I didn't like not being able to chose the warranty plan at the reservation time on the web site. It was very confusing when at the desk the clerk explained it to me. Plus I had no choice if the car would be stolen I had to pay the full car price. THIS IS totally not acceptable. Alamo must have insurance about that. I did feel push to accept an insurance even my credit card has a protection cover on rental car

Do NOT rent from Alamo at BCN airport. We arrived at 11pm and the small office near the car park, which was supposed to be open until midnight, was CLOSED. We were told to go into the desk in the Terminal, but that was also closed. We were told "yea, that happens." Great. If you are looking for a rental in Barcelona, the only one I can recommend is Sixt near Barceloneta (near Placa Pau Vila). I used them three times on our last trip and they were great. I would avoid all of the BCN airport rental counters if possible. Might also try Turo. Good luck.

My flight was canceled and I was not able to pick up my vehicle when I finally arrived two days later. When I found out my flight was canceled, I called all of the phone numbers provided to me and nobody answered. I contacted Expedia as the rental was through them, and they could not help either. I lost hundreds of dollars because I couldn’t change or refund my agreement.

Rented a car and when we arrived the office was closed at the time it should have been opened. They have good prices but you can see the things they overlook. This is the same company that charged us 150 euros because the car was returned "too dirty" (it was not). Last time I try to use them. Avoid this company. At Barcelona airport, just go for the companies that open until late: Sixt and Europcar.

Upon Arriving at airport we waited almost an hour for shuttle to return. Another couple had been waiting long before us, and they decided to catch a cab. We were about to do the same, but shuttle showed up. Staff was great, helpful and the vehicle was new, so super happy about that. Upon dropping off vehicle, the staff member insisted had had gone way over on the mileage, and how big of a deal it was going to be: Upon the realization he was wrong, by almost 700km, he was apologetic. Was still frustrating. Had a long wait for shuttle back to airport as well. Overall though, good experience.

Credit card that is accepted by enterprise on the us they decline to take a deposit out of it and they left us stranded in the middle of the night with a lot of rain and a one year old with us. Simply they refused service to us and we had to go to another company around midnight in the rain where we got ripped off to rent a car...for a small compact car they charged us 1100 $

The staff was very kind and helpful for both pick up and drop off. The car was comfortable, clean and new. However the waiting time at the pick up was very long, my friends who landed 20 mins later came and pick up within couple of minutes in another car rental counter. The lady in the counter was very nice and helpful, however the customer had so many questions, requests and we had to wait him for more than 20-25 mins and the line behind me kept getting longer. If there were 2 staff in the counter at that time things could have been a lot easier and quick for the ones waiting in the line.

Flight was delayed two hours and was told car no longer available when we arrived. Upgraded car only offered at almost twice the cost. Car stank of stale cigarettes despite a no smoking policy. Not pleasant to drive and left clothes smelling. After hours drop off location was not correct. Wasted time going to indicated location and then having to figure out and find new location.

Eurocar charged me an additional €30 per day for the car considering I was late arriving. The car provided was newer with modern electronics that were not useful and almost caused for an accident multiple times. There was no choice of car and I would have lost my money to change companies. Terrible company taking advantage of customers when in need. Also, the employee assisting was extremely rude and non-apologetic.

I was mis sold an upgrade as the agent told me wrong figures and wouldn’t show me the contract till after I had paid, then refused to cancel it and honour my original booking. Also didn’t explain correctly the pre paying fuel so I ended up being charged a full tank in stead of for 1/4. So overall an experience I was expecting to cost £120 has cost £380

Terrible. We got to Budget and although we paid for a convertible they said they didn’t have any. They added hidden fees, including a hidden gas charge and windshield protection charge. They also ignored us when we informed them of a low tire pressure in the front right tire, which later resulted in a flat tire. 0 stars, another scamming car rental company.

First, the staff at the counter pressured me and intentionally provided misleading information regarding the vehicle insurance. Second, they assigned me a vehicle that did not match the agreed-upon specifications. Although they later exchanged it for another one, they never updated the contract. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent car rental attempt at Barcelona Airport. Despite having a confirmed reservation and providing all required details, including my credit card from Kosovo, I was informed upon arrival that Budget does not accept credit cards from my region. This refusal caused significant inconvenience and additional expenses, as I had to secure a rental from another company, GoldCar, at four times the original cost. Furthermore, at no point during the reservation process was I informed of this regional restriction, which I find unacceptable.

Hertz refused to accept my husband picking up the car instead of me, despite having sent an email to hertz to inform of this and him having the credit card for the reservation. He ended up having to pay $500 more for a new reservation at the counter.

When picking up my vehicle, they insisted I take a hybrid vehicle saying it was going to get better mileage for the price and save me on gas but it had worse mileage compared to the vehicle I had reserved, so I really just paid more for gas and more for the vehicle they upsold me on. There was no financial benefit.

Fox / Goldcar – Barcelona Airport | Do Not Book. Ever. ⭐ 0/5 I booked through Kayak, which is exactly why I am leaving this review here. Kayak users deserve to know what they are walking into before trusting this company with their travel plans. What happened I arrived at the Fox/Goldcar desk in Barcelona with a confirmed reservation. The agent immediately told me my car was unavailable, that it would take two hours, and that only larger vehicles were on offer at three to four times my original rate. I declined. I cancelled on the spot and made a new booking for the same vehicle category, listed as available on the platform at half the price she had been quoting me. I returned to the desk minutes later. The new agent claimed my reservation did not appear in the system. It did. A colleague confirmed it, but a note had already been entered internally instructing all staff to refuse me service. An employee had gone into the system and flagged my account for refusal simply because I would not overpay. What followed was two hours of manipulation. The quoted price jumped from 20 euros to 180 euros with no justification. Both agents spoke exclusively in Spanish between themselves, coordinating how to block me. When I walked out to the vehicle lot to find help, they abandoned their own desk, closed it, and physically followed me outside to make sure no colleague would assist me either. I left after two hours with no car. I booked elsewhere and had keys in hand within minutes. These agents appeared to systematically target standard-rate bookings, pressuring clients into expensive upgrades or refusing service altogether. The price shown on Kayak is not the price they intend to honor. My documents were held for thirty minutes at the start while the agent pretended everything was fine. Then the refusals began. This was not confusion. This was a deliberate strategy, executed by two staff members working in coordination. Bottom line Do not book Fox or Goldcar through any platform, and especially not for Barcelona. The staff are dishonest, unprofessional, and organized in their refusal to serve clients who will not pay inflated prices. Zero out of five. The worst service experience of my life. Book anywhere else.

Bait and switch, the price was very cheap online, US$14 per day. I only needed the car overnight in between two flights. When I went to pick it up, they said all these additional things were mandatory and it would be 105€ plus a deposit. I just decided not to take the car, that price is crazy.
