient. Essentially attempts to quadruple what I expected to be the “total” rental price. It’s such a racquet.

The pricing was utterly "un-transparent". CarRental8.com charged us $277 for the week. But, in the fine print (though without specifying the amount), it turned out that OC Car Rental had other charges -- to the tune of $222 (a $20/day charge for "mandatory supplementary liability insurance" -- despite the fact that I am covered by my regular auto insurance - and a $35 "car rental center fee" and a $25 "enhanced disinfecting cleaning fee" and a $14 "surcharge"). This is truly despicable behavior by a car rental agency, and I do plan to report it to the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.

Our flight was delayed by several hours and we were still in the air at the time of our rental. When we finally landed and got in touch with the company, I was told that my reservation that I had already paid for had been canceled since we hadn't picked up the car on time (due to something completely beyond my control.) I traveled for business and processed this reservation online through Kayak with a business card. When I landed at the airport to pick up my rental car, the woman at the counter informed me it was not paid for just "reserved" and they couldn't charge the same card. A rental car for an entire week is A LOT of money to pay when you are under the assumption it is already paid for. This was definitely not communicated clearly in the booking process. I have rented cars several other times at a variety of places and this was not the process previously. When I returned the car to the airport, not a single counter was manned. All counters had signs pointing to each other saying "if no one is at this counter please go to the (insert company name here) counter".....but nobody was there. I finally settled on putting the keys for my National rental in the Enterprise dropbox on the counter because it was the only safe way to return it.

I reserved this as a referral from Kayak to Rentalcars.com. Their website, along with the confirmation email stated a "Total Cost" of $111.72. When I picked up the car, the agent presented me with "additional local costs" amounting to an additional $71.18. This included an unheard of "Pickup Fee" for $10.00 and "Dropoff Fee" for $10.00. I have never been charged these from any rental agency, anywhere in the world prior to this. None of these "additional local" charges were listed anywhere before pickup. The contract stated "Total Cost" of $111.72, and that's what I expected. In addition, the $250.00 "security deposit" has not been refunded or credited to my credit card as of yet. I have tried all morning to reach the agency to inquire about this. They answered only after about 30 minutes of putting me on hold. The representative could not give me any reasonable answers about the additional charges, but said the security deposit would take 5-10 business days. I will monitor that. Please remove Global Car Rental from your list of agencies. They have committed what I believe is a classic case of Bait and Switch.

Pickup took tom long.need more shuttles instead of waiting 20 minutes to get a shuttle and then a long drive to the pickup location. Was waiting before the gentleman after cut in and the staff didn’t say anything so I had to wait another 15minutes. Then it was my turn and they said I could leave without full coverage which i had to purchase extra. I knew i could use my personal wasn’t asked if i wanted to use that. They said yes you can and they need my ID card with my full declaration page.Couldn’t find my declaration page so they stole $200 dollar for the insurance from me. Never every again

Forced charges for insurance. Lied about tolls. Upcharges were more than the rental with no option. Agent recommended we rent from a major company next time.

Pros:

Drop off was super easy and fast, staff is well trained and professional. first car we got had a strong cigarette smell we just went to the front desk we communicated to the front desk and without hesitation they changed our car. i was very pleased.

I paid for an SUV. I never got one. Instead, I got a beat up 8 year old car, that they likely bought from an auction. The bumpers were hanging off. Dents and scratches everywhere. They ignored my complaints. This company is UNKNOWN to anyone AVOID

there was not much I liked. the car was in relatively poor condition: NO spare wheel Car needed a service warning light on airbags damage to rear fender no trim on drivers side wheel arch charged an additional $115 for insurance I did not request (require a refund)
