Bad experience! The car they rented me literally died, the battery couldn't even be jumped by the roadside assistance they sent. I spent 3 hours on my daughter's 18th birthday waiting at the car, dealing with the AAA people who were excellent and professional. Then Dollar sent me an Uber to take me back to the airport rental center (30 minutes away) to get a replacement car and when I arrived, I had to wait in line with all the people coming for new rentals, then the rental person couldn't access my record (I had a case # I gave her) and asked me all these questions that were already asked and answered in the case record. She briefly yelled at me for leaving the car unattended with the car keys in it - which is EXACTLY what the Dollar people on the phone told me to do since it was dead, couldn't be jumped, and couldn't be towed from the garage with the tow truck that was sent since the garage height was too low for the truck. Finally they gave me a new car and it has no trunk, which I wanted since we were driving around cities (NYC, Boston) and I didn't want to leave luggage or bags visible in the car due to risk of break-ins. But at that point I was missing my daughter's birthday dinner and did not want to take even more time away to get back in line for a different car.

Drop off was really easy, the extra costs made the rental price far too expensive

Hot, cramped room. Ordered 1car, good price, had to upgrade because that car was not available. Very disappointed. More money. Did not know that I had to pay for additional driver. Also extra money per day. The gentleman that helped me was pleasant. My bill was much higher than originally quoted.

It took me over an hour (waiting inside, w/ lots of other people, only some in masks--including some maskless staff) to pick up the car. Almost left to take an Uber. Seemed to be a Dollar-specific issue--the lines for Sixt and another company were well-managed.

Had a mechanical issue with the first rental car, but Dollar was very accommodating and worked to resolve my predicament immediately. Much appreciated.

First, I drove around the airport for 15 minutes trying to find the pick up place. It was in a trailer in the parking lot and the only signage said “Drop off Only”. The guy at the counter in Newark was super nice so this is not his fault but there was a long exceedingly slow line. They appeared to not have a record of one customer’s reservation and couldn’t find the key for another customer’s car. I was in line for at least 30 minutes and once I got to the front, the second of only two people working there left on break. Again, I don’t blame her! Bad management. The biggest issue is that my car sucked. $277 for a 24 hour rental and it was a totally stripped down Hyundai that was dirty - looked like coffee spatters all over the upholstery and the ceiling of the car - and the tire pressure gauge was illuminated. I should have refused the car but I was already late and couldn’t face going in and starting over. Drop off in Hyannis wasn’t fabulous either. I again waited forever even though there was only one person ahead of me. Why no key drop? Is this still 1994? The guy actually went to the parking lot to check the car. Who even does that anymore? Like I said, bad management. Sorry, Dollar. I’ll be back at Avis next time.

The only positive thing from this experience was the customer service rep who helped me sign out the car initially. She was courteous. Some of the negatives of the experience include: -trash left in the car from previous renters -EZ pass not operating correctly -return experience (no one was available to assist and we were provided no instructions for the return) -damages were not documented when I received the car. I had to figure out how to document the damages myself

Had to wait more than one hour in line to pick up car because there was literally 1 person for literally 30 people in line. Wipers were old and visibility was dangerous in the rain during our trip. Expensive overall.

The vehicle was new and clean, had good fuel efficiency, and performed well.The pick-up experience was terrible. The dollar counter had a very long and slow line. The staff requested redundant personal information that had already been entered into the online rental system. This wasted a lot of time. No other rental car companies had a line because they were able to process their rentals very fast. Many other companies simply have the keys and vehicle ready for quick pick-up and the rental agreement is provided via email. Dollar needs to do better before I decide to use them again.
