I rented a car online for Avis in Burlington and went there on pick up day and no one was there. Sign in window told me to call a number. A person answered and told me that they had already rented the car I booked to someone else as I was a few mins late and told me they had no car I could rent. They took payment off card which made it so I couldn’t rent another car and I had seminars all week for work to get to. I also was out over 75 for uber rides to and from Avis and my home. Still have not been able to get ahold of anyone or been able to get my money back. I will not use Avis or kayak ever again because of this awful experience. No one has even called me back with regards to my issues. I am out over 600 dollars and missed my work seminars in Toronto all week. The car from Avis was fantastic, no issues until we dropped it off. The person who checked us out was extremely rude and decided to charge us $250 for additional cleaning fees for a small amount of sand that got tracked in on the floor mats. This is ridiculous since they are vacuuming the car upon return anyway. I travel quite regularly and will NOT use AVIS again.Reviewed 3 Feb 2026
