Las Vegas hotels in Downtown

Cons: Front desk staff, Michelle. I checked in a day later than my pre-PAID reservation. I called 2 days prior to ask about adjusting my reservation and was denied. Michelle was unsure if my room was available, when she did get a supervisors approval she let me know while I reserved 2 queen beds I would take 1 king bed. Further I asked could she extend my stay, I understand the room is about $300 for the 1 night. She said NO. I would need to check out Sunday by 11am and return at 3pm if I wanted to reserve a room for 1 night I should go to the website. I said but I am standing here with my credit card in hand, willing to pay going rate to stay another night. She said go on line. Her customer service is horrible. Saturday 830am the band began sound check at the pool deck. Sunday morning the hotel maids began pounding on my door at 9:00AM to let me know it was time for me to check out. All around disappointing experience and stay. All because of the people, staff. I checked out on Sunday as Michelle instructed and took my self and all my money to another hotel. I will not be returning to the Downtown Grand. Bye Michelle!

Cons: my first room was way too loud as I was on the Street side where the stage was set up and the music did not stop till 3 AM. The elevator never went to the ground floor even during business hours. and when I reserved the room there was no mention of resort fees as there were for other rooms, this could be an issue with AMOMA leaving this out, however I had to pay resort fees of 19.95 a night when I checked out which I was told is now 23.05 a night. I have stayed a the Golden Nugget and never had a noise issue, the reason I chose the grand over the nugget was because there was supposedly no resort fee. Also I have used Kayak several times in the past and have been able to cancel my room a few days before but could not with this reservation made with AMOMA via Kayak. Also Could not get a late check out

Cons: I wouldn't bring my daughter to Freemont Street

Cons: "included breakfast" was only for 2 people event though we reserved a room for 3... and really basic breakfast in a 5 x 5 meters room separate from the main restaurant. Bad water pressure in shower, poorly designed bathrooms. The complementary parking is across the street. Its a 10 minute walk from the parking lot to the room.

Cons: I don't like hard, overstuffed pillows for sleep. Ask for soft and flat at check in as they have them available.

Cons: The table games were closed during the day.

Cons: The showers are a little odd, with their half-glass "door", and the water pressure left a bit to be desired. But the cleanliness more than made up for it!

Cons: cleanliness in the rooms could have been better. Beds felt likeboxsprings.

Cons: The shower. I get for design purposes that a half a door seems cool lol but the water pressure was so low it made a 10 minute shower turn into a 30 minute one. Kind of a hassle.

Cons: - The staff was mostly friendly and courteous. But during our stay, we encountered 3 hotel staff that were rude. - We brought our ROKU only to find out that the HDTV has a second HDMI port available, but it is DISABLED by the hotel (confirmed by staff). After looking around, we found the tiny set top box and HDMI junction box underneath the desk. We promptly unplugged the HDMI cord and plugged our Roku instead. Problem solved. - As other reviewers noted, the internet was comparable to 512k DSL speed. Streaming content was unbearable at peak hours.

Cons: The noise level of the bars below. Also, the facilities were not all functioning (elevators and escalators). Also the location of the room was not very convenient.

Cons: There was no complimentary coffee in the room. Walking across the street for coffee was inconvenient.

Cons: Beer selection at the main Video Poker bar. Need draft beers and a better variety.

Cons: I never made it to my hotel because The Cortez was already sold out even tho my reservation with Kayak went through we were turned away when we arrived. Luckily we we're locals, my girl friend and I just looking for a staycation so we just went home since we were too tired and frustrated with the lack of communication between the third party which was actually getaroom.com and El Cortez. If we were from out of town we would've been extremely disappointed, hopefully this issue is addressed so that it does not happen to anyone else in the future especially for tourists.

Cons: Crystal an El Cortez employee called me on my cell phone the 2nd to last day of our reservation threatening me. She told me that they were throwing all of our stuff out, that I should have already checked-out, that I hadn't paid etc. etc..... I explained in a calmly manner that it must be a mistake. My husband and I had booked the room for that whole weekend and that we had already paid for it. Crystal argued over the phone w/ me saying that I was in the wrong and that we better come down immediately to retrieve our things before someone else takes off with them. I again pressed that there must be some sort of mix-up. Crystal then proceeded to tell me to "come down and prove it". I was at a music festival w/ no ins-or-outs. I had to leave the festival which I paid $75 to be at to "prove" that I was in fact telling the truth. She was the RUDEST employee I have ever encountered, a real NASTY bit** They had cancelled our key-cards so we weren't even able to access the Cabana to see if our stuff was laid outside. My husband called and talked to them. He also had to leave the festival (another $75 down the drain) to go to the front desk to straighten everything out. They in fact had messed up and mixed my name up w/ another guest. They were very unapologetic. They reissued key cards for us that ended up not working. We had to go back to the front desk to explain that we weren't able to access our room. Finally, 4 key cards later we were able to access our room and check on our belongings. I have never been that angered at a business in my life. Here I was having a grand old time at this awesome music festival to get called out of the blue and threatened by CRYSTAL the El Cortez employee/operator that all of my belongings were being thrown out on the street. My husband and I have stayed at this hotel every memorial weekend for the past 5 years. We have never been treated this horribly before. They (Crystal especially) ruined what would have been a near "perfect" vacation. Needless to say we will never be staying there again. It's rather unfortunate.

Cons: You can hear the music from Fremont Street all night. Could not sleep because the bass was pumping all night. I complained to staff, but they didn't do nothing. They said they couldn't move me rooms. They said I needed to contact the hotel manager the next day. Stupid

Cons: The price and the people playing rap music until 2:30 in the morning. I paid $73 on line for my room and when I got to the hotel I was told I would have to pay another $11 "resort fee" and a $40 deposit. I was awoke at 12:30 to the sound of rap music and assumed it was coming from Fremont Street. It woke me up again at 1:30 and again at 2:30. This time I had to call the front desk and complain. I guess they looked in to it because about twenty minutes later it stopped. I will never stay here again.

Cons: The casino area smelled very bad and strong. To the point I was close to throwing up. Though once you are in your room that isn't a problem. The beds are very uncomfortable.

Cons: The bathroom had pink toilet, tub, and sink. Haven't seen those in years. The porcelain under the sink faucet was chipped and there was a lot of rust from underneath. It was hard to adjust the temperature of the water out of the faucet, it was too hot or cold. The tub and sink drains were very slooooowwww. The bathroom tile floor looked like it had a partial shoe print on it. Called housekeeping immediately upon arrival and then went out to gamble. Afterwards, the drains were still slow. They said the stains on the tile floor were embedded in the tile and apologized. I think the shoe print was hard to clean off because the tiles had some sort of grout sealant applied over the tiles without cleaning them before hand. The ice machine on the floor was out of order on days 1-4 and 6. I had to go down to floors 2 or 3 to get ice because our room cards will only allow access to those floors, 15 and the casino floor. We got a new bag for the ice bucket on day 6. Room service needs more emphasis and attention. We don't abuse the facilities we have stayed in and try to treat it like our own. It seems like the room attendants just whip through the rooms because they have too many rooms to clean or they don't care very much. Doesn't say much about hotel management in any case.

Cons: The staff was absolutely horrible and unfriendly. Beware of hidden fees NOT visible in the fine print.

We called down to the front desk and they said the north towers ac doesn't work that well they had to move us. DONT STAY IN THE NORTH TOWER! For a summer vacation stay in south tower.

The bathroom was disappointed, no towel hooks near the shower, no shelves to store my hair and face products, a soap dish would have been nice to have. The lighting is awful, turned on every light on and it was still very dark and dingy. The people next to us smoked so much marijuana and left their door partially opened. The only reason I stayed there was because a family member did not want pay a resort fee. If you want on Fremont, stay in the new towers at The Golden Nugget, their suites are fantastic and beautiful. Otherwise, stay on strip

Cons: I was given a smoking room, although I asked for a non-smoking room. I have stayed in the hotel in the past, several times, so at the very least, they should know my preferences. I was "upgraded" to a "suite." The "suite" was dinghy, ans smelled like poop!!!! When I complained and asked for another room, they said they cannot move me since their computers were offline. so they sent a housekeeper to spray my room. Thank goodness I only had to endure the room for 4 hours since I stayed up late, and had to leave early in the morning. The smell never left the room.... It was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel!!! Their only saving factor is their location and the price. And that's it!

Cons: I've spent plenty of time at the Four Queens over the years, but exclusively on the Casino floor. The environment was always friendly and their tables provided some of the best entertainment value in the city... On this occasion however I made the mistake of booking a room at the hotel. Within seconds of walking into our room we knew that we'd made a HUGE mistake. Though it was listed as clean, it was absolutely filthy. The beds were made, but pillows were strewn about. The carpet in both the hallway and the room hadn't been cleaned in weeks and there were dirty towels strewn about the bathroom. Bare in mind that had it even been clean, IN NO WAY did the room we entered resemble the pictures online, and this was in the "remodeled" tower. We left immediately and went downstairs to check out. They allowed us to do so but would not compensate us for any charges given that we'd purchased the room online. After contacting the Kayak vendor, we went back and forth for nearly 2 hours and the best they could do was to refund half of the purchase price. So essentially, I was forced to pay for a filthy room that I stayed in for a total of 5 minutes. Just don't do it... if you need to stay downtown go to the Nugget instead!

Cons: Hotel registration is to slow. Restaurant is over priced. You can clearly hear outside noise inside your hotel room which makes it difficult to sleep. I would suggest another hotel to stay at.

Cons: My wife and I usually spend 90% of our gaming time here due to the fact that my wife likes to play $3 blackjack, however, they never opened opened a $3 table. Not sure if they stopped the $3 blackjack completly or not. It was always a popular table. Not sure we will stay again as we like to start and end our day @ the tables.

Cons: My first room was on a smoking floor. I had a headache all night. The shower was also clogged so I showered in pool by the end. I demanded to move rooms for my second night. The next room was on a non-smoking floor but it still smelled and ingot another headache. The shower in that room was also clogged and so was the sink. Both rooms had stains in several places too. The hotel itself caters to people from Hawaii, which I'm not. It can be a little alienating. It's also an older crowd and kind of sad. This is definitely no strip location. Fremont street is ok for a walk though.

Cons: The non smoking rooms smelt like cigarette smoke. Compared to a few other hotels, California was the worst. We expected smoke but it seemed like the ventilation needed some attention.

Cons: House keeping "Threw Away" My Rasberry Pi 3, the internet is wildly overpriced for 2016, They forced me to change rooms mid-stay. and Eric Eisenberg, Eric Eisenberg, Director Of Hotel Operations was completely unhelpful in compensating me for all that went wrong. His response to my missing hardware and move was "Can I buy you a coffee?" Just a nightmare but hey you get what you pay for....

Cons: Been about 3 years since i last visited. I didn't realize that smoking was again allowed inside the Vegas casino's. That pretty much ruined it. I guess they need to do what ever they need to do to get business. So while understandable, not fun.

Cons: Bed was a bit hard and you could feel the springs. My AC ran all night to keep the room cool compared to my mother in laws room on the 19th floor. She had a newer ac system with a wall thermostat.

Cons: Rooms do need updating. We came with a large group and had quite a few rooms. Everyone ended up with some type of rash before leaving. Not sure if it was the hard water in the hotel, or whatever the sheets and blankets are being cleaned with.

Cons: that you can only ask for one extra pillow and it took forever to get it. and they need more 24 hour resturantes open. it was a busy weekend with concerts on fremont plus they had a craps tournament going and a huge line at their cafe at 3am. had to venture out to north vegas to get food cuz we didnt want to go back to fremont.

Cons: Hard to take a shower when the tub doesn't drain.
