Top tips for hiring a car at San Sebastian Airport

  • Car rentals at San Sebastian Airport (EAS) are conveniently located, especially for travelers arriving at the airport. They offer reliable and faster pick-up services. Airport locations have several rental agencies that offer a wide range of vehicles to suit your style, budget, and travel needs. Plus, you can choose the right extras, such as GPS, ski racks, and child seats, to make your journey easier. Moreover, car rentals at San Sebastian Airport are cost-effective, saving you hidden costs such as commuting fees, baggage fees, and peak-hour fare increases.
  • Picking up car rentals at San Sebastian Airport is easy. This is because it features several car rental companies on-site. If you book earlier, pick-up is swift. You only need to get the car keys when you book San Sebastian Airport car rentals online via KAYAK. Once you provide the proper paperwork, you only need to sign the car rental agreement. Upon signing it, you can pick up the car keys and be on your way. KAYAK lets you pick the right add-on features to make travel smooth.
  • When you are ready to return your car rental at San Sebastian Airport, drive back to the pick-up location. However, you can arrange to drop it off at a different location earlier. If you wish to avoid the extra charges, go back to the airport location. When returning car rentals at San Sebastian Airport, ensure you present the keys with a contract at the agreed-upon time. This is because some rental companies charge extra for every late hour. Also, if your contract has a full-on-full fuel policy, be sure to fill up your gas tank. In addition, clean the vehicle, take out all your items, and make sure your car is undamaged. This will save you rental policy violation fees. If returning after hours, please park and lock the vehicle. Proceed to leave the rental agreement and the keys in the drop box of your rental company.
  • San Sebastian Airport is a busy airport, and passenger traffic is expected. This can lead to busy rental counters, especially on Sundays, Fridays, and Wednesdays. This means the wait time can be over 40 minutes to an hour. However, if you wish to avoid waiting in line for hours, consider making earlier arrangements. You choose a pick-up time around 45 minutes after your scheduled arrival. This can help you save time. However, ensure that the time you pick aligns with the agency's operational hours.
  • Book your car hire at San Sebastian Airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with Sixt at the Zurriola branch in San Sebastián. From the moment I arrived, the staff — particularly one lady at the counter — was extremely rude and unhelpful. Instead of assisting me, she blamed me for booking through a third-party agent, as if that somehow justified the poor service I was receiving. It was very clear that priority and better treatment were being given to customers who booked directly with Sixt. Despite receiving a confirmation for my booking, I was informed upon arrival that there was no vehicle available for me. Without any apology or accountability, I was redirected to another Sixt branch, only to face the exact same situation there — no car available. This not only disrupted my travel plans but caused a great deal of unnecessary stress. To make matters worse, I had to make numerous international calls to Sixt’s customer support, incurring significant roaming charges. Each call was time-consuming, and though I was repeatedly promised a compensation voucher for the inconvenience, I have yet to receive anything — even weeks later. Overall, the experience was unprofessional, disorganized, and costly. I expected a much higher standard of service from a company like Sixt, and I will seriously reconsider using them in the future. I hope Sixt addresses these systemic issues and improves both their customer service and booking reliability.
