We waited for over 2 hours to pick up a car that we verified the day before and they didn't have it, so they gave us a car that was also given to another customer and it was just a total dumpster fire... I will never rent from budget again to save the few dollars, because we didn't save any money as we were charged an additional day or $200 when we picked it up. Your survey missed an important option: "n/a - did not pick up" When I arrived at the counter, there was a 2+ hour line at Budget. I was unable to cancel online with the confirmation number - the process Kayak deployed would require me to login with Hotwire and/or Budget. I was prompted to install an app at one point. From my POV, the complete and total failure chain included Kayak, Hotwire, and Budget. I eventually cancelled via phone. To be 100% clear, there is a 0% chance I use Kayak for a booking like this again. I will never take a chance of arriving at a destination where I must wait in an extended line. Over an hour long line, had to go to a different company and rent another car - in order to make my meeting. Staff was slow and inattentive. Would like at refund, as I wasn’t able to use my car. The whole purpose of the trip, was to attend a meeting, and I could not accomplish that - given how slow and careless they were.Reviewed 23 May 2022

The car had a warning asking to be serviced. Called the agent , who asked me to go to the nearest budget location. Upon reaching the location, the terrible lady at belmont said she didnt have cars and asked me to go back to SFO airport. Went to the airport and had to wait for 43 minutes in line and found out that the person had closed my monthly contract and she was nice enough to give me the same rate but had to go through a lot of hassle. This is one of those things where every person I interacted with were nice , professional and doing their job , yet it left me wasting a lot of time and got expensive for no reason.Reviewed 13 May 2022

We did not receive the car we reserved, but we did get a quality substitute. We had to wait way longer in line than expected to pick up our rental. We did not have copies of our Budget Fast Track, so we waited for 45 minutes before we got our car. There were way too few attendants at the checkout stations for the number of customers in line. The car was clean, though there was a slight lingering odor of smoke, even after the thorough cleaning (I was informed, when we dropped off the car, that Budget uses very strong chemicals to thoroughly clean their vehicles, strong enough that the cleaning crew needs to wear highly protective gear to avoid injury). Even though renters are NOT ALLOWED to smoke inside these vehicles, they do anyway. Our return, however, was simple and went very quickly, without any issues.Reviewed 11 May 2022
