Made a reservation just to have them call me while on the shuttle to them saying they didn’t have the car I requested or any car that could substitute. Get your inventory and availability portals fixed please.

We specifically rented a full sized passenger van to be picked up at the Denver airport sight. We called the day before to make sure they had the van (we have had previous bad experiences) & discovered the they did NOT have a full sized van for us. They had one at another location, but, since we had booked through you, they couldn’t give us the same price for it, it would be nearly double the cost. Also, since it was less than 24 hours before pick up, they wouldn’t drive it to the airport location for us. We canceled our reservation.

Pros:

Due to extenuating circumstances (flight was delayed by 1.5hrs) they let me cancel reservation.

Cons:

Pick up was impossible, not actually at the airport Enterprise location, would have had to uber to the site. The rental location was only open until 6pm! Due to a flight delay, did not get there in time for rental. The reservation is NON transferrable (can't move your reservation to another location), NON changeable (can't go the next day), NOT cancellable (except in circumstance above). The rental fee for an airport location is only $10-20 more per week.

Went to pick up the rental car and the rental car office was closed. Was told to get on the bus and go to another place that has also hurts and I did. And had to pay $150 more.

I called to cancel my reservation and it wasn’t done. I couldn’t pick up my rental on the first day due to Hurricane Ian. My flight to Colorado from Florida was cancelled. I called to change the date on the reservation and I was told the rates are more expensive for only 2 days instead of the originally booked 3 days. I advised them to cancel my reservation and it was never done.

The car reeked of weed. Felt like I needed to wash my clothes when I got out. When I arrived at my destination, my host asked me if I had smoked pot on the way — which I had not.

This Hertz location literally does not exist. I showed up and it was abandoned. I called and Hertz told me that, despite sending me a confirmation email for my reservation and accepting payment in advance, they had closed this location months earlier. They also told me they had no other cars available in Denver, leaving me stranded in a city where I had no place to stay. It could not possibly have been a worse experience, unless, perhaps, a Hertz employee had run me over with the car and then rented it to another customer.

Everything else. They lied to me to upsell me on a higher insurance plan and their charges were not correctly reflected on my credit card statement. They were friendly agents, but the car was dirty and had dings all around it.

Cons:

I made a reservation online to pick-up a car the same day. I showed up with about 20 minutes before they closed, only to be informed that there were two cars left in their inventory and they only had two reservations in their computer. The problem was that there were three people waiting with confirmed reservations in the lobby and none of us were the two reservations listed in his computer. When I asked 'if one of the reservations in the system did not show up in the next 15 minutes could I have the remaining car?', he said he was leaving in 15 minutes, so it didn't matter. Overall, a very frustrating experience that left us without a car when we really needed one. All parts of this process failed, from the reservation to the customer service.

Cons:

I rented a van from Sixt for 5 days. My family was traveling from Denver into the mountains after arriving to the airport. We had to take a train downtown because the booking was not made for the airport. I had called to change this, but they told me it was not possible.... the day we arrived they confirmed the car was ready for pickup. We arrive by 430pm and they inform me there is a hold on my account. I asked what this meant and they informed me ‘they have no access to see why there is a hold and they also would not be able to give me the rental car.’ They told me ‘I had to contact their corporate customer service to resolve this issue’ - but they were closed because it was Sunday afternoon. They left us stranded downtown with no rental car and no explanation as to why they wouldn’t give us the car we prepaid for and had confirmation of reservation.

Pros:

Lucas at the Double Tree in Denver was very helpful and understanding after my flight was delayed. Was able to recover some of the pricing since I did not meet my reservation time. 4 of 5 stars, would use again.

Cons:

The only issue I had was with my airline, not Avis. Heads up: Just get the vehicle at the airport. I tried to save the $70 handling fee for airport pickup and drop off, and paid nearly that cost just for the ride to my hotel 45 mins away. Hindsight is 20/20, use the airport.

Cons:

Not offer bookings for a store that is going to close before you can get the rental. Booked a car 15 min before they closed and couldn't get to the rental office in time. Called Avis and they wouldn't stay open for me. Experience sucked
