Location. Cleanliness. Room size. Comfortable bed.
Would hope to get a better view for the expense. Also, would have helped to know facilities such as the gym were closed due to COVID.
The room was great!
Great spot for seeing a play at Broadway playhouse and eating Francesca!! Loved it!
I have no recommendations. Everything i needed was there!!
Location was awesome. Staff was excellent.
The bar didn’t open till 4pm. The carpet in the room was kind of dirty. I couldn’t let my son crawl around on it. Very cool hotel though.
location bed/sheets/pillows very comfy shower/bathroom bar
A good overall stay
Location was excellent and bed was super comfortable!
Parking at the hotel was $65 a night and didnt find this out till I saw a $533 charge on my room. At no point did they mention it.... also its $10 if you want a microwave in your room which I feel is a cheap trick for a hotel like this.
Not much to like other than the convenient downtown location.
Dimly lit, old dirty hallways and equally old, poorly kept rooms. If I wasn't so tired I would have gone elsewhere.
Great Location/Excellent Price!
Located in the heart of Gold Coast, close to great food and shopping. Best value....
Smelly, old rooms. Not 4 star
Nothing. Will not be back .
Room and hall smelled of smoke . Rooms do not look like pictures - beat up furniture , old tattered carpets, needs deep cleaning and painting at the minimum . Not a 4 star property .
The room was clean, though very dark, and the bed was comfortable. As others have pointed out, it is within walking distance of most downtown shopping areas and about half an hour from the Magnificent Mile.
The front desk staff were clipped and curt, which was unexpected, and made for a chilly welcome to the Windy City. As mentioned, the room was darker than expected, and the two outlets for charging equipment were located along the far wall, underneath the desk, which had a drawer that would not close. This drawer's corners caused several near-accidents, unsurprisingly. The bathroom was clean and pleasantly designed, but very small. We were dissatisfied with the room service and front desk experience. When we ordered breakfast, we expected more than a few eggs on an English muffin, and we received two small scones, rather than our order of a scone and a croissant. When this was mentioned at checkout, I was told that a manager would give me a call, which never happened.
Beautifully appointed - great location
Location - decor - cleanliness
Decent but not worthy of the 4 star hotel rating i
The location was pretty much the only good part of this hotel. Bed was comfortable, but it should be for the price.
Parking is expensive, be sure to use valet if you plan to use your car. Check spot hero for cheaper places to park if you self park. Hotel is old. It is maintained fairly well but it does show its age in dated bathroom fixtures. First hotel I have ever been in with no alarm clock, didn't provide any soap for the shower either. It is decent but I would look elsewhere. Isn't worth the price and doesn't deserve its rating.
This hotel was in a great location for shopping! I took a long weekend trip by myself and the hotel staff was sooo helpful and provided much information to make my trip most enjoyable! The rooms are older but very clean and comfy!
I always enjoy the Whitehall. The new Asian restaurant is a plus! The location is perfect for my needs.
Its location to my conference. The bed was quite soft as well.
the proximity of downtown is excellent.
staff was not overly helpful, didn't follow up properly, no free wireless internet ($10/day), very, very dark rooms, all lights on during the day, room was odd mix of classic American furniture and Roman bath mosaic bathroom meets Frank Lloyd Wright shades of green wall paper. It certainly wasn't the European charm/boutique hotel we expected.
That the staff upgraded us to a better room when the could not provided two of the superior king rooms near each other as requested.
The lobby was very small and crowded when groups arrived to register. I would like to see an in room coffee maker instead of complimentary coffee downstairs. Not very convenient. In the rooms, there was not attention to details in the cleaning department. Our first room had a broken arm on a chair and too much furniture in too small of a space. Also, I had a hard time with the lighting-- too ambient in the 1st room and one of the lamps had a bad socket.
t.v. location was not comfortable to watch -
No internet free
Comfortable bed and location of hotel
Limited choice in restaurant
The location was excellent and the bed was very comfortable
It is not possible to open the windows although I was lucky in my room and could. I think this is quite common in America.
I liked the location a lot and the bed was extremely comfortable
Did not like the room service menu, which only seemed to offer what appeared to be a Chinese take away
