Pros:The car was great and super clean. The gentleman who helped check us in was really friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, when we checked in he was the only person working and thus there was quite a long wait for us to check in but as soon as he got to us he was really efficient.Cons:We called to extend the car by a few hours and when we went to return the shop was closed with no drop box or instructions of what do to. I was able to get in touch with someone who was very helpful and told me to return in the morning. When I returned the following morning there was a massive line of cars to the point that we were all pulled up in the street, blocking traffic. A helpful passerby helped to direct traffic to clear the obstruction from the road, as no one from either rental agency was addressing it. Eventually and gentleman came out and told me to simply leave the car and they would deal with it. I did so, but there was no formal hand off or drop-off process.Reviewed 31 Aug. 2020

Insurance Hassle at Local National OfficePros:2018 Kia was a good car overall and promoted as much better than an older Volkswagon model.Cons:CarsRental.com sold us prepaid insurance online for about $100 and then the local National office would not honor the insurance and charged over $50 per day for full coverage in Mexico, which we were forced to buy out of fear of noncoverage. Final charge was three times the anticipated amount for 5 days. Plus, lack of English speaking staff caused excessive mutual frustration and time in the office as well as having to call a cell phone to get staff into the office upon our return to Chetumal. We will now need to figure out how to get a refund for double insurance coverage through our credit card company. Next trip we will not buy coverage online and scour our personal insurance and credit card companies for rental car coverage.Reviewed 23 Feb. 2018

Cons:Picking and dropping off car is a nightmare as almost nothing is computerized and very few people are working the counters. Also beware the rental will not be the price that you book on here, you can not decline insurance unless you have a credit card limit large enough to put a substantial hold on. A thirty dollar rental will turn into $300 to $350 dollars for a week. If you do decide to rent ensure that you note any little defect on the vehicle even if you don't think it is a defect. If not you will be charged for it when you bring the car back (it is 20 time worse than any inspection at a rental agency in the states)Reviewed 25 Jan. 2016

Pros:The car was niceCons:We had a reservation for 9AM to drive from Key West to Miami. The car was not ready for us to drive away until noon!! When we checked in, the attendant said the car would be ready in an hour, but really took three hours. By the time we left there were 150 people in line waiting to check in to pick up their rental. Airplanes continued to arrive throughout the period with people expecting to pick up a car and continue their journey. Airport security was having a fit trying to make people maintain social distance when the airport physically did not contain enough space to allow 150 people in line waiting and people arriving claiming their bags on the baggage carousel to maintain distinace. The entire problem was caused by National, Enterprise, Alamo car rental mismanagement and inability to think outside the box. In fact, I watched two employees show up to work then disappear when having to confront unhappy customers looking for an explanation for why they couldn’t get their car.Reviewed 3 Jan. 2021

Pros:Both times when picking up or dropping off was met with friendly and helpful staff.I feel that for the price the vehicle was adequate. Vehicle was clean and the amenities where nice and functioned well i.e. bluetooth/ media/ USB ports.Cons:My complaint is that after purchasing insurance on the website at the time of booking, I was then told upon pick up that the website insurance wasn't as valid and was through a third party and the liability would fall on me to recoup any loss if something was to happen. It always feels like a scam when you book a rental then told the insurance you already got wasn't as good as the one offered in store. I feel after driving it for some time the vehicle needed a tune up, would stagger to accelerate and ran sluggish.Reviewed 13 Dec. 2018

Terrible agency.Pros:Nothing to like here! Awful.Cons:I had a confirmed reservation for the class of cars not even available at this location. I understand that the exact car model is not guaranteed, but if I reserve a car for 8 people weeks in advance of my arrival, then I expect to get a car model that can actually fit our entire party with all the luggage, as opposed to being offered a smaller car "at a better price". I literally had to scramble last minute, with my entire family waiting in the arrival hall of the airport and me walking from an agency to agency until I found one that has the car that can fit us all. NO, this is simply not acceptable, not for a reputable rental place and with a confirmed reservation!Reviewed 28 Feb. 2017

Idiots did not know there product and gave me misinformation by phoneCons:I called the location in Victoria while booking online with Kayak making my reservation. I was going to book a full size to try to get a 4 wheel drive vehicle as I was driving to Whistler (snowy mountain village) but the rep told me I had a better chance of getting a Subaru outback if I booked an intermediate size car so that is what I did. He said "9 times out of 10 you will get an Outback". The day I arrived to pick up my car I found out there were no Subaru's for me and I could only have a mazda 3!! Was not even willing to upgrade me. Nice car, but when it dumped snow for 3 days straight in Whistler I basically could not drive my 2 wheel drive car for half of rental time due to ice and snow. I was very VERY angry and will never use them again. I will also write reviews to that effect wherever I can online. This is the second time they have screwed me over there. The first time they "forgot" to file an insurance claim for me so I was never reimbursed $250 for a windshield repair. The manager Rumy was a nice guy in person, so I gave them a second chance, but it was a total mistake. No apology, no compensation. Will never use National again and would encourage Kayak to let this location know that they are failed YOUR customer. If possible I would like compensation for the time I was not able to drive my car due to their mistake. I booked on Tue, Dec 12, 2017 at 6:10 PM. You should be able to find the exact employee I spoke to by their schedule on that date. only two or 3 people work at this location at any given time and I spoke to a man. Should narrow it down. They will not give that information to me.Reviewed 9 Jan. 2018

GMC yukonPros:The car was high quality, had inbuilt gps and awesome to drive. The car was pre booked and ready on my arrival. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Car was reasonably pricedCons:My only complaint is the cars change oil warning was at 12% on pickup and at 2% on drop off. The car had a change engine oil soon warning every time it was started. It’s lucky I was racking up kilometres everyday or this would have become a problemReviewed 11 Jan. 2018
