They never answered the phone

When I input the data on the form to rent a car, I put a pick-up time of 1 pm on 21 Dec 21 and a return time of 05:30 am on 28 Dec 21. After I selected the car and printed out my reservation, I found that somebody's computer (Kayak, Priceline, Dollar) had changed the return time to 1 pm on 28 Dec 21. I called the phone number on the reservation three times and each time, I was connected to a Hertz computer. I then went on line and looked for a Dollar phone number and found one and called it and after a 20 minute wait, I was connected to a chat person who I chatted with for 50 minutes and never was able to get a straight answer to how I could get the return time corrected so after wasting about an hour and 15 minutes accomplishing NOTHING, I decided to try getting it changed when I picked the car up in Las Vegas. When I picked up the car, I learned that the University Center site in Las Vegas is only open 7 hours per day, 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm. I asked if I could drop it off somewhere else at 5:30 am and was told I could drop it at the airport (1 mile away) but there would be a $60 drop off fee. I didn't like that answer and thought about returning it on Monday afternoon and taking a taxi to the airport early Tuesday morning. After finding that the one mile taxi ride from the airport to Dollar cost $20, I learned that just to get in a taxi in Las Vegas costs $20 and they no longer have their costs per tenths or fifths of a mile displayed on the cab vehicles. Thus I thought I would go to the University Center site on Friday afternoon and find out about paying the $60 drop off fee to leave it at the airport. The young black lady at the University Center site told me the airport location was open 24 hours per day. I thought this was ok but to my consernation, on Monday evening, I got on the computer and found that the website for Dollar stated the airport location opened at 8 am which was the same time as my flight home. I then found a phone number for Dollar and called it and I guess it was a corporate call center in Florida and the lady I talked to there told me after checking that the airport location opened at 6 am which was still much later than I wanted to return the car. This phone call lasted for nearly 30 minutes and left me very frustrated at Dollar, Kayak, & Priceline. I did return the car to the airport location and rode the shuttle bus back to the terminal and thankfully my flight was delayed until 8:50 am so I had reasonable time to clear security and take the shuttle to my gate in Terminal D. What I learned is to NOT TRUST KAYAK, PRICELINE, or DOLLAR Rent a Car. During my business career, I probably had somewhere between 500 and 1000 car rentals and this was BY FAR THE WORST and I will never use KAYAK, PRICELINE, or DOLLAR EVER AGAIN for anything and I would advise everyone else to not use them as the people at the University Center lied to me about the airport location being open 24 hours per day, probably because they thought that is what I wanted to hear and Dollar customer service is TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. I also found out it is associated with Hertz and Thrifty car rentals, so I will never use any of those again either. From now on I will make my reservations DIRECT with a car rental company instead of thru a third party that only seems to be interested in taking my money and ignoring what I requested when inputting the info to rent the car.

The vehicle had a major oil leak but I could not get Hertz or Dollar to exchange it for me.

Overall it was a good experience, the back hatch on the GMC Yukon had an intermittent latching issue that resulted in us loosing a bag with $350 worth of merchandise out of the back of the SUV on Las Vegas Blvd, which we never got back! Once we figured out the quirk with the hatch everything went well and it was a good experience.

Over charge for broke car on the road ridiculous

Their Vegas office hours are nonsense, 8 am to 4 pm. This does not accommodate long road trips and travel schedules! Also the car was only about 7/8 filled when I received it, despite being marked as full. I needed to get on the road and therefore didn't say anything--alas.

Long wait times hidden fees and poor customer service

I waited at the rental counter for over an hour with an agent who was inept. He paged 2 different supervisors, who did little to help and walked away. I was eventually given a paper contract due to 'computer difficulties'. I was told to get my car, but had to get help in the parking lot as that car was not there. My 'luxury' rental that I paid extra for, was in such poor condition-rotors were warped, air didn't work, sunroof broken-it was unsafe to drive. Upon returning the car, I was then overcharged by $200

Total rip off. I paid almost double what it initially said.

They called me when I was already on my way to the rental center after I had completed my booking that they didn't have any vehicles available for me to rent.
