It was the worst experience I have ever had with a rental car company. The guy came 2 hours late to bring me the car. We were calling and waiting and he came 2 hours late without saying anything. Then the car was given very dirty inside, even with food that we had to throw away. After 45 minutes driving in the highway one of the tires popped and we had to go on the side of the highway to change the tire. Another surprise came up when we found out that the car does not have a spare tire. We tried to call the guy for help but he did not reply. So I had to call the national emergency number. They brought us a tow truck and drove us to the nearest car shop to fix the tire. They put 2 new tires and told me that the reason the tire popped was because the direction system of the car was in bad conditions so the tires were wearing out badly. Everything was written down in the receipt I got from the mechanic. I paid almost 500 euros for that. Then on my way back to Paris to return the car, I texted the guy to meet at 13:30 to return the car where the guy replied “ok I will be there”. I had my flight at 16:30 so we had to meed to fix this issue then I could go to the airport for my flight. As the pick up date, he arrived almost 2 hours late. There was then a nice guy there that helped me translate everything so I could communicate with this guy who didn’t speak any english. He really tried for us to leave without paying for any of the expenses I paid, trying to scam me in many ways. I then threaten calling the police if I didn’t get a refund from all those expenses as the fix was a big mistake from the company for having the car in bad conditions. My life could be at risk on the road. Then after 2 hours arguing he finally sent me the money but costing me to miss my flight. Many times I really thought this was not a real company, just a random person with his car (by the way, the car plate was not even french) and trying to scam people in many ways. very bad experience with them.they did not have the SUV car that i rezerved .the car that i paid for was not avaible for me. i was told to wait one more hour to have an other one.they charged me fees for paying and the price was not what i paid on rezrvation .an other charge was the insurance $30 per day on top of what i had and provided .will never go back to it .i hope nobody rents from them.they should go out the business.Reviewed 10 Aug 2026

Terrible. Af booking they gave me a choice to pay in advance and save 5% or pay at pickup. Not being familiar with the company, I decided to pay upon pickup. Thankfully, as you will read later. I realized that I put in the incorrect arrival time, and emailed them to update them. It is difficult to email them, but I finally got confirmation that my correct arrival time was indicated. After landing, I went to the rental car area. There were about a dozen other companies, both international (Hertz, Avis) and local. Rent-a-Wreck was nowhere to be seen. So I tried calling the number on my reservation - nothing. Just rang and rang. I emailed them and waited about an hour, but nothing came back. I booked a different company. Rent-a-Wreck as far as I can tell are brokers for other rental car companies. I will never use them again. Ultimately, the rental I got was cheaper than theirs, so the value is not there either.Reviewed 26 July 2026

I felt like I got scammed. I got there and was quoted a price and then they added on so many additional charges, fees and taxes. I will never rent from them again and will warn others about the hidden charges. It was a stressful experience! I’m am very disappointed. And they kept speaking in I believe Spanish in front on me and my sister, which in itself was rude and suspicious.Reviewed 14 July 2026

My experience is very bad so I was for pickup the car when arrived he sad me $2000 dollars deposit and $475 more after pay complete the car affirm bank this is scanm the company rent car I enroll my refund I never received I never take car because is so expensive for rent a car I was buy insurance car she sad me I can put other insurance the insurance I was not cover I say what the company not rent a car please have more 10 days I enroll for refund the monny I was pay please in my account bank I dont lose my monny.Reviewed 15 June 2026

Total failure. They refused to rent to me because I was an in-State resident. This was not made clear at the time the reservation was made. On top of that, they refused to refund the pre-paid deposit. I am totally disappointed with them and will never do business with Rent-A-Wreck in the future.Reviewed 6 June 2026
