Felt like a scam
Pros: The manager and staff on duty went outside the rules Hertz to get us a car for the price Kayak had booked for us.
Cons: The pickup address was the Philadelphia train station, and we were at the airport. When I called Hertz company I was told that I'd need a new reservation through them, which was more than twice what we would have paid had we been at the train station. We had no idea how to get to the train station. We were told that the hertz office there was closed for the night, but if we could be there at 7:00 in the morning, we would be able to pick up the car before our reservation was cancelled. It really felt like we were being extorted, because Hertz would not simply change the address.

Car was fine, customer service was terrible.
Pros: The car operated smoothly for the most part and was all we needed for a short trip.
Cons: I had an unfortunate dilemma in that i made this reservation weeks ago, and then a week before the pick-up my credit card was cancelled due to fraud. On site I was told there was still balance due and that I couldn't use another method of payment outside of another credit card. When I got my partner to finally take a cab over herself and use her credit card, we had to cancel my reservation and start a brand new one because I couldn't pay the full amount. The new rate popped up double the original rate. Throughout this interaction the sales rep was unhelpful and her demeanor was uninterested. While we were checking a price with a competitor in the same venue she went left on a short break and her partner rang us up and brought up yet another even higher price. We had to wait till the former rep came back to get the 2nd price back. Overall this experience left a bad taste in our mouth about using the Hertz service.

Poor service, both on counter and phone.
Cons: I went to the counter and the service people refused to give me the car which I reserved, and they refused to show me any document which they can use to deny my reservation. And they screamed on me for leaving or they would call the police. I called their customer service for claiming, they told me they would call back. But several days passed, nobody connected me anymore!

Car to pricey for 2days 18hours
Pros: Basically nothing about the car. However, I did have great service from Constent and Destiney behind the counter. Great customer service from them.
Cons: Car way to expensive for 2 days 18 hours. It was a switch out from the rental I was going to use to drive back to Colorado. That SUV was wayto big so at the counter Constent offered me $508 something and I got on line and got it for $450 something. That's even more than a weekly rental. I'll go back to Budget or Avis where they charge you by the hour, not the week.

Cons: I stopped by the Hertz at 30th Street Station in Philly. They ran my credit card, and it was declined (because I hadn't known an automatic payment had gone through). I paid it down immediately and my card would have been fine to use, but the Hertz management wouldn't let me run the card again, and also would not let me use a debit card. I was faced with having to take a cab across town to get another credit card, or return the next day to use the same card again. I chose to take my business elsewhere. I was very disappointed and will not be using this Hertz location again.

Don't expect a clean car
Pros: responsive front desk gave me a nice replacement car - still dirty on outside and not cleaned recently on the inside, but i liked the Ford Fusion hybrid with carplay.
Cons: first car was dirty inside and out. They explained that they do not clean cars but offer a $5 credit if i take the time to go to a car wash.... NOT ACCEPTABLE nor explained in any contract.
The staff did volunteer that they do expect the car interior to be clean. In this case, the car was dirty outside and inside. Ketchup on the back seat was still sticky, so it was probably not too old. Pretty clear that Budget staff never inspected the car.

Pros: I liked leaving the lot
Cons: - Waited 20 minutes for the shuttle. Saw 3 Enterprise, Hertz, and Avis shuttles before the Budget shuttle arrived. Asked driver if they were understaffed and he said yes, he was the only one working. This was at 4 pm on a Wednesday.
- Counter had 2 people working with line out the door. Asked to speak to manager. Took 10 minutes. Manager unprofessional and condescending. I was told car was a silver Corolla. When I got out to the spot it was a black Kia.
- Manager did not want to be bothered with the inaccuracy or the fact the vehicle was not present. He couldn't do enough to get rid of me. Will not be going to Budget again.
- It is obvious that the facility is understaffed do to the incompetency of the management. The old saying "The fish stinks from the head down" is so true here.

Pros: The fine print in contract
Cons: On return I was charged $13.99 more than the Kayak price. When questioned, the customer representative was very rude, Apart from rudeness I saw two issues. One, the fine print in the contract and reasoning behind such an unfair practice. The contract stated a "mileage" surcharge will be added if the car is not return with full tank if the miles driven in less than 75 miles. I have made sure the tank is filled up a few miles before drop off. The terms were not clear and did not appear in the terms when I signed up through Kayak. Two, the mistrust of Budget. Three rudeness has no place in dealing with customers even if the customer is upset.
Cons: When we got to pick-up in Pliladelphia, they said it was booked somewhere else and not the airport. The charges were then much higher due to the difference in taxes. Kayak then offered an insurance which enterprise does not accept. We had already been charged for it. Very deceiving overall.

Pros: Friendly, easy, and quick service. From the phone call / voicemail I received confirming my reservation, to the pick up, to the drop off, I had an all around great experience with this Enterprise.
Cons: The car I rented had zero windshield wiper fluid when I picked it up, and I rented it specifically to drive in wintry weather, so when I got on the road and tried to clean my windshield, I was a bit annoyed. It was an inexpensive and quick fix at the first gas station I stopped at though.

Excellent customer service and a great vehicle
Pros: I had an absolutely wonderful experience renting a vehicle from this Enterprise location! The staff was very helpful and friendly. The vehicle I got was of exceptional quality. The gentleman who helped me when I picked up the vehicle even called me the next day to check and make sure everything was going well. I return to Philadelphia frequently and will most definitely be renting from the same location again.
Cons: Being charged $28 for gas when it was 3/4 full. There were no gas stations at Philadelphia Airport (when we expected there would be), and we couldn't leave the lot to get gas once we arrived. It costs $20 to fill the tank.

Bait & Switch
Cons: I made the purchase on Kayak using the parameters in the app and booked online. Once they had the shuttle take me to the store, the price doubled, though they could clearly see the price booked from kayak, they refused to honor it, saying the problem was with kayak. After protesting, I eventually had to leave because I was short on time. Weeks later, after filing a complaint on their website, kicking a storm on Twitter, my issue remains unresolved. Never again.

Pros: The Lady at the counter was a sweetheart and made the rental process clear and understandable. The shuttle drivers were courteous and friendly and kept the buses clean.
Cons: The car was clean but it looked as though it was done quickly and it was not done carefully. Streaks on windows and rearview mirror.

Pros: The return at ABE was great. Iesha was great. Friendly , information and helpful.
Cons: Sharon was not. She told me the extra charges were all taxes. The price of the rental was $20 more than I was quoted from kayak. She could see the disappointment on my face. Her response was, did you want the car or not ? Come to find out, she added nearly $10 because I pick the car up 40 minutes earlier than I had planned.
Cons: They told my wife she had to pay an upcharge to get the car we reserved. They also have yet to refund the 200 dollar deposit. This definitely is not what was advertised.

Shuttle never showed up
Cons: Shuttle never showed up; kayak lied about the location because it was no where near the airport; when I called in desperation to find the shuttle they put me on hold for 15 minutes, then I gave up and booked an enterprise car on my cellphone and jumped in the 7th enterprise shuttle that went by. Luckily there are so many options and one is never stuck without a car.

Spirit Airlines of car rental
Pros: The vehicle was ok. I can understand the "close to the car you want" disclaimer. I booked a Tahoe but received a Traverse.
Cons: Where do I start? First, the security deposit on renting the vehicle. I am well over 25 and used a major credit card. $200 security deposit that was not stated at the time of booking. Secondly, there is a fee for driving the vehicle out of the tri-state area. Really!?!? The fee is $15 per day, but the young lady gave me a $5 discount. Thank you. Right there I should've just leave but I need to get to my destination. Thirdly, you have to treat the vehicles as if they were your own. The vehicle needed an oil change before I even drove off the lot. Again I should've said something, but I needed to get on the road to NC. The vehicle needs to be cleaned before I received it and the previous driver must have through a back road somewhere. The grill and side mirrors were covered in "bug juice" even after they cleaned the car. Mind you the vehicle is white. Everything is visible so I take the vehicle to the car wash to really clean the car. In summation, all total fees need to up front and the vehicle needs to be maintained.

Cons: Took 45 min to pick up car; counter was understaffed. Took 15 min to drop off car - had to go into counter and wait. Also, if you decline the insurance, they charge several hundred $$ to credit card and refund the credit balance after you return car - kind of shady, I think.

Pros: Not much to be happy with the service other than I guess a speedy return process with no added extras added on the bill.
Cons: Originally when I arrived in Philly there was no shuttle service which is necessary as they are offsite. Luckily a friendly Budget Rent-a-car shuttle driver that passed by 3 times saw me still waiting about a hour decided to help me out and get me to the location. Then the location was locked up by that time I got there after waiting over an hour mind you. I was standing in the proper #2 Rental Shuttle area as I had seen many other rental company shuttles stop there and I called the 800 number several times to confirm. The manager was about to leave when he happened to notice me at the front doors and got me the car. He said I must have been in the wrong area and that "he never gets out of there on time." Not the best thing to hear when you are traveling on business and still have another hour drive ahead. I used the rental car sparingly as well despite a strong lemon smell in the car masking what seemed to be vomit. I have been traveling for work all over the US for the past 3-4 years and this is the worst service I received since that time.

Quick Work Trip
Pros: Car was clean and met expectations. Staff at the front desk were helpful with working out any issues.
Cons: The PHL location is not with the other rental cars, it is off the airport grounds. The shuttle was quick, but still a bit of a hassle.
Make sure to check your receipt! They had the wrong daily price when I first picked up the car (which they easily corrected) and then at return there was a $3 fee for what appeared to be mileage even though I had unlimited mileage and they said they didn't charge for that. I was directed inside and talked with the staff and they immediately took the charge off and said they weren't sure what it was for...

Pros: It's one of the cheapest companies to rent a car from in the city. They location is not near the airport, but the confirmation email i received gave me the address so I could Google where the company was before. They do have a shuttle to and from the airport, and my car was clean and had a full tank of gas. I rented an economy car and waived the insurance so the price wasn't too bad.
Cons: They charged me $30 extra than what I was quoted online. The shuttle took a bit too of time to pick me up at the airport, but it was a busy evening so that's understandable.

Pros: Price, however they were comparable to a couple of other companies. The associate I dealt with was also nice to deal with.
Cons: The Thrifty rental site was a few miles off-field from the airport, requiring getting on and off of I-95 to get to it. That distance, coupled with the shuttle's poor frequency (they seem to run every 15 minutes) had me waiting both for pickup and at their location and curbside for long periods of time. Before I was initially picked up for rental, I was waiting curbside while every other rental company had several shuttles running before I'd ever seen even one Thrifty shuttle come by.
They charged my credit card a hold of $350 that took several days to clear after I'd returned the car. I have excellent credit and a clean driving record but I've never seen any other rental car company hold funds on a credit card. It seemed to be standard practice for them as I noticed other customers enduring the same. Considering how far off-site the location is, you have the option to either deal with it or waste significantly more of your time waiting for a ride back to the airport and choosing another company.

Cons: Its a few miles from the airport, so there's a bit of a shuttle delay in both pickup and drop off. Worth it if you're getting a better price.
Their refueling fee is 10 dollars per gallon which is above and beyond any other rental agency. (For example, Alamo charges around 3 dollars a gallon, which is about a dollar surcharge of the current market rate.)
Pros: As mentioned in their commercials, Avis tries harder. Good service and easy pickup and return.

Pros: The car was brand new, less than 500 miles. Easy check in and drive out. We did not purchase the pre-pay for gas, as there is a station less than 2 miles from the airport, and we filled it, and had a receipt on the way back.
Cons: Upon returning the car, we got our receipt and there was a 16 dollar charge for fuel, because we drove less than 75 miles. The check out guy called it a "computer glitch" that they need to fix, he was not interested in fixing it there, as there were a lot of cars coming in, "I will take care of it later". That was not acceptable as I had no confidence that he would remember to do this, so he had to take me inside, get on the computer and re-charge. That one ALSO had the charge so he did it again. On reviews such as yelp, this gouging has been going on since at least before 2013, so, what "computer glitch"? It is a shameful money-grab.I would have given a level 5 for this review otherwise, however I found this practice so disingenuous that they only earned a 2

Badly treated by corporate customer service; good
Pros: The car itself was nice, though there was a little bit of trash left in there when I picked it up. The people at each branch were friendly and efficient. In Greenville, SC, where I returned the car, their computer system was down, yet the gentleman still provided good customer service. However, I was treated extremely poorly by the corporate customer service over the phone (see next half of the review)
Cons: Although the Philadelphia and Greenville branches were great (see first half of review) the over-the-phone customer service on the corporate line was abominable. I was requesting the possibility of changing dropoff locations, and I was treated very badly. Not only did the pricemore than triple for me to drop it off 400 miles closer than planned (so I just chose to stick with the original dropoff location), but the gentleman on the phone mocked me and raised his voice. Disgusting behavior. I gave the overall experience a "mediocre" rating for this reason, because while the rest of the experience was good, this man ruined it before it started.

Good Process, Dirty Car
Pros: Picking up and dropping were much better than the competitors at the PHL airport.
Cons: Car was dirty, inside and out and smelled strongly of smoke. The approval from the cleaning supervisor was on the dash but I can't imagine they actually looked at the car given it's cleanliness. The car quality was fine however.
Pros: Due to trouble with the mechanics of the car Rent a Wreck is refunding a day's charge. This should be back in account within 3 days, they say.
Cons: The muffler came semidetached and it sounded like a street rod. I'm nor sure if this was a safety hazard or not but it wasn't good.

The van was in need of maintenance - exampke, wipers were old and cracked.
It was a big hassle to get into the lot and find the car. The lot attendant was very rude!

Pros: pricing was one thing
Cons: . a little seedy. car was not clean inside or out. the rental signing process a little outdated and in an uncomfortable setting. In the end, the pricing was not that much cheaper than the nationals/brand names. The policy about the rental period is strict. severe penalty for dropping off after 24 hour period...so ridiculous that I uber'ed to a couple places after I returned the car. My flight came in early and I picked up an hour earlier than anticipated but was leaving at my expected time 26 hours later. 2 extra hours was double the cost.

National Car Rental is an AMAZING company to work with!
Pros: From the first click on-line, to being greeted at the reception desk to sign-in at the National counter to pick up the rental car....just incredible. Everyone on the National team was top notch in their attention to details, and their customer service: stellar, truly. To the attendant who finalized our transaction paperwork, to the team member who escorted us to our rental car...simply amazing. We were struck by National's competence and we vowed to never use any other service except the best: National. A model company that all others should be measured by...exemplary in every aspect.

Pros: Easy pick up (except we couldn't figure out how to get in the facility at first since the entrance had a sign saying "car return" when we wanted to pick up a car). The people at the pick up at PHL were very polite, helpful, and friendly.
