Pros:Staff were friendly, gave me money back at the end for the inconvenience when picking up.Cons:Wait time to pick upReviewed 20 Nov. 2015

Customer Service was lacking but end result was goPros:Did what they could to remedy the situation. Car was clean and in good condition. Return was easy.Cons:After reserving my rental car, I called Alamo to ensure my rental would be 4wd since I would be going to the snow, which they confirmed. Roughly two weeks later when it was time to pick the car up, the agent who helped me, Driss, said this was impossible, that they never confirm this and proceeded to accuse me of lying. This was aggravating and I refused to relent. Driss continued to say that it would be an additional premium to "upgrade" to a 4wd suv. I then asked to speak to a manager after which the situation was resolved and I got the 4wd suv with my original price. Was very disappointed in the customer service with Driss it definitely left a sour taste and I likely will not use this Alamo location anymore.Reviewed 23 Jan. 2017

Terrible Terrible Service in downtown San FranciscoPros:Good clean care. Decent rates.Cons:Location we picked up at was beyond terrible. Location at 310 o farrel st. The staff was completely disrespectful. They did absolutely nothing to speed up the processes dispite a hundred people waiting for a car. I've never had a experience this terrible. It was almost like a bad dream. Alamo should be ashamed to even have a location like this under their brand. I will never travel Alamo again. I'll let everyone I know how terrible Alamo handled this situation so they will never have to experience a situation like that.Reviewed 11 Sep. 2017

Probably worth the waitPros:Free upgrade to brand new (under 2K miles) midsize SUV. Self service kiosk (once one FINALLY became available) was easy and intuitive.Cons:Ridiculously LONG lines!!! (Both to use self service kiosk and to pick up vehicle). It took well over an hour from arrival at the rental center to depart with my car. Mediocre gas mileage, (especially considering this was a new vehicle) no USB port nor bluetooth. Staffing and available rental stock were embarrassingly low. Staff (the few that were on hand) were pleasant, friendly and did there best to provide for a crush of Spring Break holliday travelers (that frankly SHOULD have been anticipated). Too bad for the poor sods behind me, as I was given the last nonspecialty vehicle on the Alamo lot.Reviewed 5 Apr. 2016

Cons:Car had sand in back (suburban) and there was only a key. The salesperson at SF Alamo said they didn't have the "alarm remote entry key". So we had to unlock the car manually and each time the alarm would go off, until you started the car. For the cost - you'd think it would be clean and you wouldn't be asked to deal with "triggering the alarm". But we needed the car so we dealt with it. Just know your cars are your advertisement - and you advertised a dirty car with no way to shut off the alarm other than to start it. Joel HelmReviewed 16 Feb. 2016

Good value for money poor customer servicePros:The Kia Sedona was spacious and performed as expected. The price point was also good.Cons:The person at the front desk was very curt when I asked some questions about the insurance. She then told me I picked the wrong insurance and should have chosen the one from Alamo. She also appeared that I was not moving fast enough for her and would hold out her hand for my license and credit card and then snatched them from me. When I headed outside to pick up my vehicle no one was present so we waited for about 5-8 minutes. Then the person arrived arbitrarily pointed to where the van was and wouldn't give anymore details about it.Reviewed 27 Aug. 2016

50 minute wait in line, 20 minute wait in the garage.Pros:The drop off was simple, the car was fine (although the was a big sticky area between the driver and passengers seat.Cons:The wait to pick up my car was unacceptable. I waited in line for forty minutes to get to a kiosk that stopped working for no reason halfway through my self check-in and then waited an additional ten minutes to be assisted by an employee. Then once I was checked in, picked up a car, and headed to the last step (them scanning which car I had as I exited the garage), I waited in line for another twenty minutes. All in all, it took an hour and twenty minutes from start to finish. Completely unacceptable and I intend to call for a refund. Will not be using Alamo again.Reviewed 25 Jul. 2017

Pros:Ordered the extra collision insurance which was charged to the credit card immediately. When got to San Francisco the rental agency would not let us have the car because they didn't like the card (it was a debit/credit card from VISA. Had 4 year old son along trying to make the 10 hr. drive to Oregon to see the solar eclipse but they would not give the car. So now have psid for the extra insurance (who had no problem accepting the credit card but no car! A disaster. Will never rent from them again .Reviewed 24 Aug. 2017

Pros:The pick up at San Francisco and the drop off at San Diego was easier than I thought it would be, as I hadn't been in either of those airports beforeCons:My flight was very late into San Francisco and I was tired. I shouldn't have let the Alamo agent talk me into the option to buy a tank of gas which was somewhat lower, but not a huge difference compared to what I could have gotten outside the airport. Then I was to return it empty, which was a definite win on your part, and not mine. Won't choose that option again.Reviewed 14 Feb. 2018

Pros:No extra for additional driver, different cars to choose from, easy drop-off.Cons:Long line at airport. Confusing car pickup. The person at the garage or an email could be more specific and inform us about the procedure. Would make it easier.Reviewed 15 Sep. 2017
