The person who rented the car to me assured me that the credit card I presented would only be used to put a hold on the rental but not pay for it. This was important as a different credit card was needed in order to rent the car without additional insurance. She turned out to be wrong. Luckily our rental was accident free so this mistake did not end up backfiring on us. It was distressing to me that she gave me the wrong information.Reviewed 25 Nov 2024

My experience with Budget was great but my experience with kayak was disappointing I was charged for supplemental insurance by a third party which gave the impression that they were associated with budget. When i spoke with the associate at the time of renting the vehicle I specifically stated I didn’t need supplemental insurance and they said ok. I was still charged because the insurance offered on the website has nothing to do with Budget and is basically a scam. You can’t even contact a representative in person to cancel or dispute the charge totally unacceptable business practice. Will not be patronizing Kayak any longerReviewed 24 Sept 2024

This location tried to up charge the vehicle charge from 120 to 600 and when I showed him the booking confirmation he claimed it was a mystery car and then came back with oh it’s and EV we have 6 of those available otherwise everything is sold out except the suv for $600/a day.. not what the booking confirmation showed so we rebooked with Enterprise no hikes, gimmicks or price gauging. Rental company tried to force me to take an electric vehicle saying it was their choice. I was told the car had a driving range of 200 miles and must be returned with 70% of battery life. Rental companies are stuck with electric cars that are not wanted by renters. This was a bait and switch situation. I was forced to take the large SUV at a higher price.Reviewed 4 June 2024

I booked a "mystery" car and was delighted with the car I got. Price was very good, and the counter service was excellent. Long wait for shuttle was the worst part, and lack of correct signage on leaving the airport was next worst (I ended up at a freeway entrance that was blocked off), but Budget was responsible for neither.Reviewed 13 May 2024

The cat we originally picked up did not have good fuel economy. We drove it for 3 days and then rang Budget to ask about exchanging it. They said take it in to Sacramento airport desk and they will sort it. We did this and the gentleman at the counter could not have been more helpful. We picked a Hyundai Elantra and it was perfect for our trip down south to the Grand Canyon and southern national parks.
