Car wasn't ready at the time I reserved so had to wait for another vehicle. Then when I got the car it was dirty and had trash from the prior customer. Also, the facility in downtown DC was dirty. The underground garage where you pick up the vehicle had busted old furniture that they just had sitting in one of the parking spaces. Even though I completed the early registration before arriving at the rental car center, there were no agents available, and my vehicle had not yet been assigned. All Budget and Avis customers were directed to the same queue, resulting in a wait of more than 1.5 hours at 2:00 a.m. At the end, I left by car ride and cancelled the car rentalReviewed 16 July 2026

The original vehicle we picked up had a tire with a slow leak and the passenger seat was very stained. We returned it the next day and were given a different vehicle with no issues. The rental agent was very nice and helpful. Upon return of the vehicle we were charged a refueling fee even though we filled the tank at a station just outside the return center. Customer service was very helpful in getting the charge removed.Reviewed 15 July 2026
