I had a blowout on the freeway shortly after picking up the vehicle. Realized then they had rented me a car with no spare tire and I had to get towed at 10:30 at night. The next day they sent a tow truck to pick up the vehicle, but made me get my own ride to the airport to pick up a new rental. They did offer to pay for an Uber, but it was incredibly inconvenient. I had originally been told they would deliver me a new rental, but then they said they didn’t have the staff to do that. It literally took half a day to get all the arrangements in place and pick up the new car. After all that inconvenience, they only refunded me $120 from a two week rental. I will never, never, never, rent from Payless again.Reviewed 23 June 2021

Cons:My flight was delayed until 2.5 hrs after the rental office closed. I called and tried to change the pick up time until the next morning. They told me that was fine but to price would have to go up by almost double. When I asked why using the same car for less time would cost twice as much, he stated he could only do what the computer allowed. I asked to talk to the supervisor and he said sure and then it hung up. I found a different car rental for less money and a nicer car.Reviewed 29 May 2021

Pros:Staff was friendly.Cons:They did not have any 4 wheel drive options. I reserved the standard-sized SUV for a 4 day ski trip in Salt Lake, and was given a 2 wheel drive SUV. They stated it was "first come first serve" and I could try to come back the next morning. Why even offer a 2 wheel drive SUV in a ski town that is known for closing the two main access roads to non-4 wheel drive vehicles. My final bill was also $40 greater then the agreed amount, despite returning with a full tank.Reviewed 4 Feb 2021

Pros:The car was new but smelled of burning oilCons:Pick up was the worst experience I've ever had renting a car. The two associates working had no regard for the customers waiting over an hour to pick up their reservations. At times both associates were just helping one customer, the associate stood and watched for 15 minutes the other using the computer. I will never use Payless again at SLCReviewed 1 Feb 2021
