Cons:
The Herz office where we booked our car through Kayak did not have any cars available. They said that a "glitch" in the system was allowing cars to be booked through Kayak and other consolidators, even though there were no cars available, even at the time of booking. This was a terrible situation, which should never have occurred. Kayak needs to work with Herz to correct the problem. I'm not inclined to use Kayak ever again. We were unable to get a car at the last minute, and had to cancel our plans.2.0 Poor

The car we received had been obviously hit and not reported or fixed. We picked it up and went back to hotel to grab the family. We opened the back latch of the van amd the whole end of fin with back stop light came off. We called back to hertz, nothing they could do. They noted it in our contract which was good- so far we know of, but it was a safety issue. They said there was no other vehicle that would fit seven in their inventory. We asked if there’s a different location they sent us there and they told us they could do nothing for us. There is absolutely no easy way to rent vehicles during this time which must be related to Covid. We felt we were given the runaround and absolutely no support whatsoever. We kept the vehicle drove to our next destination which was an hour away. Used it very limited for fear something else might break. Dropped it back off where picked it up at the end of our trip. It was a joke and nightmare. When we returned it they said, that vehicle can’t be rented out it’s a safety issue! We said we know but when we had it you did nothing for us! No credit given. I am reporting this to the Hertz corporate, not sure it will help. A lot of money for a piece of junk and extremely poor port service!2.0 Poor

Due to a wait at the airport for our luggage, we arrived less than an hour after our agreed upon pickup time. Hertz was closed. I planned on returning the next day to pick up my car. They had given away my reservation. I had no vehicle the entire week and was forced to Uber. Ubering ended up being a much better option and I will no longer use Kayak nor Hertz in the future.Budget

The car was clean and we had no issues-but it was high demand caused the cost to be $700 for the week. This Enterprise location is 9 miles from the airport. They do not offer any shuttle, nor do they have reciprocity to drop the car off at the airport. So it was a hassle trying to find an early morning pick up from Enterprise to the airport, and the cab cost $40. Uber/Lyft are not reliable at that time of the day. I called Enterprise many times throughout the week and was on hold forever, or got someone with poor customer service skills. Suggestion is to offer something - either a shuttle, a partnership with a can company for a discounted cab rate, or the ability to drop off at the airport Enterprise location to customers with early morning flights.8.0 Very Good

The original office was closed and Enterprise did not have my phone# to let me know. Fortunately the nearest Enterprise location turned out to be where they were expecting us. Unfortunately, after driving the car for a couple of days we discovered that the dash was full of ants. We took it to Sarasota airport to trade in, and they were overwhelmed with Christmas travelers, so we ended up with a very comfortable pickup truck..4.0 Mediocre

Ok...where should I start? For starters they didn't have the car I reserved. However, I did start at the wrong Payless location so I will take partial blame. I still feel like they could of provided a better car. The car I received was disgustingly dirty, one headlight was out, and the smell of cigar smoke was awful. I called many times to complain and try to get the headlight fixed, but the customer service was pathetic at best. Never fully understanding my issue. I ended up popping the hood and fixing the headlight myself. I will NEVER.....NEVER EVER NEVER EVER rent through Payless again.Thrifty
