an absolutely horrible experience. i booked the car online, the price significantly changed when a came to pick up the car, it was night time, so I didn’t have any other options, but renting the car on the new conditions. and that isn’t the worst part, because this is something that I agreed for and signed, at least. the worst part followed after the drop off - I passed the car to the staff member, and was talked by him that I’ll get back the deposit in full in a couple of days. instead of $250 deposit return I only received $155. I called the company, they emailed me a new receipt, that doesn’t have my signatures, with a bunch of new charges and fees that I never confirmed. in the middle of filing the claim the agent hang up on me, so I had to call again to finalize the claim. the car was in a very poor condition, with the front fender all bended, making a scary scratching noise on the turns.Reviewed 12 June 2025

I'm sure that the cars were fine. What wasn't fine is what looked like a misrepresentation as to where they were located (looked like it was in or adjacent to the terminal and it wasn't) it was a 10 minute bus ride away and the real fun started when you finally got to the counter; they didn't take Amex which was not in the on-line rental agreement and as I didn't have my VISA I wasn't about to let them charge a $2500 deposit to my Debit Card. Then there was a demand for proof of insurance not the normal show your insurance card they wanted to see the declarations page out of your policy. Who carries that around? The final straw was the rental agents themselves or at least the one that waited on me. Face tattoos galore and surly to say the least. Their cars were incredibly cheap but it seemed to be a huge rip off and in disgust I finally got back in the bus back to the terminal and rented a car at Thrifty for 20 times what Rent-A-Wreck was charging. The last thing was that the Rent A Wreck counter had about five names on it and the same 3-4 clerks working it. There were families crying in the parking lot because of the hassle going on inside. It was amazing. Do yourself a favor at TPA if it doesn't say located in terminal don't waste your time stick with the majors in the terminal.Reviewed 29 May 2025

I was charged with extra administration fees that I wasn’t told about until I arrived there. I was told that it is because I have my own insurance and they charged me for that. I have rented cars many times before and never had I ever seen that before.Reviewed 22 May 2025

They never gave me a car. They didn’t accept my insurance and tried to charge me $500 for their insurance so I walked out of that shithole.Reviewed 8 May 2025

The customer service was terrible and they sub charge and add a lot of fees at the time of pick up the online reservations are not accurate, they doubled the price trying add services you don’t need like “toll activation fee per day” . I ordered an suv and got a sedan and then had to wait past my reservation time to get the car swapped to an SUV.Reviewed 22 Apr 2025

They’re unprofessional in their approach. I called to confirm they would have a shuttle and car for me as my plan landed late and just 15 mins before they closed. We arrived to the facility 4 mins after closing and they were gone. The next day they gave my reservation away.Reviewed 21 Apr 2025

The process of actually getting the vehicle could be quicker. Quit trying to upsell. Be upfront about the fact that you needed a 2020 vehicle or newer to use your personal insurance. And the toll rate was crazy $$$. The car smelled like cigarettes. And the horn didn't work which is a necessity in Puerto Rico. And it took a long time to get the refund. All in all, you get what you paid for I guess. When we booked, on kayak it said that you could pick up the vehicle at the airport. Not true. You have to take a shuttle.Reviewed 31 Mar 2025
