Bad servicePros:I liked the price I got for the vehicle. Would have paid more for better service.Cons:Service was horrible the staff was late to work. Why let me put fight info for 1am to get there nobody is at counter had to wait in airport for 6 hours until 7am. Other companies were at work. Went to site at 7 nobody from sixt is there but all other companies there waited another 40min. Then was told we have to pay extra for insurance even though credit card covered this. Also put a1000 dollar hold on card. Do are we paying insurance or doing a hold? Nobody was there for the drop off almost missed flight. This was at 12pm. SDQ - Good rental except for the returnPros:Easy (relatively for the Dominican Republic) to rent. Nice car. Good price.Cons:Rented at SDQ. The rental car counter on the return didn’t open until 7AM. We had early flight. Was able to check into my flight, check my bags and eat breakfast then waited for the guy to show up at 7:00 AM. Thankfully the lines to security weren’t that long and we easily made our flight. If the flight was any earlier I would have had to just leave the car and put the keys in the drop box. Not something I would feel comfortable doing. I won’t rent from them again because of this. I took note off all the other rental car vendors that were open. Horrible customer serviceCons:As I made it to the counter for my rental I was greeted by a representative immediately saying I had To pay additional fees for my rental. They claim that I had to pay extra for insurance or I wouldn't be able to take the vehicle(country policy). I procedeed to explain to them that my credit card covers insurance and therefore I had no use for it. Furthermore, i told them that if this was actually required then why not just add it on my total. At the time of my reservation. I have rented many times in the Dominican Republic and know this information to be false. I did not take the rental and took my business elsewhere. Also, when trying to get in touch with sixt rent a car to get my refund they don't seem to have a very good customer service number. Not even in the website can I find customer service or a customer service representative. Will NEVER RENT FROM SIXT AGAINReviewed 29 Jun. 2017

Not a customer friendly policy or companyCons:Due to unforeseen circumstances I was forced to cancel my car rental reservation with Sixt prior to its beginning. Both Kayak and Sixt proved to have horrendous customer service experiences. Both companies attempted to shift blame/service responsibility to the other in an attempt to allow my concerns/issues to go unresolved. Furthermore, the policy that Sixt does not allow a refund for unused rental of any duration less than 3 days is an affront to the customer. Kayak failed to display this information clearly and Sixt proved to be unwilling to make any customer considerations in this regard. I have been a long time customer of Kayak.com and will not be using Kayak or Sixt in the future due to this experience.Reviewed 19 May 2017

Tom WhalePros:it was right at airport, guys working cars very quick to help.Cons:Girls working desk ripped us off, we purchased car insurance full coverage on SIXT site prior to arrival, had receipts. The girl at desk said that they did not take that insurance even though its the one they offer on their site, alliance insurance. She quickly gave us her phone with their number dialed and insurance money reimbursed than girl at desk charges us three times what we paid, plus also gives us 1100 dollars deductible when first insurance had none, than they tried to rip us on gas when we filled tank 4km before airport. I plan on filing complaint with Visa on Monday about this case. This was at SDQ airport in Dominican republic. It appears to be a scam with Allance insurance and Sixt car rentalReviewed 28 Jan. 2018

Pros:The car was nice and comfortable.Cons:Upon our arrival we had to wait about an hour to be seen. The only person working was handling two transactions, a return and a rental. The car was given dirty on the outside so the scratches were hard to see. We didn’t realize the windshield had a crack in it until a few days later. Luckily I took a video of the car so we didn’t end up being liable for the damage. When we took the car back they said not to worry about it because I had the video. Once there, they told us the temp tags were expired, mind you we picked up the car on 5/2 and it expired 5/3. Why would they give a car with temp tags about to expire the following day? Our car rental was for 20 days. They said they kept trying to call us, I asked to what number and they said your US number, why would they call our US number when we’re in a different county. There was no excuse because they had all of our local information. They said someone would be by the following day to take the new temp plates. We waiting all day, no one showed up and no one even bothered to call. We tried calling them all day even to their emergency number and no one responded. How reassuring is that if we did have some sort of vehicle emergency and we couldn’t reach someone on their emergency number. Not until 2 days later after we kept calling that someone actually picked up and said someone would be by within the hour. We asked for a credit for the inconvenience and all they said was that the card had already been charged and that they couldn’t issue a credit. I work for a University and I handle payments, partial refunds can be issued if they wanted to. It was the most annoying experience ever. Wasted time and days waiting around so that we wouldn’t be stopped by the cops for expired temp plates. When we went to return the car the day we were leaving at 7:00am apparently they didn’t open until 8:00am. How do you have a car rental company where you don’t have someone on site 24 hours a day? After waiting a while a person finally showed up. Then he weren’t the one to process the lift of the $3,000 hold it was another person who wouldn’t be there until about an hour later. Considering our flight was at 10:00am we couldn’t wait around.Reviewed 23 May 2021

Pros:The agent was politeCons:When I got there they said I need it to pay for another insurance that was$18 a day or something like that. Also the need it to hold $1000 on my card. Theeee WORST customer service EVER!!Pros:The only positive thing was that they waited for me when I arrived. It was a headache with all the “fine print” and extra money that I had to put down to get the vehicle...Cons:On my way to the airport I was in a small fender bender & when I got to the airport I webt to check in, the receiver said he would be there waiting for me to sign. When I got back he was gone. The young lady that came to help me called the sup or mgr but she was no help either as they made me miss my flight, didnt accomadate me with anything, then said I could get another car for the day but I have to pay for it. Then I just noticed that the SUPER overcharged me for the fender bender. Something that here in the states would be a couple hundred, they took almost the entire deposit of the $1100 I put down for the car... the worst experience ever...Reviewed 29 Aug. 2018

Not renting again from SixtPros:The pickup and drop off process was smooth.Cons:The car I got was beat to hell and the front bumper was missing clips so it kept coming off. The inside was dirty and when I asked to get a different one they told me that’s all they had. They also charged me for a $19 dally mandatory liability insurance, which is fine but needs to be clear at the time of reservation. I will not be renting from Sixt again.Reviewed 13 Jun. 2018
