please make it more clear that there are extra charges if going out of province and that you absolutely require detailed insurance information. The amount of time you waste for people is astounding - so many people unaware of your stringent policies. I was super annoyed and will not be returning.

This was, without a doubt, the worst car rental experience I’ve ever had. We arrived expecting to pick up our reserved vehicle, only to be told there were no cars available. We were put on a waiting list and ended up waiting from 1:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. at the rental office because there were simply no vehicles. We had no choice but to spend the entire night there. To make matters worse, there was only one employee trying to handle an endless line of frustrated customers. I was number 12 on the waiting list, and people just kept arriving while everyone waited for hours with little information. When we finally received a vehicle, we discovered it had cockroaches inside. After waiting all night, getting into an infested car was completely unacceptable. This company clearly overbooks reservations without having enough vehicles available, leaving customers stranded for hours. A reservation should actually mean a car will be available. The lack of planning, staffing, cleanliness, and customer service made this an incredibly stressful and disappointing experience. I would never rent from this company again and would strongly encourage others to look elsewhere.

nice selection of cars, easy checkout once you complete all the paperwork. but they don't take Amex premium insurance even though it's primary and their offered insurance is pricey. after adding that and the ezpass fee, I should have just gone with one of the on-site rental agencies closer to the airport

I would not rent from Routes again based on my experience. Picking up our vehicle in Montreal was an absolute nightmare. It took over two hours just to get our rental car, and the office was packed with customers who had also been waiting for hours. The process was extremely slow and disorganized, making for a very frustrating start to our trip. The rental was also overpriced for a one-day rental, especially considering the excessive wait time and lack of efficiency. To be fair, the vehicle itself was clean, well-maintained, and in excellent condition. The drop-off process was also quick, easy, and hassle-free, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, those positives don’t make up for the incredibly poor pickup experience. Spending over two hours waiting for a rental car is simply unacceptable. If Routes can improve their staffing and check-in process, it would make a huge difference. Until then, I’d recommend looking at other rental companies if your time is valuable.

Routes Car Rental provided a great experience. The car was clean, comfortable, and in excellent condition. The service was friendly and efficient, and the pickup and return process was smooth. I had no issues during my rental and would definitely use Routes again in the future. Highly recommended!

I had a disappointing experience with this car rental company. I rented a small Kia for only about 7 hours, but I was required to provide a CAD 1,500 deposit/hold, which felt very high for such a short rental. The deposit was also not returned immediately. When I called after 3 days, I was told it could take around 10 to 15 business days, which can be up to about 2 to 3 weeks. I feel this is too long and should have been clearly explained before I signed the rental agreement. At pickup, I had to wait more than 45 minutes while standing, and after that I felt rushed to sign the contract without a clear explanation of the conditions, including the deposit return timeline. I also found a few water bottles left in the trunk and had to dispose of them myself. Overall, the process felt poorly explained and unprofessional. Based on this experience, I would be hesitant to use this company again.
