I showed up and they told me they didn’t have a car for me and would need to be placed on a waitlist with no guarantee of a car, even though I had a confirmation # from them. They were quite rude about it as well. They had cars on the lot but were only available as upgrades and cost more money. There were numerous others in the same boat. They blamed it on crowdstrike which I understand but the customer service was very poor.

I rented the car and couldn’t pick it up when I arrived. Fortunately, I didn’t need it until the following morning. When I went back the next morning, the person who was working there said that the person who had worked the day before I was telling lies, and there was no guarantee I could have the car then either. As a business, this kind of behavior on all ends is unacceptable.

I was so thankful to book a low cost, last minute rental. However, I was redirected from the budget line to the Avis line, there was one employee which took 45 minutes to get to the one employee there. That’s unfortunate but understandable. Regrettably, I was then redirected to the “fastbreak” location downstairs which had an additional 45 MINUTE wait. Signage next to the sign mentioning going to Avis would be helpful to avoid much of this situation in the future.

This was the SDF airport Budget rental counter. They told me I was unable to rent without a credit card on hand. Fair, I didn't know that was necessary. They then directed me 10 miles away to a Budget location they said could take my debit card. When I arrived, the second location was filthy, stinky and creepy. The clerk there told me they couldn't take debit card either, and the airport clerk probably told me that just to get rid of me. Because there were no accommodations or ways for someone without a credit card on hand to even consider renting a car, we had to call me elderly mother to drive 5 hours to pick us up so we could drive another five hours back to Pittsburgh. Miserable experience, I will never even try to rent from Budget again, and I will likely never rent a car again at all.

Pros:

Picking up at the airport was really difficult of you are not familiar with the process. I called for instructions on where to go and got nowhere with the call center. The call was then dropped. The local folks on the other hand were great - friendly, professional and helpful.

Although we've had mediocre experience with Dollar Rent-A-Car before, this one I definitely rate excellent. Pick-up was seamless, and drop-off even faster. Employees were courteous. Car was clean. Thankful they've upped their game!

I was very disappointed that I had to wait for a car when I had booked it 2 months in advance. There should be no need to wait for a car….they told me that it was busy because it was spring break. You shouldn’t rent out more cars than you can supply.

Agent at desk was friendly

Cons:

I was assigned a car but it was not in it's location. I had to find an employee to find another car for me, which took about 15 minutes. The car I received was dirty and definitely wasn't cleaned beyond pre-covid standards. I'm not a germ freak, but greasy fingerprints on the screen and doors and a greasy feeling steering wheel are just nasty.

The fact that a spouse is not free to drive?! Really in this day and time? Thrifty is on my short list to never use again.

The price and the vehicle was great.

Cons:

At pickup, the vehicle was not ready, and had to wait. The help desk seemed to not want to be working. There was no information given about the return of the vehicle. I had to ask about return from the man working the gate, but even that was not enough. At return, there was no one to close the transaction, Just a sign saying to leave the keys in the car. I had to work with customer service for the next two days to get the extra daily charges removed from my credit card account because no one at the drop off location closed the account. I'll not rent from Thrifty and associated companies again.

I reserved a car, paid for a ride to the airport to pick up the car, there was no car available, the staff was rude and indifferent, they suggested that I sit in the airport for up to eight hours, waiting for a car to become available, they also couldn’t guarantee that a car would become available, I paid for a ride back to my home from the airport. I spent 60 bucks to get back-and-forth from the airport and I did not get a car. I can’t imagine how this could be worse. And I can’t imagine that Avis cares

Went to rental office and no SUVs were available. We had already waited an hour in line and had to leave the office. Went to the airport and had to pay full price for an suv rental. The car had not been cleaned. It drove well. Staff was nice at the airport Avis facility.

Car had a screw in the tire and could not call directly to any Avis stores to find a replacement. Came in to the Franklin Tn location ant Embassey Suites and was told there was a car coming in and after two days finally left with no car replacement! Customer service was terrible. The maintenance light came on had to find a Avis rental to bring it in. All the cars were filthy dirty. Many smelled like cigarettes. Will not use Avis again.

Terrible vehicle. The exact opposite of the 'economy' class that we reserved. Got 26mpg. We are used to 54mpg. Rolling catastrophe. Dirty inside and out. Smelled bad. Worse design. Should be junked.
