The people and the process were totally fine and I would say as good as expected. The problem I experienced was the extreme odor in the vehicle, it smelled like cigars and the second issue is receiving a vehicle with less than a full tank of gas and then being expected to return it with the same amount of gas is nearly impossible, so you run the risk of either paying more for fuel than you should have or returning it with less fuel than they determined. You should have and be penalized for it. In my opinion, they should always be completely full of fuel before you drive off simple enough.

They had me drop off my car at a location that was too short to accept the vehicle. I had to get it towed the next day from my home.

Extremely disappointing experience. I booked a one-way rental to pick up in Page and return to Hertz in Las Vegas, but when I arrived in Page, I was told they would not honor the reservation because I was returning at a different Hertz location. The woman at the customer service desk was very rude and, when I tried to make a new reservation to return to Page, she told me they were an affiliate and refused to make a new reservation. I was left without a car for 3 days in an area where Uber drivers are not available. What makes this even more frustrating is that this location closes at 5:00 PM, before the only daily flight into Page arrives. This makes absolutely no sense. I ended up without a car for three days, had to pay extra for taxis, new flight and hotel reservations and lost valuable vacation time and sightseeing opportunities. I also had to cancel my return flight from Las Vegas and book a new, more expensive flight from Page, which cut my vacation short by a day. I did not receive a refund for my original flight either. I also had to change my itinerary completely. Most of all, I was horrified at the customer service representative's disrespectful attitude and unwillingness to help in any way. While I was at the location, I heard multiple other customers complaining about this specific Hertz location. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend using Avis, which I ultimately had to use instead.

⭐ 1 Star — Absolutely Terrible Customer Service I reserved a full-size truck online through Hertz, with a 5:00 PM pickup time clearly specified on my reservation. I arrived at 5:00 PM only to be told they had no trucks available. No advance notice, no phone call, no email—nothing. Instead of helping resolve the problem, the employee gave me a phone number for the downtown location and essentially sent me on my way. I called the number and was first routed through an AI system, then transferred to an overseas call center where communication was extremely difficult. The representative’s solution? Give me a list of local Hertz offices and tell me to call around myself to see if anyone had the vehicle Hertz had already confirmed and reserved for me. I honestly cannot believe this is how a legitimate national rental car company operates. What is the point of making a reservation if Hertz doesn’t have the vehicle and makes the customer hunt around town for one? I finally called Enterprise down the street, made a reservation, and they took care of me. Hertz turned what should have been a simple rental into a complete waste of time. Some of the poorest customer service I’ve experienced. Never again.

I wa very disappointed that Hertz considers a Subaru Crosstrek a mid size SUV. I was traveling with 3 individuals the are tall (2 over 6 feet). Subaru describes this vehicle as a SMALL crossover. The pick up and drop off were frought with challenges. Not quite enough gas (though the pump clicked off) led me to go add gas in order to avoid a 38 dollar charge. This led to me being "late" returning and a 28 dollar charge. I will give credit to the drop off person. She was able to override the charge, It just felt disappointing.

Wouldn’t let me change my dates well when my plans altered twice (well in advance of travel). Had to cancel reservation and that charged me a significant amount for the cancellation. Will never use Hertz again.

They sent me to a location to pick up a vehicle but the office was already closed. I had to pay $100 in uber fees.

Hertz promised a "skip the line check in", but when I arrived my selected grade of vehicle "wasn't ready." However there were tons of more expensive vehicles ready if I wanted to pay for an upgrade! It was so clearly just a money making scheme. I ended up standing in line. Super annoying!

They canceled my pick up truck because my flight was delayed 1 hour. I listened to a Hertz agent rent the truck I had reserved to another couple. They said there was nothing they could do. No empathy. Also, it was 1:30 in the morning. I was tired and stranded at the airport. They had no other available vehicles.

The dropoff location was closed the whole day of the dropoff, so I was charged more than 7 times the original rental fee for failing to know that the rental I initially paid for was bogus. Hertz agreed to refund the charges after 6 hours of extra driving and time trying reach customer service, but they lied and refund only a fraction. It took another round of CS to get the rest of the refund. It hasn't been finished yet.
