Cons:My flight was delayed 3 hours, so they gave away my car and didn't have any more mid-sized cars left for me. They wouldn't upgrade me without charging me more, even though it was their fault they gave away my car. They instead gave me an economy car, which was an awful, stripped down Toyota Yaris with a bunch of damage. Luckily I was renting only for myself, so I could use the backseat for my luggage since there wasn't enough room in the trunk. If I had been traveling with multiple people, I would have had no choice but to pay more for a larger car.Reviewed 3 Sep. 2017

NICE CLEAN CARPros:Booked an Nissan Altima and that is what I got. Beautiful, comfortable car. Pleasantly surprised by the amenities, sunroof, Sirius XM radio, lane warning sensors, backup mirror etc. Very well appointed.Cons:Service desk help at check in was not a good experience. Asked about tolls to where were going and they had no idea. Did not offer easy pass (it was in the glove compartment). We ended up going through one toll (not sure how Dollar will handle/bill us); I hope only the price of the toll. On our return, we we 30-minutes out of our way to avoid the toll road. Also, no one at the garage to do a walk around to assess previous damage issues. We searched and waited 30+ minutes to no avail. Once we finally got out, we noticed the gas tank was not quite full.Reviewed 19 Dec. 2017

Pros:Staff in Norfolk were friendly and helpful.Cons:The first car we received reeked of cigarette smoke and we had to wait over an hour for another vehicle. During the two week rental period, the key fob battery died and we needed to replace it. Then the air conditioning stopped working…in the summer…in the South. I both called and emailed Dollar for assistance and got an email saying I’d hear from them within 7 days. (I’m home now, and still no contact from them.) I asked for a rate adjustment upon returning the vehicle and was told all they can do is check the vehicle back in. A very frustrating experience.Reviewed 28 Jun. 2021

Pros:The return to Atlanta was easy process.Cons:Had to go to the Hertz counter as yet again there was no agent at the Dollar counter. Waited in line for an hour with only three people in front of me as there was only one agent working. Every time a customer showed up in the Hertz Gold line they were taken care of before the customers that had been waiting. Then finally I get to the counter and hear that I had the manager special so they had a difficult time finding a mid size suv. My reservation did not say anything about a manager special, it only said mid size SUV reserved. Another twenty minutes to find a SUV. Then I finally got to the vehicle, it only had 3/4 tank of fuel. The return to Atlanta airport was smooth and awesome as always. I would like to see Dollar increase their staffing at the Norfolk International Airport. Never with Dollar ever againPros:Quick to get the car and no one was in lineCons:Car was very dirty. Crumbs everywhere and stained seats. I called the customer service rep to let them know I was running 2 hours later he said its 2.50 each hour your late to return which I was fine with. I get my bill this morning they charged me for a full extra day and added fees totaling to $67 more than what I was supposed to pay. Never with Dollar again.Reviewed 5 Jun. 2016

Pros:I liked the courtesy, care and attention given to me by everyone who assisted me with this rental. However the problems I encountered I do not believe was the fault of the individuals who assisted me.Cons:I received 3 receipts for my rental by email and each one had different charges. The 4th receipt would be the one I received upon rental of the vehicle. Additionally, I was charged alternately for 3 days and 4 days for the same car rental. I just received the receipts through by email and of course will deal with Dollar Rental tomorrow. I believe that the return desk closes at 7:00 pm and it is now 6:26pm my time.Reviewed 10 Jul. 2018
