They gave me a vehicle with low tire pressure and no windshield washer fluid in the middle of winter. I had to spend time getting these things taken care of on a one-way from BC to AB. The management was unavailable to respond in a timely manner (more than 24 hours later) and they did not respond to my request for a refund. Luckily, when I got to my destination, they (staff for all airport rental companies) told Alamo to refund me for the inconvenience and for the fact that they issued an unsafe vehicle that was not properly checked. Will not rent here again.

Very efficient staff—I was in my car in less than 5 min from arriving at the counterI wanted a compact car, but the key to it was misplaced so I was given a “free upgrade” to an SUV. It was a definite upgrade in car, but as the city I was driving in had narrow streets and park places, I was wishing I had the compact instead. Really think twice about accepting an alternate class of car and if it will suit your needs as well.

Arrangements made ahead of time were all right at pick up. Fairly quick pick up, quite straight forward. Super easy drop off.Would have preferred to pick a car from a few choices. The car was fine, economical on fuel but a little low to the ground for a few passengers.

They gave me a car that the media system did not work at all. So I paid for a premium rental that I couldn’t listen to music in or use my phone or navigation ect. And budget would not do anything for me after.

I booked my rental ahead of time. Only to be told at the airport that my license was no valid. Went to the next counter and rented a vehicle with National. When I returned the vehicle to the airport, I went back to Budget counter and gave the customer service rep my licence and asked to rent a car. He was happy to rent one to me. My question is what changed between Saturday 9 October and Monday 11 October. Called and left a message for Budget to call back. I am still waiting. It was terrible experience. Ended up renting a car at a higher rate. Ruined my vacation.

I did not have a good experience overall. I don't think it was a KAYAK thing necessarily..... Booked a car online with Kayak. I chose a Jeep Grand Cherokee ( Or similar ) what I got was a Hyundai Santa fe. I'm sorry but this is not even close to being similar. Above and beyond the price / class difference of the car. The Santa Fe didn't drive nice. The push button experience was inconvenient. Had trouble adjusting to this fact. For a car that has seemingly has so many electronics and technology, it was not very intuitive. I went to get in the car after parking it for the night and the next day the battery was completely drained. I double checked and the lights had not been left on...... The mechanic that was dispatched to help get the car started again told me that this is a common occurrence with this model. If you have the radio on for example and the car is off and parked it wont turn itself off. Whereas the Cherokee does turn itself off after a certain point. My biggest complaint however is service related. I had booked my pickup to correspond with my flight arrival. 2pm. My flight was early so I arrived to pick up the car 20 mins early. So I was prepared for a little bit of a wait. I ended up waiting over and hour and a half for the car to be ready.... When I complained about it the agents kept telling me that it would be ready in 10 mins and again 10 mins and again 10 mins. What's the point of booking a car in advance when you have to wait this long?! Then when I finally got the car it wasn't what I had expected. I did mention it immediately, that this isn't the type of car I was expecting and the agent said well, it's an SUV and a comparable car. A Santa Fe instead of a Grand Cherokee. I wasn't happy about it but I also wasn't going to risk waiting another hour and a half. .

The best rental car pickup and dropoff experience ever. No waiting. Friendly, patient staff. Very clean vehicle. Right at the airport - no shuttle needed. One employee quickly brought me a luggage cart when I really needed one. Best price I could find. I was very happy with all aspects of my experience.

My experience was actually amazing. The on line experience and both in person experiences were excellent. I do not want to take away from that. The accidental ordering of two cars, and being able to cancel with no trouble was a very great experience as well.My experience ordering an economy car and getting a V6, was a bit sad. I had a long way to travel and that was the impulse to get a eco car. The gas cost more that the rental of the car, due to the engine size. My recommendation would to ensure if a eco car was ordered do your best or at least tell the person so they may choose something more fuel efficient. All in all great experience. Thank you so much!

I booked mini van online i was there at the location on time. I called, I went to the front desk, ask everyone around. No one was there to inform me anything or reply by email or cellphone. I was at trouble finding a van for my business. Very bad experience and I will pass on to my friend also my partner.

Rental Car From HellIt was the right size.Wait time was very long picking up the car, they seemed under staffed. The electronic and USB connections were not working! Therefore our phones would not charge and our GPS systems would not work!! The GPS system in the car was stuck on demo mode and kept shutting off after about two minutes. Navigation was a nightmare! They also failed to tell us that the gas cap lid was a spring loaded push plate, so we wasted a lot of time looking for a release lever before we figured it out.

The car was very nice - clean, newer and worked well. Drop off was easy.1. When we picked up the car, the driver had to be the name of the person who made the reservation. I had intended for my husband to be the driver, but since I had used my own name for the reservation, I had to be the driver, which I was not comfortable with. We have never before had this experience and we have rented many cars in the past. We were told the only way to change the driver is to cancel the reservation and start all over again with a new reservation. As we had arrived at 9pm and it was getting late and we had had a tiring long day, we did not want to start all over. 2. Another thing we found annoying was that there were $103 of additional taxes and fees we had to pay upon pick-up that we were not advised of when we made the reservation. When I reserved the car on line, it was because Hertz seemed to have the lowest price. With the additional $103 that we ended up having to pay, it was probably the most expensive of all of the companies. And this was not for additional insurance or anything like that. It was taxes and fees slapped on. The attendant said it had been in the small print. Again, we have never before had this experience with a rental car. Usually, the price you see in the large print is the price you pay and no more. Because of this, we would not rent from Hertz again.

I liked that they had the vehicle we needed available. The vehicle was clean. The pick up went well.They said using my insurance was ok. Didn't explain that they would refuse it if something happened. We had a small chip in th corner from a rock that was thrown from a pick up in front of us. We filed a claim. When we returned the car she wouldn't talk to us about it just kept repeating no third parties no third parties handed me a bill for$250 and wouldn't explain anything. Refused. Horrible customer service and we will not be using hertz again.

The car was nice.Avis could have been more transparent about the fees that were added on during the pick up. There was an 18% location fee just because we were picking up at the airport. The staff was not knowledgeable on what these extra taxes were for.

Unable to pick up the carI rented the car under my name, because I was paying with a card under my name as well. My wife was suppoused to drived because my license was expires. They did not let us pick up the car because according to their policies the card holder is enforced to drive, and they did not even let us put her as an extra driver. They were not flexible at all and the set my a penalty of 60 USD

The agent was very reluctant to alert me when recommendations they made were going to be extra cost. By the time she was done with her recommendations and I asked for a price it was double price on the site. Needless to say I did not complete rental. A felt very bait and switched!!

When I got there they said because I was late they cancelled my car. They would not honor the price. I had to pay an extra 150 dollars to get a rental car from them. Would not use again

Dodge Durango was clean and new. Ladies at pickup were nice.We waited for at least 45 mins to an hour to get a shuttle to pick up our car. It's a bit of a sketchy operation but then the big operators can seem that way too just have a lacquer of a big corporation.

The rest of the staff is stressed and overworked - it’s not their fault they work in some crappy place - but it affects the service. The building is some old restaurant - which, whatever, nice use of repurposing - but it’s not taken care of. The car was fine - it was dented when I got it.Do not rent from this place. It took an hour to get my car (from arrival to standing in line to actually getting the car), and then it took 40 minutes to wait for the shuttle upon return. Also, the driver on the way to the place told me I had “nice hair” (we were alone in the van - SUPER creepy.)

Rented a car on Sunday and was supposed to return on tues. Needed an extention and was told to book online. Booked online and returned on tues to return and pick up another rental. I was denied so I walked down the street and rented from Enterprise. The employee also lied to my face.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Car was niceThe shuttle service is lacking compared to other car rentals. Customers arriving from other countries may not be able to call them for a pickup. Some kind of texting option would work better. Also, there was no early shuttle available to return to the airport. They were helpful and arranged a cab.

Although the young man at the desk did not seem eager to help, when pressed, he said the manager might help us find another car rental place. And he did. That was appreciatedI feel having a phone system that allows call to be answered and messages received would be helpful. When we were running late and called to tell them no one answered and the mailbox was full. We could not leave a message. As a consequence the car we reserved was given to someone else.

The check in process was about an hour. The car that we were assigned was driven off of the lot to get cleaned just as we were done signing over four contracts. This led to another long delay. We recommend using another car service if you want a timely departure and good customer service.

This is supposed to be an airport car rental but they close at 6:00 and you can’t pick up your car after that. Unbelievable. And don’t try to pick it up a second sadly either or they’ll try to charge you for an extra day.

What I liked was the staff. They worked hard to remedy the situation while explaining what went wrong in the web booking. Their team effort to make it right for us was very appreciated. I know in the future that I can trust this company to do the right thing. I liked these guys and their effort madeTo compete with the big companies they could be better at streamlining pick up and drop off since they are offsite. Technology could really enhance that. Uniforms project professionalism. It is these points that could really enhance their business.

We waited in a freezing parking garage for the one attendant 30 minutes before he showed up. Long line of people behind us too. I ordered an SUV but was given a 2 wheel drive hatchback and they didn't have any 4WDs at any price. Drove to the ski resort despite my better judgement and somehow lived to tell the tale.

There was no shuttle to take me to the off site pickup and no offsite address was given to me. I picked up the car at the Vancouver airport where they initially honored the kayak-National on-line price but charged me another $800. when I returned the car in perfect condition and fully gased. Customer Service processed my service objection but I haven't received confirmation of a charge reversal. I feel I've been scammed.

We liked: the way we were treated by all the National folks. The car, a Hyundai Kona, was just perfect. I'd buy one if we didn't already have a year-old SUV. We didn't like: the really long line to get the car. The fact that while we thought we booked the car at the airport, we were actually supposed to pick it up elsewhere. And we really hated that we were charged a whole lot more for showing up early because of a last-minute flight change (although your agent was able to mitigate that a little).

I regularly use national for all my business travel. They have great cars and great customer service when you BOOK THROUGH NATIONAL.National had originally told me they didnt have any cars, however I was able to book one through kayak. After booking with kayak my company contract with them was somehow no longer valid even though I had to still pay and do everything through National.

A rental nightmareTurning the car in at Seattle was as should have been.Overpriced!!! $630 for 2 days. We went to the National counter at Vancouver, and were told that they did not handle my rental. That I had to go to the South terminal. No instructions on how to get to the South terminal were given. We went around the airport lugging 5 suitcases and an infant for over 1 1/2 hours until a bus driver told us how to get to the remote terminal. I will avoid renting from National ever again.

Receiving my carReceived a complimentary upgrade based on the fact that my car class was not availableTransaction was completed with the agent but needed to wait while the manager handled the process of picking out my vehicle. I worked as a manager in rental car for 10 years and found this practice a bit strange. Also, we were asked to initial the vehicle inspection BEFORE we received and saw the car. This should never happen. The inspection should be done WITH the customer before they get the car. NATIONAL should know better than this.

Great car, drove well, man at the counter was really nice.They didn't seem to know anything about the online booking system that I used, I ended up paying almost double because I wanted a GPS system which upgraded me to a nicer vehicle. However, I booked a Rav4 which is pretty comparable to a Chevy Esquire. I just feel like I overpaid for the upgrade.

OverpricedCar was clean, ran well (Toyota Camry).I only had the car 5 days and was charged the weekly rate. I was given only 1 day of insurance back when I brought it back early. On your website it doesn't mention the $30/day for insurance on top of the rental charge. I was led to believe at booking everything was included. Too expensive.

the car was smaller than i expected from an SUV, but it worked out fine. also, i asked for a ski rack at time of reservation and also called thrifty the day before we went to vancouver. both times i was told that my request was recorded, but not guaranteed. so i thought there was a decent chance that i would get a ski rack since i requested it so far in advance. when we arrived at the pick up location, i was told that they do not have ski racks in that location and never have them available for customers. that was kind of weird.

Dishonest experience with Thrifty car rentalI booked a rate on your site for a total car rental period with all fees for just under $40. When I returned my car to Thrifty the total was $199. 52 and I filled the car full of gas. They said that they added a $35 dollar per day insurance that I did not sign up for and they would not remove this charge. I am waiting for a phone call from you to discuss a refund. 949-910-0033

Crappy cars - didn't bother using them - switchedThe guys tried to be helpful but...The first Jeep Cherokee's 4WD service light was on, the second Jeep Patriot was old, ratty and stunk of cigarette smoke, and the last option with AWD was a Chevrolet thing. We left and went to Hertz and got a brand new clean Jeep Wrangler instead.

Nothing.They let me book a vehicle for a Sunday evening pickup, but I couldn't get my vehicle because they closed earlier than normal that day without giving me advance notice. When I called customer service, they basically said "Yeah, it's holiday time. Try again in the morning." Seriously!

ScamThis place is a complete scam. Do not rent from them. They require non Canadians to purchase their rental insurance (but don’t tell you this ahead of time) EVEN if you have coverage through a credit card or through your own car insurance. So add $15 a day to the price of the rental.

Not the car we requestedThe vehicle was clean and comfortableNot even close to the car requested. Reserved a Toyota Yaris or similar but ended up with a Chevrolet Malibu. Horribly large car and not fuel efficient whatsoever. Extremely disappointed.

Airport pickup not apparentThe rental place was very difficult to find. It is not on site at the airport. You will not be able to find ‘Europcar’ on google maps. it is called ‘discount cars and truck rentals’. Phone number didn’t work either when I tried calling. The rest of the rental was ok.

Horrible experienceI had a Europcar reservation for a car, but it was handled by Discount Car Rental in Vancouver. When I showed up, they had no cars, and only offered me a very large truck with an open flat bed. This did not accomodate my 5 passengers, and the luggage would get wet since it was raining. The manager said I could exchange it the next day or two for the car I reserved, but when I returned, there were no cars. After initally telling me they couldn't refund my remaining rental fee, they agreed, and I went to another car rental company. I would not rent from them every again.

Super slow, rude and not informative, they tried to charge me double with additional fees when I came to pick up. I ended up renting elsewhere on Xmas eve! They almost ruined my family trip. I will never go back.

Booking online does NOT let you know the actual cost of the rental, so there are surprises when you pick up the car. The final cost was OVER 3 TIMES MORE than the price advertised. -- The essential and optional extra costs were NOT shown on the website - there should be menus of options WITH THE COSTS, and a total that includes everything. The customer should know ahead of time what the rental will cost, not when they pick up the car. It is unfair to the customer not to reveal the full cost. -- The website was apparently ONLY in USD! Booking a car in Canada should show CAN$ and provide a button to show other currencies, like most websites do. I will not use NextCar again.

The car I received & the service I received from staff was good overall. However, there was a couple of times where a higher number of customers arrived in a short period of time which quickly overwhelmed the staff from efficiently processing the backlog. Sufficient staffing would have made a difference.

The car was listed as being on airport grounds. That was not true. They drive the car on site, however the driver was unable to locate us, even though we were right in the arrival area to pick up rental cars. Many other brands were all there. NOT NEXTCAR. Buyer beware.

The advertisement was that it was at Vancouver International Airport. It is not.I had to search the internet to find where they were at. You need to take a train to get to them and then call them for a pick up. I called and it went to voicemail. Do not use this service at all. It leaves you stranded. Lucky for me Budget at the airport had a vehicle. What a farce. I travel extensively for work all across Canada. I don't have time for this crap. Kayak do your homework. worst experience ever. Rate this a zero out of five.

The car was new and in good condition. However, the pickup process was a nightmare. They lost our reservation and it took a long phone call for them to find it. They then told us that because they didn’t know about our reservation until we landed that they would not have a car ready and would call us when one was available. They are also not located at the airport (about 5k away) so we waited for them to call us and after 2 hours decided to just find our own way to their office and see what was going on. When we arrived we were told that the person we had talked to over the phone was off site at their head office and had never relayed his information to the office we were actually getting the car from. It was about another hour to get the car and when we did get it the seats were wet because they had left the windows open while cleaning. Many other people also waited about 3 hours for their car. Drop off was smooth though.

I paid for the rental but when we arrived to pick up the car they try to charge me the same price again on my credit card! I already told them it’s paid and they still try to get me to pay again! People be very careful for this store! I am so worried about the pre-authorized that they made me to process, it’s still showing pending in my bank account after a week we have returned the car. The most weird thing is - they copied my ID and credit card copy and also COPIED THE CVV NUMBER ON THEIR RECORD! This is so unacceptable and the staffs always talk to each other in their language that is not english and the clients won’t be able to understand what they are talking about! Just be careful everyone this car rental company is totally not trustworthy! I won’t recommend this store to anyone, avoid it if possible!

Read their Yelp reviews. You should not do business with this company. I lost faith in Kayak after my experience with them and after reading the reviews. Kayak should have eliminated them as an option before they screwed me. Disappointing!!! Kayak should do better

The car company appears to be a phony company. Neither they have presence on Vancouver airport where I was supposed to pick up rental from nor do they have local phone number. I asked around found out their local phone number and after several calls and multiple voicemails, nobody bothered to call me back. Booking was made on KAYAK via PriceLine and payment was already made but didn't get the rental. A fraud company; not sure why KAYAK and PriceLine list them although very many negative comments.

When we got to the rental office, they took our information and told us they were taking us to our car. They did not have a car for us, but instead referred our reservation to another company without telling us. We were then given a smaller vehicle for our group which we had TO PAY AGAIN FOR AND FOR MORE MONEY!! We were squeezed into the smaller SUV. This smelled like a bait and switch operation. As we were returning our car, I overheard another man having the same conversation I had a week earlier. NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!NEVER RENT FROM THEM !!!!!
