Newark rental experience was awesome. Unfortunately my rental was supposed to be picked up at Laguardia airport, and the Hertz team from LaGuardia is about the most disrespectful you could have find anywhere in the USA. They forced me to get an Uber and made me go to Newark to pick up the rental over a technicality that I was not responsible for. I spent 3 hours in the whole process, and I experienced the worse level of customer service at an airport’s Hertz rental location there at LaGuardia. Needless to say, I’m not using Hertz car rental services ever again… Sincerely, Tony Zapata.

Great but as I drove away I realized the car was not clean, Fingerprints all over the touchscreen crumbs on the floorand there was leftover food items in the back seat floor.

Cons:

I made the reservation and paid in advance, only to find when arriving at the counter that I’ve been placed on a Do not rent ban. The staff at the counter could not tell me why or help me any further and made me call a customer service line, where I waited for 20 minutes on hold. Since I was in a time crunch, I had to walk away and rent with a different service. Why did Hertz not flag my account when I paid for my reservation in advance, instead of wasting my time when I was already ready to pick up the car? Who knows. I still have not been able to get through to their specific phone line to figure out why my account has been blocked, after calling multiple times. I last rented with Hertz a few months ago, and never received any notice about my account being blocked.

This was a bad experience. I booked the car through kayak. The company text me the day after for my personal information to expedite my checkout. The day of pickup they told me they need to do a soft credit check because I live in New Jersey. You knew that yesterday when I responded to the text. So my frozen credit can't rent a 7 passenger mini van. Not like a email or text with the policy could have prevented that. I could have unfrozen my credit 24hr before but it's ok grandma and grandpa can ride in the trunk or roof of my car. If I was from Russia I could have rented it an put in a container and been back home before the next shift started. Just another business with great customer service. Thanks for saving me $600

They just want to make extra money wherever they can from customers by charging for late drop off though when we picked up car we asked about return time. Very unprofessional. Never rent another vehicle from there and we told same thing to friends and family too.

The gas tank was not filled all the way and when I pointed it out to the attendant he claimed that it was…. It was a little more than 3/4 full and he didn’t want to deal with it. Will not be using this company again.

Their customer service was really very good. Unfortunately they had no cars to honour the booking. They did try to help and we're very willing to do so. But there were no cars.
