Pros:

We thought we were renting from the airport location. My mistake, so we took Uber over to the correct place. We were supposed to have a mid-size SUV but when we got there, there was only a Camry and a compact SUV (Ford Escape, I think). We had 5 adults and luggage for skiing, so these were not an option. The staff there was very accommodating and did find a van that was finishing up a repair at a body shop. One of the employees took us to get food during the 45 minutes or so that we waited, so that was nice. I'm not sure the tires on the van were Colorado traction legal. We were traveling from Colorado Springs to Breckenridge. I saw a digital highway sign that Traction Law was in effect, but was not sure what that meant until someone explained later. Made it over the pass near Alma Ok but later that night had to get a push in Breck. Since the law was in effect , the van was required to be 4WD (which it wasn't) or have snow tires, which I don't think it did.

Cons:

Getting the right vehicle.

Office seemed disorganized and unprofessional. There were two other customers ahead of me and I waited nearly 20 minutes to be waited on while the agents chatted with customers. Drop off was very smooth, but pick up was agonizingly tedious.. Also, I was not aware of that. I had to go offsite out of the airport to pick up the car. I had been a Budget customer previously, and intend to go back to Budget next time.

Hertz was the only company in town that had minivans available, so I didn't have a choice on where to go to rent. In the past, I have rented a car for a full week and only paid at the most $600 for unlimited miles. This rental was 4 days, and it cost me $1200, so the value for the experience was definitely not seen. Unfortunately, I had to have this size vehicle, and no other options in town were available. That being said, the entire experience of pickup and drop-off was excellent. In and out rather quickly, and back on the road. The vehicle we received was amazingly comfortable with just enough bells and whistles to make the trip quite pleasant. One thing I love about renting is I get to preview a much newer car without buying and see if I might be interested in purchasing one a little bit later in the future. I definitely loved this vehicle and was sad to have to return it. The only other inconvenience was the location for drop-off, as there was nothing within 50 miles of my home, so I had to drive 80 miles one-way in order to return the vehicle. It would be nice if there had been other options. I definitely felt quite limited and restricted with this rental, and I don't like not having choices to get the most out of my monetary investment.

When I went to go pick up the car, the advisor indicated no cars were available, and there were 15 in the parking lot...all reserved I assumed. I then had to go the airport, and none were available there. Luckily I was able to get a car from National at the airport. I wasted an hour, lost a hundred dollars on the deal, and won't deal with Hertz again. I just wonder if they are the ones always touted but if they don't want to rent because it's a one way or something else, they should have been polite and declined altogether. You can't tell me in this world, that if your terminal is done, that you can't check reservations by calling another Hertz location. I say Nonsense.

Cons:

The car I used was very uncomfortable but that isn't hertz's fault. I'll know now not to get that vehicle again.
