I thought I was renting with Alamo, but no--it's Locauto and good luck finding their rental office at FCO. Took a long time. The car was OK (a small Fiat hybrid SUV), but it was their last automatic-they say that most Americans accidentally ask for a standard shift car, but I'm not sure how that happened. We filled up the car outside of Rome, but Rome is huge and I planned to make the final top-off near the airport, but there were no gas stations on the highway or airport entrance road. We were tired and needed to make our flight, so with the gauge at JUST ONE TICK below full (that would be about 15/16 full, or perhaps even 31/32 full), the agency charged me $50 Euros plus $3/liter for bringing the car back not-full. It sure feels like a gotcha designed to make more money off of tourists. Aside from that, the car was OK (its suspension, at 16,000 km driven already) sounded and felt broken.Reviewed 26 Oct 2026

Terrible. They don’t take Apple Pay. Thrifty does and shifted to them. Will never rent from Alamo again.Reviewed 26 Oct 2026

very positive - easy pick up and drop off. The car I reserved wasn't quite ready when I arrived, so they offered me a larger substitute at the same price or a discount for waiting.Reviewed 22 Oct 2026

Stunningly easy, convenient, fast and a new 2027 vehicle. As President's Circle with Hertz and Avis, I worried about this experience. (Those had no cars for my last minute dates.) Alamo was extremely fast at the counter. Quick for pick-up. Vehicle is great shape.Reviewed 15 Oct 2026
