It was ok. The personnel at the counter should have a better attitude and provide better customer service. The gentleman who took care of me was borderline rude. On the other hand, the vehicle was very clean, but it had a very bad smell. We had to lower the windows for a while.Reviewed 29 Sept 2026

15+ people in line, only one agent. Stood in line for 20 min, line did not move, the guy spent the whole time helping 1 person. My math said I would have been in line 5 hours. Took an Uber to ORF, was home in bed before I would have gotten my car.Reviewed 13 Aug 2026

The folks in the Richmond office were fine. However, due to a delayed flight, I had to change my car pick-up to Roanoke, which I did over the phone with Budget. The agent I spoke to did not indicate that there would be any problem with this, but when I arrived at the Roanoke Budget desk there was a sign saying “we cannot honor same-day reservations”, and they did not have a car for me. The Roanoke Budget agent was unhelpful and unsympathetic, and I was not able to reach a representative over the phone. I eventually had to rent a car from Hertz. Budget should not allow reservations to be made if they cannot be kept. I was extremely dissatisfied with this.Reviewed 29 July 2026

I had a car reserved for July 3rd. My flight was changed and budget said I didn't need to change the pick up time bc they hold the car for 24hrs. But when I arrived they had closed for the day more than 3 hours early!! and I was staying over an hour from the airport. I had to call a ride and go back and get the car the next day. They said they were out of cars and had to put me through with avis and I didn't even get the vehicle I had reserved....they only had a smaller vehicle which really effected our transportation on the trip. This was the worst experience I’ve had with Budget ever, at any location. 1. It was very important that I have a large SUV and they did not have the size of vehicle I requested available. 2. I was passed back and forth between an employee and a manager with little communication as to why. It was very confusing and time-consuming. 3. Although I’ve been a long time Budget customer, my information was re-input into the computer (taking even more time) . I’m also a FastPass member. 4. I’ve never rented from Budget before, and as a business traveler, I was a bit disappointed. I rented a mid to small sized SUV, and was given a Ford Bronco Sport. The vehicle had some slight wear and tear as it had almost 56,000 miles on it and it was not very clean. I did not notice the dirty dash until I drove out of the rental garage. I would think a car with that high of mileage would not still be in service but apparently they must not have any lower mileage vehicles, or they are reserved for Budget rental car regulars. This rental certainly did not win me over. Needless to say, not sure if I might rent from Budget or refer them to anyone, anytime soon. Please do better next time.Reviewed 30 Apr 2026
