Budget had no cars when we arrived on time for our pre-paid rental at MSY. After waiting in line with 15 other clients (other vendors had no lines) for over 40 minutes, the agent laughed and said that they had no cars and it might take FOUR HOURS. She had never addressed the line to announce this actionable information so that we could explore other options. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. Worst possible marks for Budget's vehicle scheduling system and agent training and professionalism. Budget hast lost a customer for life.Reviewed 10 Aug 2026

I was supposed to pickup a luxury big suv but they didn’t have any at the time we arrived. There were seven of us plus luggage. We ended up getting a huge Ford transit van which, ultimately the kids loved for the space, but I hated driving it. Very poor. I tried to save some money with a cheap rental from budget and ended up regretting it. arrived to the desk for car pickup and encountered a long line of customers with understaffed budget team and vehicles not available. Was told over 2 hour wait time for vehicle. I cancelled online because i could not wait 45+ minutes to get to the front of the line to cancel with the budget employee. I got a rental from hertz immediately, where i have presidents circle status, but i cost roughly an extra $100.. Then budget charged me for their rental and i have initiated a time consuming process to try to recoup my charges from budget.Reviewed 2 Mar 2026

I reserved my car 3 weeks in advance for 12/26. Upon arrival, and after waiting for quite some time, we were informed that they were out of cars and we’d have to wait for 1-1.5 hours to see if they had any come back. We were put on a waiting list along with people who just booked a day or two prior and ended up waiting 1.5 hours to get a car which was smaller than what we paid for and smelled like smoke. Our luggage barely fit in the back. It really delayed our trip to see family and friends and was not what we paid for.Reviewed 3 Jan 2026

It was 95% self service. Had several problems and unable to reach anybody who could help.. not getting help caused me to miss flight & get a hotel room. They charged me $200/day keeping the rental car that started out at $50/day!!!Reviewed 10 May 2025

There was a line up probably 35/40 people deep, one girl at the counter got up and put all her stuff into her purse and left leaving two girls to fend for themselves…once I got through the line up (approximately 1hr) I got a piece of paper proceeded to the car pick up area, which was complete chaos, no lines no way of telling where your vehicle was or how to get it, THE most unorganized car rental place I’ve ever been to in my life…after an hour and a half ( I ordered a small Toyota Corolla) I was offered a VW SUV which at this point I didn’t care, I just wanted to get going, so when I looked the vehicle over prior to driving it, it wasn’t that clean, still had some dirt and mud, there was another lady who had ordered a small car and she was offered a full size SUV…I don’t think I’ll ever rent a car from this place againReviewed 7 Mar 2025

Budget was a huge disappointment. I had a reservation ahead of the day I wished to rent. When I went to the counter, I was told no vehicles were available at the moment and that there would be a 1-2 hour wait.
