Pros:The biggest problem was the smell of the vehicle. It seemed like someone had smoked in the car and then tried to cover it up. Car smelled like a cheap hotel room. Also, there was a strong scent of either perfume or air freshener on the seat belt which then made me smell like that the rest of the day.

Pros:The staff at the counter were friendly when they delivered their bad news. It appeared that somehow most of the rental counters were working together. Brandy, from Avis, found an suv for me at about a dollar difference off what I was confirmed for with Payless. Big thank you to Brandy.
Cons:I had an email confirming my reservation for an Suv with Payless in Omaha. After my flight, I went to the Payless counter to hear that they did not have my name or reservation in their system. I showed my email confirmation. I called the Payless 800 number and they could confirm my reservation and I had them speak to the counter person in Omaha so my reservation could be confirmed that way. Omaha said since I was not in their system, they could not honor my reservation. Not the experience I had anticipated.

Cons:I booked the car from kayak (payless). Payless IAH Houston have the most unreliable service. We booked our car for one day and they double charge us. They ask you to leave the car and you will get a receipt on ur email. never ever do that because they will end up charging you more than you ever booked for. make sure u get ur recipet there and there. frustrated..

Cons:We arrived in San Juan and were transported to Payless. It took an hour and a half to receive our car. The woman at the counter up sold us 150.00 with all extra charges for tolls and "their insurance." We literally used the car TWICE. It was parked in valet at our resort the entire time. We took the car to Old San Juan which was parked in a parking garage while we explored. The second time we took the car out was to the Kiosco which is a strip of restaurants. We returned the car and the SAME woman who up sold us told us that we had been in an "accident" and there was a dent in the car. There is literally no way this happened. Both times we took the car out there would be no way a car backed into us and hit us. And we absolutely did not get into an accident. When they compared the three diagrams of inspections of the car they came as followed: The person who inspected the car with the previous renter marked NO scratches on the car. The person who inspected the car before giving it to us marked down 6 scratches on the car with MAJORITY of them being on the back where they claim the "dent" was. The man said that they are not required to mark light scratches on cars, but they can. I said how am I supposed to take this seriously when I have three different diagrams and the person who inspected the car prior giving it to us didn't miss this "dent"? They had no answer. SO they charged me 500$ for a DENT while it goes through claims. I called the claim specialist Mary with no return phone call. This place is an ABSOLUTE scam. I recommend renting from a big name company. You think you are going to save money through this company and you will not because they up sell you and then claim you are in an "accident" when you are not. By ALL means had I been in an accident I would have reported it immediately and I would have had a police report of it. I refused to sign any paperwork stating I was in this accident. They ALSO tried to give me a form in Spanish with information about the claim. I do not speak Spanish therefore that form is null and void. When I called them out on this they said uh, uh and scurried to get me the proper form. They tried to scam me any possible way they could. I will absolutely continue to fight this 500$ charge. This 100.00 car ended up costing me 757$. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS PLACE. TRUST ME!

Pros:The car was wonderful. Roomy and comfortable while not overly large.
Cons:My mother, who doesn't drive, wanted to pay for the rental. When we picked up the car, we were told that this would not be a problem. When we picked up the car, we were told that since I would be doing the driving, they had to have my credit card on record since they required that the credit card match the driver's license they had on file. We were told that this could be changed when we returned the car and that they would have no problem with putting the charge on her card. When we returned the car, their story changed. Now, while they could put the charge on any of MY cards that I liked, the charge had to go on my card. They would not accept her card as payment AT ALL. Plus, while the reservation clearly said that this location was in the rental car terminal, they really are not. They are outside, in the parking lot of the rental car terminal and do not have any counter space in the terminal itself. When we returned the car, the only employee at the counter was on the phone taking a reservation and no one would even acknowledge our presence. This was in pouring rain.

Pros:Staff at the rental counter as well as at the car pick up / drop off were extremely friendly. Car was clean and ran very well. Pick up and drop off were very easy.
Cons:Original quote did not include several additional fees that I did not anticipate. These fees amounted to an additional $31.64 over the original quote that supposedly included "Taxes, Fees and Surcharges." VERY unpleasant surprise at the counter. I will most likely not be using Payless again, given this lesson learned regarding their additional fees and surcharges that were not included in the original quote. I certainly would have used a different company had I been provided with an accurate quote upon making my original reservation online.
4.0 Mediocre
Pros:Decent car.
Cons:They charged ($187.00) over double the estimate ( $80 ) No signage for returning the car and the attendant was rude. And I haven't received a copy of the bill yet. I will never rent from Payless again.

Cons:They say time heals all wounds. It had been a while since I reserved a car at this location. Upon arrival in Denver, I was immediately reminded of why. I watched every other rental company's pick up vehicle come by multiple times before their shuttle ever came. Upon arrival at their office, after a 25 minute wait for the shuttle, they were understaffed, the rental process was slow, and the price quoted and reserved was quickly doubled by the time the rental was completed. From the time I arrived at the shuttle stop until the time I left with a vehicle it was over one and a half hours. The vehicle was old, nearly 50k miles. There is not enough time to pass to have me rent from them again.
