I don’t know if Kayak or Alamo is at fault but the type of Vehicle I wanted was not available and I made a trip there just to be told they didn’t have the type of car I rented.

The rental counter was oversold and lacking 10+ cars the day I picked up. Their only available option was an electric car and definitely not what I reserved in advance. I was driving 3+ hours to take a ferry to an island that didn’t have a charger. They told me the car would fully charge in an hour and that it would be fully charged when I got it (neither of these things was true).

I was able to reserve a car on Kayak but when I went to Hertz desk, I was told they did not have any available vehicles. It was a bit frustrating.

Pros:

The agent at Norfolk was so personable. She brought sunshine to an anxiety-riddled experience of going to the airport and trying to find things. I left the counter smiling.

Cons:

The car smelled like smoke especially when I removed the “sanitized” sticker. I didn’t have time to get a different vehicle.

Pros:

The manager on duty who assisted when I picked up the car was fantastic. She had a line of clients that had been waiting well over an hour (myself included) to pick up their rentals. She was by herself and was calm, cool, and friendly.

Cons:

How was there only a single agent on duty with so many reservations on the books. The line easily extended over 2 hours for some.

The young man at the counter was great very friendly and personable! However the lady that was working there with him was extremely rude and nasty! Her attitude is horrible for no apparent reason and does not have the personality to work around a customer service based business! A better job for her would be cleaning toilets or sweeping out the parking lot away from people where she can be angry by herself
