Hertz promised a "skip the line check in", but when I arrived my selected grade of vehicle "wasn't ready." However there were tons of more expensive vehicles ready if I wanted to pay for an upgrade! They canceled my pick up truck because my flight was delayed 1 hour. I listened to a Hertz agent rent the truck I had reserved to another couple. They said there was nothing they could do. No empathy. Also, it was 1:30 in the morning. I was tired and stranded at the airport. They had no other available vehicles.Reviewed 13 Aug 2026

The dropoff location was closed the whole day of the dropoff, so I was charged more than 7 times the original rental fee for failing to know that the rental I initially paid for was bogus. Hertz agreed to refund the charges after 6 hours of extra driving and time trying reach customer service, but they lied and refund only a fraction. It took another round of CS to get the rest of the refund. It hasn't been finished yet.Reviewed 12 Aug 2026

Said don’t have the intermediate car we reserved. Tried to give us smaller car then tried to give larger Volvo with a 700 upgrade price tag. Didn’t give options for insurance just charged after they wouldn’t give options on car I took Volvo and then we went out to car and saw there were other intermediate cars and went back in and had them give me a different car. The car was dirty. The chips on the windshield were not documented properly. Had to call later to document the rock chips with Hertz since their renting agent didn't document it on the photos he took. The car was not really SUV. It was a crossover. As well, the windows were not tinted at all. So the vehicle's windows were not easy on the eyes. Additionally, the inside of the vehicle was entirely exposed to the outside, so we could leave our belongings and suitcases in the vehicle unattended!Reviewed 11 Aug 2026

Upon arrival, we were told the car class we reserved was not available. The only way we could rent a car was to pay MORE money for an upgrade. The Hertz clerk could not have been more dismissive, uncaring or unhelpful to the situation. We were left needing to find an alternative solution, and ended up spending 90 minutes on the phone with Hertz to get the situation sorted. Terrible experience.Reviewed 11 Aug 2026

I returned my car and afterwards received an incident report via email showing bumper and license plate damage. The damage was so slight I didn’t notice it. Luckily I always take a video of rental cars before I drive off the lot. In the video it proves the damage was already present on the car upon pickup. It’s been a week and they haven’t responded. My husband and I rent cars about 6-7 times a year and usually we have no problems. This is the last time I rent from hertz.Reviewed 9 Aug 2026

I showed up at the airport on Saturday and the staff went home. The hours at Provo are really bad. I had to go to the next door budget car company to rent a car. I specifically asked for a 7 seater car. We had 7 people and no car. Thank goodness budget was able to accommodate us. My experience with budget rent a car is awesome. Their hours are excellent and they have staff there consistently. Would not recommend hertz rent a car in Provo. They might not be there when you arrive.Reviewed 9 Aug 2026
