Pros:

The drop off was nice and quick

Cons:

The car looked to be in shambles, with three different hubcaps. The form said there was no damage to the car, but the paint was chipped, there was a dent, and the front bumper was loose. During the rental period, the tire management system complained about empty tires.

Cons:

Trying to reach customer service before and after to ask questions was very difficult. If we had been able to ask in advance where exactly we were to go at the airport it would have made the pick up much easier. Website not helpful either

When I made the reservation, the confirmation email did not make any mention of a $500 deposit and for certain provinces it’s $1500. I’ve rented cars in the past and it’s only been $150/$200 so I was really taken back by that upon arrival. On the way to my destination the windshield wiper fluid was completely empty, that was within an hour of driving the car. It’s obviously the dead of winter in Quebec, windshield wiper fluid is mandatory and they also did not leave a brush in the vehicle so after snowing for 3 days and freezing temperatures, I couldn’t even see out my blind spot while driving back. These things are basic. I had to call 5 times, I finally reached someone and they put me on hold and then hung up. When I called back and got a hold of someone they had no answers for me, said I had to email and wait 2 days for a response from the owner.. disappointing

Routes car rental does not allow its cars to travel beyond provincial borders. This was not specified explicitly in the rental agreement and they did not honour the rental on the spot causing me to have to pay 4x the price at another rental agency on the day of to get a car. I still have not received a refund. Stay far away.

The policy isn’t clear I made the reservation and when I want to pick up the car they said that I’m 20 I’m not able to take it thats so poor never again.

Our rental was a total disaster. We lost prepaid because when we finally got to the Routes off airport location (which was not clear when we made the reservation) they refused to rent because I was over their company age policy (even though I wasn’t when I made the reservation).

Pros:

Helpful staff and got the car I want even when it was not available thru Thrifty (took me to Hertz).

Cons:

Car was not available (fixed by taking me to Hertz) and then there were two counters to wait at for Hertz. Why not do everything at one counter? Or even better do it online and skip the counter.

They were very slow with each person in the line ahead of me, finally my turn, They couldn’t get the “System”to work after having asked me for my license and credit card 3 separate times. After the rebooted the computer they were finally able to print out my rental agreement. Finally the paper work is done and they tell me “we’re just waiting for your car maybe 30 minutes “ after waiting more than 45 minutes I decided to cancel everything and get an Uber or something. That’s when they say “oh no your car is here” they give me the keys and a spot number of where I would find the dirty smelly car I’ve been getting jerked around to get.

Car was new, clean and in good shape. The pick up and drop off was a breeze. Very friendly staff all around, and best price I could find among all the rental companies. There was no stress for the entire period. Thank you, Thrifty!

Pros:

I picked the car at airport and was told I could drop it at any of the 2 locations downtown (with a map). What they did not tell me is that those 2 locations are not in business anymore...After searching for a while and calling roaming at my expenses I found 1 new location. This is basic customer service but Dollar just doesnt have it...

- the car was clean

Cons:

- I advised the rental office that I was arriving late by calling them. They told me it was fine. When I arrived they gave me a whole story about how I shouldn't pick up the car late. - the rental was in Montreal, Canada (it usually snows quite a bit in December) and there was no snow brush in the rental I had to buy one - windows were always fogged up - I've been driving in winter conditions for 25 years and never had such a bad experience
