Office was clean and easy to get to.The car I reserved was not there. I needed an automatic, any automatic. Kayak showed this location as having several automatic transmission cars, one that I reserved. But when I went to pick up the car, they were totally out. So I had to book from Hertz at the airport and we were put about 3 hours behind schedule due to commute, etc.

NOTHINGTHEY DID NOT RESPECT THE RATE ON THE RESERVATION AND WANTED TO CHARGE 66 DOLLARS P/D FOR A SIMILAR CAR A VW GOL. beware of upselling- the car I had reserved was not available and the choice I was given was either a micro-sized car or an upsell - if the reserved car is not available it should be free. The vehicle given was old and rickety, having 70K on the clock. Crazy to be given that as an upsell. Also an unneccessary 'compulsory' that I have never had to pay before in Mexico insurance charge was added. I ended up paying just to get out but this was not good value for money

Car was clean and relatively new.Car had no gas in it when picked up. (Red light on). One of the wheels didn’t have air pressure with pressure notification light on at pick up. No credit was given when car was returned with Kore than half tank more at return. Credit card info was stolen from the system by someone who was trying to charge the card for other purposes.

The car did sit all of the people that we had in our party, but, we were not informed that you cannot have anyone under the age of 12 sitting in the front middle seat.When we arrived, they did not have our car available, even though we had a reservation. Our plane was delayed and their response was well you were not here at the time of the reservation. We had to wait an hour for a vehicle and nobody explained the huge price increase for insurance coverage until we were picking up the car.

A very used car at a high pricePickup and drop off were easy. Car fit our group. Decent gas mileage.Car was very beat up. Tires were bald. Had a blowout on one and since we were outside of DF we had to buy a used tire and pay for the replacement. Radio volume didn’t work. Springs poking through the seats due to wear. Ended up paying $125/day USD with insurance. Wouldn’t have minded the cost if it was a well maintained or newer vehicle.

We rented a car for less than U$ 400 , then at the desk they were charging up to U$ 1650, so Alamo charged the card above, for more than 4 times that original value, they overpasses my card quota, after a horrible time, they reversed charges but kept nearly 20%, so imagine, mexico by bus whit a disappointed wife, total disaster vacation thanks to a company named Alamo and Kayak as well very unfair... We had to pay more than double what was anticipated for the car rental. First, we rented it in my wife's name, but they stated she had to show her passport, which was not previously disclosed. As she had already been in Mexico and I was just arriving, she didn't have it with her, so the only way we could rent the car was if I was added as an additional driver, at an additional cost per day. Second, we have insurance coverage for rental cars on the credit card, but they stated we needed liability insurance. They showed us a document stating that this was a requirement with a price per day shown, but then stated that since we had a higher level car we had to pay more, but had no additional documentation to back that up. They finally made a small concession and gave us a tank of gas (worth about US$30 vs. over US$500 in additional fees). They said that we should not rent cars from Kayak or other 3rd parties, because the additional fees are not disclosed by them, but this is the first time I have had this problem, having previously rented cars with various 3rd parties in the U.S., Spain, Italy, England and Ireland. We rented an intermediate car with automatic transmission, but apparently that doesn't mean the same thing in Mexico. When we arrived, they brought out a standard transmission VW Vento, a sub-compact. We had to wait over a half hour for them to bring out a 2019 Nissan Versa, another sub-compact, which was as basic and gutless as they come. We then spent about 20 minutes inspecting the car as it was full of dings, scratches and tears in the seats, that if not documented properly, they would have tried to charge us for. This was my first experience renting a car in Mexico, so I don't know if the whole Mexican car rental industry operates this way, or if Alamo is worse, but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

NothingA lot of hidden fees. I had to go somewhere else to rent a car as when I got to the counter the total price was three times the amount I had reserved the car for. The customer service was not the best neither. First thing I was told is that even I had a reservation, it was not guaranteed for them to have a car available for me; these does not make sense for me, what is the point of making a reservation then?

NothingThey didn’t have car available and refused to honor reservation in any capacity. We had to scramble and call a ton of other places to find a car. They were not helpful at all and blamed it on Kayak for not confirming reservation with them.

Nothing, everything was wrong with my reservation. The Car, the price, the extra fees, the knowledge of the personnel at the pickupI reserved a 7 seat car and they offered me a 5 seat truck because they don't have 7 seat car on their inventory. Alamo doesn't have 7 seat cars or trucks. They have only 5 seat cars. I don't know why Kayak - Alamo offers 7 seat cars to customers and they don't have cars with that capacity. I called in advance Alamo to ask for extra insurance fees and an agent at their contact center confirmed there are no extra insurance fees because my reservation has included insurance and reservation fees, but at the pick-up location, they charged no refundable 2,000 dollars for the insurance fee plus 1,500 dollars refundable retention fee on my credit card. Clearly, the agent at the front desk was inexperienced and constantly he was asking my questions to his coworker. Finally, I asked him to call his manager to try to solve my questions. Also, The manager did not know Kayak is offering 7 seat trucks and did not know about the high insurance fees. The worst car rental experience. Poor customer service and lack of professionalism. The car itself was fine. The local rental car counter service was terrible. They demanded physical passports , even though there is NOTHING in the terms and conditions that state this. They wouldn’t accept photos or allow us to change it. They were terrible to deal with.

Pick - Up Staff was available.1. Drop off Staff was fast but checked the car 3 times to try and find dents or scratches to charge extra for. 2. After driving 1.5 hrs out of the city, the Key FOB started to malfunction and was sporadic in sending the single to start the car or lock/unlock the doors. This was anxiety producing as we were traveling for several days outside of the city. 3. Tire pressure light was on constantly 4. Car felt cheap even though it was a full-size sedan. 5. Car lacked power to merge on/off highways well and could barely make it up steep hills.

Rent ElsewhereI strongly recommend against renting a car from this location. I recently rented from this location and couldn't regret it more. I'm an Avis Preferred member who frequently rents cars for both business and personal travel in the US and abroad. I've rented cars in Jordan, Turkey, South Africa, and Georgia among other countries (just to offer some perspective). I waited over an hour at this location to receive my rental, which caused me to have to cancel plans; and on my return it took another forty-five minutes, which caused my taxi fare to double in price while I waited. The act of picking up a rental should never cause a customer to have to cancel appointments. Unfortunately, this isn't the worst of it. Upon my return, the employees claimed damage to a tire -- a "bump in the rubber" to be precise. The tire was is perfect working condition; again, the tire was not flat. When inspecting the vehicle before taking possession, the employees did not mention a need to inspect the tires, even after I prompted confirmation that we had reviewed all the necessary components of the vehicle. To summarize, the employee with whom I inspected the vehicle told me we'd covered everything and it was not necessary to inspect the tires, but upon return they changed their story and claimed damage. I had fortunately purchased full insurance (which absurdly tripled the cost of the rental), so this claim is of minor detail to me at this point. But I write this review to caution others from renting here, as I suspect that the employees will invent damage in order to charge you additional fines. The entire exchange seemed very much a scam, so consider your rental carefully and if possible, go elsewhere for a car in Mexico City. A final note: Avis Customer Service, whom I called to speak with about this experience, had little to say and offered nothing in the way of remedying this experience of mine. When renting from a known company, one expects consistent experience regardless of city or country, otherwise, I'd just rent from a locally-owned company and pay less. In short, I'd recommend another rental company altogether.

Horrible pickup experienceN/AI never even got my car because the wait was so long (over an hour in line) and when I finally got to the desk I was told I needed my physical passport to rent. I had my credit card, drivers license, photo of passport, and multiple other forms of ID. It did not say anywhere on the email I received that I would need to bring my passport. I ended up going with another company

Bait and Switch!!!!Nothing. They didn't have the car I rented available.They didn't have the car available and all they had to offer was a Prius that was twice as expensive. I reserved a Jeep not a small hybrid and needed the Jeep for travel in the mountains. Not a good experience. The Ace sign was also not visible so I walked by the agency several times before I found it.

Staff was brutal, they tried to con us, we had to wait 1.5 hours to get the shuttle to the rental car and we didn’t take the car because they were trying to con us!You need to have communication between the car rental place. They had no idea we were coming. I had filled out my time of pick up and flight number and nobody there new anything. They also tried telling us we had to buy mandatory insurance which was $1200 USD. I had another insurance policy in place but they wouldn’t let me leave without buying there’s. My wife, infant child and I than left there at 230am to go back to the airport and grab a taxi so we could go to our destination and sleep. We ended up renting another vehicle from elsewhere at a reasonable price. I will never book anything with kayak again

Car was wrong, price was wrongCars were cleanThe price was actually 3 times more the amount I reserved it for. The type of car wasn't nearly as closed as the one I reserved. The car broke down and couldn't use for 2 days, I go on vacation for 4 days and 2 of those days were nearly ruined for having a defective car. In spite of this, you'd thing Enterprise would try to make it better... Not at all! they even tried to charge me a penalty fee because when they picked up the broke down car it didn't have a full tank (mind you, it died on me! they probably expected me to push it to a gas a station to fill it up) And lastly, when I returned the car I had to argue for 30 minutes with the clerk because he kept offering insignificant discounts for my troubles, it was like barging back and forth with a street vendor selling me a bag of oranges.

It took a while to convince the overzealous agent to accept my credit card's CDW. He would just not acquiesce that Mexico City is indeed covered under worldwide CDW. Dropping off was quite hard to find where exactly to drive at the airport because there are no signs anywhere. The car could've had an electronic lock.

Worst mistake of my tripNever having to deal with europcar ever again againI was given a car with damaged wheels that I then had to pay for after I got a flat tire of 5 miles of driving. They claimed I damaged the rims and requested pictures to prove otherwise. Who has ever taken apart the car wheels when renting a car to photograph a rim. I would rather break my foot with a hammer and walk on broken glass for miles than ever do car rentals with Europcar ever again. This was simply a scam.

After checking in with my reservation at the airport office, (I’d reserved a minivan for my family of 6) ai arrived at the lot they said they don’t have a van because it broke and won’t have another (or anything else to fit 6 people) for two days. So I walked to Hertz and got a great experience.

Basically a scamWhen I arrived they didn’t have the reserved type of car. I could get a smaller car at the same price, discount was not possible nor was a higher category car. Apparently this is a typical scam done by this locally owned branch of Firefly, they attract customers with low prices online and expect them to take something smaller for the same price as they don’t have much choice after a long flight standing there with suitcases etc. Kayak should be ashamed you give these types of criminals a platform for their scams. I will not use Firefly or Kayak again. SCAM!

The car was in good condition, the agents were friendly the check out process was quick and easyThe check-in took 1 hour and 20 and we were the only people there. When I declined their insurance, which was more than the car rental itself, they physically charged my credit card the whole estimated price of the car ($300.000.00 Mexican pesos)

I didn't like itThe representative that was at the car rental booth was on his phone the whole time since we arrived. After 10 mins on the phone with a sarcastic smile he just said, we are very sorry but, we ran out of cars" how do you run out of cars when you have booked one in advance. Horrible service, will never book through them again. After reading the reviews below, I would have never gone through this rental place. I totally agree with the previous reviews.

Reserved child seats weren't availablePrice was supposed to be greatUnfortunately, I didn't get National's great price because the child seats I reserved (and confirmed by phone twice in the week before the rental) were not available. The guy at the desk didn't much seem to care, either. So I was left to waste an hour hauling luggage up and down the row of counters trying to find another company with the child seats, which ended up being three times the price that National had promised.

Disappointing and deceptive practicesNothingWhen I arrived at the airport they did not except my reservation. The pricing provided online was different at the airport. The insurance was triple the amount of the car rental. The taxes as well or triple the amount of the exact car rental. When I receive the car it was scratched all over and was very dirty. I was told that I did not have to wash the car when it was returned and I was charged 600 pesos for the cleaning I was told that I would also be responsible for paying for the repair of the scratches that the car already had.

Terrible agency.Nothing to like here! Awful.I had a confirmed reservation for the class of cars not even available at this location. I understand that the exact car model is not guaranteed, but if I reserve a car for 8 people weeks in advance of my arrival, then I expect to get a car model that can actually fit our entire party with all the luggage, as opposed to being offered a smaller car "at a better price". I literally had to scramble last minute, with my entire family waiting in the arrival hall of the airport and me walking from an agency to agency until I found one that has the car that can fit us all. NO, this is simply not acceptable, not for a reputable rental place and with a confirmed reservation!

Rip Off!!! Use another car rental companyThe vehicle was clean.I had to purchase insurance even though I explain that my credit card covered rental cars. I ended up paying an extra $400 dollars on a insurance I didn't need. Also, on the day of the return the shuttle drop me off on gate # 7 and I had to walk to gate # 9(pretty far walk) becuase the driver claim the vehicle was to tall and wouldn't clear the overpass.

We reserved our car with them 6 months before our trip, however when we arrived we were told that, despite us having a reservation, they didn’t have any cars left since it was a busy holiday weekend. I asked how that was possible and was told that since we didn’t prepay for the car, they were under no obligation to hold one for us and that this is a common practice in Mexico. Of course there was no communication about any of this when making the reservation or in the 6 months leading up to the trip. At that point we tried to ask the staff for help finding other options elsewhere since we were stuck. However they couldn’t have been less interested in helping us. We ended up having to take a taxi across town to an Enterprise and pay much more than we were planning to. Do not use Sixt ever again!

Nothing. Sixt sent us a SMS to tell us that the car would be ready at pick up time and asked to call them. I called and told me that the car was not available due to maintenance issue. First they blamed the broker Expedia and then they aknowledged the mistake was on their side. They did not even try to find a replacement car or solution.Everything

Reservation not honoredUpon arrival at the Mexico City airport Sixt rental company, I was told that there were no cars available. I explained to the representative that I had a reservation and she apologized stating that all cars had been checked out. Due to this error, I had to take. 2.5 hour bus ride to my destination followed by the same bus ride the next morning. I was extremely disappointed and inconvenienced. I will never use this company aagin.

Never againPick up was typical. The vehicle was brand new and perfect for what we needed. The staff was very good.There is a hidden refundable deposit fee of $1700 US dollars they charge at the rental office that was nowhere mentioned on the website.The Mexico city airport which is huge, is extremely difficult to navigate. No clear signage so it was impossible to relocate the drop off point. I was afraid I was going to miss my flight so I just left the vehicle curbside at the terminal, found the terminal rental office handed them the key and told them to deal with it.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE... Things to watch for: their exchange rate (will cost you more), their dumb insurance rates (a $400 rental will get another $475 in insurance for full coverage, then add another $130 for their dumb exchange rate). Bottom line is, stay away from this place, this has been top horrible car rental experience for me, and the other places I quoted work about the same. Maybe because it was during a busy vacation period, but just a few months back I had a great rental experience in Mexico (different company) and the price was very fair (just like in the US).

nothing. i got there and they didn't have a car for me. it completely ruined my vacation. i had hotels booked and itinerary planned and couldn't do any of it because the busses were all booked. I will never be booking through kayak again. what an awful experience.

They would not take the rate that I got onlineThe car was clean.The employees were mostly rude except for one girl but they did not offer solutions until I said I was going to call PROFECO, the mexican consumer protection services agency. They said that they had no connection to kayak whatsoever.

Do not use Payless in Mexico City!!!The rate we had confirmed by Kayak was in another universe to what they charged when we arrived. They also said they did not have a record of our booking or a car...although they later found one. Full insurance (although if you have an accident it is not full insurance) is required. My understanding is they were at the airport but they were half hour taxi ride away.

Terrible experience in Mexico CityCar was ok - clean, though the back suspensions were already damaged and not the model type we had requested through priceline (one level down)No respect for the reservation, and the quoted price. Staff looked like they hated working in that office, and was less than friendly. Unfortunately, we were in a hurry to leave, and renting the car took 1.5h, so battled a bit, but could not get through. Here are some details. 1. They could not find the reservation. 2. Once we had a payless customer rep on the phone, they said they would honor the price of the reservation but did not. 3. Bottomline - rental price / day was multiplied by 4; we had to pay for the full insurance that supposedly is compulsory in Mexico City (which is not true after verifying). I came out to 270$ for a 4 day rental instead of the $20 quoted by priceline. 4. We returned the car half a day earlier, and did not get any appreciation or discount. Also had to go through a 10 min inspection (which thankfully did not lead to any extra charges), though it would not have mattered since they made us pay the full insurance. This experience was terrible. Hard to say whether it was Payless or just this office. However, this was bad enough for me not to ever want to be a Payless customer. I would also recommend that Payless takes a close look at this Mexico Juarez office.

overcharged us, Terrible service, junky tiny carThe return went pretty well and shuttle left on time.They reserve it as one price and then they never have the car and then charged us more money for a far smaller car than what we reserved for. They wouldn't allow us to waive the insurance even though I had a printed letter from my insurance and I agreed to a large deposit. I'll never rent here again.

Would not honor rental cost - poor serviceWe arrived within the 2 hour pickup window clearly stated on the customer rental agreement. However, both the sales rep (and the manager) would not recognize our rate and were pushing us to pay $240 more for the 1 day rental. When we refused, they started bargaining - reducing it to $120 USD, then $85 as their "final offer." As a global brand, we expected Hertz to maintain it's quality - no matter its location. We were hoping to avoid such bad experiences like this by going with your company. We ended up just canceling the car for the day -- missing all the activities we already planned and booked for the day (losing that money and our valuable vacation time).

False advertisingThe car was ok.Hertz staff are quite unprofessional, disrespectful and uninformed. Besides charging me almost twice as much due to out-of-the-blue fees (including "hotel fees," and a supposed sales tax of 64%, which was further taxed at the end), when I requested to talk with the manager, the sales person said he was needed at some other location, which was evidently false as I could confirm when I said I could wait. The manager refused to talk with us, notwithstanding the fact that he was there the whole time. By the time we left having paid an excess of 40 dollars, the office was crowded with upset customers who Hertz staff were ignoring.

They don't care about you.It was a car.They gave me the car with almost no fuel, had to wait an hour and a half just to get the car when there was only 1 other family in front of the line, and when someone crashed into me on the road they didn't pick up the phone to call the insurance that covered the car. Never renting from here again.

NothingWhen we arrived at the address for dollar, there was a rental place called firefly (never heard of them). They said my car was ready, but that the insurance was 100% over the rental price, and that there was no other way. So, a 900 rental was 1800x obviously trying to take advantage of us because of the dates. They said my booking did appear on their system but the price was other than the one stated. When I started arguing with them, a manager was called, and he said he could lower it a couple of dollars. I did not fall for their scam, and left without a car; I preferred to call an uber. Never again will I rent with either company, and you should be aware, they are using your app to scan people.

The worst experience everI arrived at the airport and the dollar representative was super nice to begin with but when I declined their insurance, because I have my own insurance and car rental insurance with one of my credit cards, he said that I was obligated to purchase their insurance regardless. Their insurance was going to be twice more of what the rental car was going to be!!!!! The rental for my stay there was going to be roughly $660 and with their "obligatory" insurance was going to be about $2000!!!! The bad thing besides the outrageous amount of money was that after I had to obviously decline the rental and then had to wait a couple of hours to figure out how I was going to get to my destination which was a 2 hour drive....and this was my first time in Mexico so it was definitely an extreme inconvenience not to have been able to rent my car as agreed on Kayak before my trip. No apologies were even offered nor any other alternative.

nothing.I did not get the car. When I arrived I was told that the car I reserved was not available and all that was left was an SUV for $190 total. A far jump from the $30 I had agreed to. They did not help me cancel the reservation and were rude in the transaction. I ended up having to rent a car with Hertz for $120 total as that was the cheapest option I could find. Overall a very poor experience and I will not be using this company for car rentals again. Please return my money.

The drop off and pickup from the airport was decent compared to other rental companies I have used.The pickup situation to get the rental was terrible. We were there at least 2 hours just waiting for them to process paperwork and get the car. There were at least 2 other people there having similar issues and taking time out of their vacations to deal with the delays. I would say if you decide to rent from them just be prepared to wait for any service the offer while picking up or delivering the vehicle back to them.

My flight was delayed and they closed before I could get there. I went first thing the next morning to pick up the car and they said they didn't have one [even though there was a rental in my name for four days]. After trying that afternoon and the day after, they couldn't stick to the contract. Priceline was unhelpful and said they would get back to me within 7-10 days. Would NOT recommend

I never got my rental. They were asking for more than $400 to include an insurance should be offered as a suggestion. I canceled right there and still waiting for my initial money I paid to get reimbursed. That changed all my plans. This is so frustrating and annoying. The rental company Green Motion should not be using intermediaries that evidently are tricking potential renters. The price quoted should be all in (with exception if you want further insurance or to reduce the premium). This was highly frustrating and very unfair.

for me it was the worst thing I got to Mexico at 10 o'clock and there is no branch inside the airport the phone number and the one coming in the reservation was wrong I lost time and money looking for the branch until a lady told me where I was and by the way it is outside the airport and in a very ugly area, her schedules are not those who go on the reservation or on her website when I arrived at the establishment was closed I lost the money and the annoyance that caused me was too much, I felt cheated and scammed.... . they should not do those to foreign people rather should give them confidence that if they are airport facilities so that people feel safe and proper and answering telephones and at least, so I take advantage of the space to be solitary returning money for a service they do not use and it was not with correct information.

As hire cars are also pretty affordable, it is, in most cases, cheaper to drive around than to take public buses and trains.
  • Benefit from the many car hire agencies located at Mexico International Airport such as Avis, Europcar, or Hertz. The car hire desks can be found at Terminal 1, even though Terminal 2 also has some service desks available and a shuttle bus operates between the two terminals.
  • Driving in Mexico City can be overwhelming at first, but if taking their time and driving carefully and attentively, drivers will get used to it quickly. Adhering to the lane lines is not as clear as in many US cities and cars may cut into your lane suddenly and without a turn signal, so driving defensively and slowly is important.
  • Avoid Mexico City’s rush hour, as traffic here is among the worst in the country during peak times. Morning rush hour is between 6 and 9 PM and in the evening from 6 to 9 PM, so try driving to your destination outside these times. Driving at night is also not advisable in the city because it can be dangerous, especially in specific areas like Tepito or Doctores.
