Budapest hotels near Széchenyi István tér

Pros: Location is very good, restaurants in the hotel are expensive but great (it has NOBU and others), the rooms are good, we got an upgrade and the room was great.

Pros: I have been planning to stay in Budapest for over a year now. It was really important to me that the hotel has an excellent location and I preferred the spa experience over the view of the Danube. However...

Pros: This hotel was in the most perfect location! The Xmas market was right behind the hotel, the river and Chain bridge were about 2-3 blocks away, and the famous shopping street, Vaci uti was 1 block away. The rooms were so comfortable, and they provided slippers and plush bathrobes.

Pros: Convenient to walk around, pretty near shopping district, lovely rooms, comfortable bed and generally well-equipped all around. The Es Bistro was also a highlight. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: The receptionists were generally VERY helpful, including one who worked the phone for ten or fifteen minutes and got me an incomprehensible deal on a personal day trip to the tokaji wine region, picked up and dropped off at the hotel, with tours of three vineyards and tastings with the nicest guide ever, scheduled less than two days before the trip. This wad a highlight of my stay in Hungary. They also let me extend my stay for two additional nights jist the day before my scheduled checkout, although the cost of the room went up rather significsntly (it was very cheap to start, though, considering the quality of the hotel). The typical hotel provisions to the room are rather minimal though (soap extremely tiny, no slippers, only one box of tissues), so I found myself asking for things at the front desk a lot, which made me feel a bit awkward.

Pros: Excellent location. Very close to metro and busses. Quiet location just off main street. Steps from opera house. Room was very nice . Comfortable bed, clean. I was on first floor and the view was of wall. Not a problem as I did not spend much time in the room. The breakfast was excellent with great variety. Staff helpful and friendly.

Pros: Great hotel! Clean and right in the middle of Budapest (the opera house is literally right next door). Front desk (Agnes) was very helpful and accommodateing. Breakfast was nice as well. Would definitely return.

Pros: The staff was friendly and hard working. The breakfast was great and kept me full until supper time. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. Enjoyed using the treadmill in the fitness center. With today's strong US dollar, you can live like a king in Budapest at the K+K Hotel.

Pros: Hotel is in a great location in the Jewish quarter- loads of brilliant bars and restaurants nearby. Loved the pool. Decor is gorgeous.

Pros: The hotel had a beautiful lobby and the rooms were well-equipped and clean. At first blush, the neighborhood seemed quite gritty but upon further exploration, we found some great restaurants and cafes and ended up really liking the location.

Pros: The Location just on the edge of the town on the riverside is excellent. if your expecting the sterile look of a premier inn or other large chain of hotels then don't stay here. The Gellert gives you glimpse of a bygone age. Wood panelling and colourful glass decorate the interior. Yes its a bit frayed around the edges, but then so am I and I am not 100 years old. The service was attentive and helpful and the facilities more than acceptable for its price bracket and rating. Yes you can get a more modern and predictable experience but I consider myself an individual character in life and so the Gellert has individual character. I came to see the city of Budapest and not spend all my time looking under the carpet for hotel faults, so savour its uniqueness, charm, history and enjoy. Thank you for the experience.

Pros: The hotel is old but clean and well maintained. Our rooms were large and the bathrooms huge by European standards. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast is great and access is very easy by metro and bus, both right across the street from the hotel. The thermal spas were fantastic and although busy not crowded. Use the spas on the side of the swimming pool, it attracts less visitors. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Will certainly return.

Pros: Staff was attentive and pleasant. Breakfast is amazing, huge and many choices which is included in room price. Price was very reasonable. Access to the bath house is so convenient and guests get discounted entry, it's wonderful to walk down in your big terry cloth robe and enjoy the bath house, towels are also provided by the hotel, added perk. Tram is directly across the street and allows access to all directions in the city. Views are stunning of the bridges and river. We were there in November so not crowded at all.
