Staff seemed to be all backpackers with varying skill. Check in took two hours. The room was not ready on time. Many of the bathrooms were old with broken doors etc. The second floor Mens showers and toilets were renovated and good.Hot showers in the morning was hit and miss. Three out of the five showers I had were cold. The kitchen was ok but had broken ceiling lights and the fridges and shelves were stuffed with abandoned food. Clean out is on Sunday but no system in place to identify who has gone so everything is overflowing. The hostel was very noisy with banging doors and inconsiderate guests. Despite signs everywhere, some smoked or vaped in their rooms. The cupboard in our double room had both doors hanging off. Location was good to town etc. Surf n Snow in reality looks nothing like the photos. With a bit of maintenance, money and effective staff it could be a good place. If we could have got something else we would have moved.
