Absolutely nothing.

I rented a van from Sixt for 5 days. My family was traveling from Denver into the mountains after arriving to the airport. We had to take a train downtown because the booking was not made for the airport. I had called to change this, but they told me it was not possible.... the day we arrived they confirmed the car was ready for pickup. We arrive by 430pm and they inform me there is a hold on my account. I asked what this meant and they informed me ‘they have no access to see why there is a hold and they also would not be able to give me the rental car.’ They told me ‘I had to contact their corporate customer service to resolve this issue’ - but they were closed because it was Sunday afternoon. They left us stranded downtown with no rental car and no explanation as to why they wouldn’t give us the car we prepaid for and had confirmation of reservation.

Standard SUV

Becuase we used Kayak ( a third party) we essentially got screwed over. Our pick up site was not where we originally planned and by the time we arrived at the correct location they had given our rental car to someone else. They had no other cars to rent to us. We were charged for a car we never received. Enterprise was unable to provide a refund due to using Kayak and we can not get ahold of someone with Kayak to discuss our situation. Extremely frustrating.

They called and td me that there were no cars available to rent after I made the reservation, and was on my way to pick up the car. They said that there was a glitch in their system that allowed them to make a reservation when they were sold out of cars. Just said "Good Luck finding a can in Denver". No offer to help in any way. Bad service.

Made a reservation just to have them call me while on the shuttle to them saying they didn’t have the car I requested or any car that could substitute. Get your inventory and availability portals fixed please.

Cons:

The staff at the location did not have a car available for me and I was never made aware. I called to see if it would be ready early and that’s when I was informed of the issue. They had to go get one from the airport which resulted in me picking up my car 3 hours late and even then they never assured me it would be there they just kept saying to show at 3 and they would see what they could do

The car reeked of weed. Felt like I needed to wash my clothes when I got out. When I arrived at my destination, my host asked me if I had smoked pot on the way — which I had not.

This Hertz location literally does not exist. I showed up and it was abandoned. I called and Hertz told me that, despite sending me a confirmation email for my reservation and accepting payment in advance, they had closed this location months earlier. They also told me they had no other cars available in Denver, leaving me stranded in a city where I had no place to stay. It could not possibly have been a worse experience, unless, perhaps, a Hertz employee had run me over with the car and then rented it to another customer.

After taking a train then bus from the airport to the location, we found it had been permanently closed and locked up. We called hertz customer service and when I asked why we hadn’t been notified of it closing they said it was because we had booked on Kayak. She said if we had booked directly with hertz they would have contacted us. When she put us on hold to see if there were other cars in the area, we wound up getting disconnected. We tried five other rental car companies in the area before finding a car and wound up paying $500 instead of the $140 we had planned to pay. Although I have always had good success booking rooms through Kayak, I would not recommend ever renting a car through them. I will not be renting with hertz in the future.
