Dirty dirty dirty car....smoke & weed smell in the car was so bad we had to leave windows and roof cracked at night to air it out...when home, i had to have clothes we brought for a wedding all dry cleaned due to smell of weed and cigarette. My experience with Thrifty was great. My problem was with Kayak. I reserved a full size 12 passenger van through Kayak who confirmed the reservation for me. When I got to the rental desk they stated they never had that size vehicle in the Portland airport fleet. They showed me that I had only ever rented a minivan. 12 people in a minivan? Girls at desk did not seem interested in their Job. Did not act like they wanted to serve you. The owners manual for the car we were told when we turned it in was in the trunk under the spare tire. there was a problem with the warning message on the dash that said to see manual but we could not find it. Please let people know where manual is. No help on orientation to the vehicle we were to drive.Reviewed 7 Oct 2026

I reserved an SUV (Nissan Pathfinder) for a 3 day rental. When I arrived, the agency only had 2 cars; a minivan and a Hyundai Sonata. Neither one fit my needs. After 10 minutes of discussion, a Volkswagen Taos was returned. The agents prepped it for me but provided a disclaimer that the car's interior was dirty. I agreed but due to limited time, had to take it. The car felt undersized for what I rented but I was told over and over that it was in the same car class. Excellent overall. I had to wait a few minutes after arriving for my 8 am pickup due to several 8 am bookings, but I was driving away by 8:30 am. Returning the vehicle at 8 am a couple of days later went smoothly. Staff was courteous and friendly.Reviewed 4 Oct 2026
