    You get what you pay for
    Pros: Sixt was substantially cheaper than any other rental agencies at SFO for the time frame I was looking for. Crowded on the day we arrived, but check-in was quick and easy, despite the horror stories I read in some reviews. Returning the car was also pretty painless. Shuttle bus pickup from the airport was quick to arrive. I had a prepaid rental, no one tried to upsell me. Every employee we dealt with was friendly.
    Cons: The main drawback is this company is not actually at the SFO airport. After a long day of traveling with kids, getting off site to the rental agency adds another layer of complication I could have done without. Yes there is a free shuttle, and yes it was relatively prompt but even so its a hassle. We booked a full size for about 10 days. Our car was a base 2017 Toyota Camery with 20k miles on it, scratches on all 4 sides and stained upholstery. Mechanically it functioned just fine, and yes it had been washed and vacuumed, but it didn't feel "clean." I had to go get an employee to walk around the car with me and record all the damage because I didn't want to be on the hook for anything.

    “Guaranteed” car seats - NOT guaranteed
    Pros: The employees were kind, quick, quiet and appropriately sorry.
    Cons: Sixt had guaranteed car seats, which was one reason we booked with them for the holiday week. However, upon arriving at 10:30pm they did not have any car seats available. Along with a military family who were trying to figure out what to do, we were told they didn’t have any and had no way to go buy them. I had to leave my husband with our 3 year old twins in the Sixt lobby, drive to Target, and purchase 3 car seats (2 for our family and 1 for the other family). It was midnight before we finished installing the seats and we’re ready for our hour drive to our family’s home. As we were leaving, another family arrived who needed a car seat. I told her about the situation and she commented that her son had arrived the night before with 2 year old twins and had the exact same experience with Sixt. Unbelievable! She couldn’t believe they had not gone out to purchase additional car seats during the day. On the plus side, the car was nice, and the manager reimbursed me for the rental fee and cost of the car seats and gave me a slight (15%) discount.

    Cons: The car smelled weird it wasn’t four wheel drive like I needed an they try to blame me for a scratch on the door
