Cons:When I went to pick up the car, they tried to charge me a hundred dollars more than my reservation. Then they supposedly fixed that, but tried to charge me fifty dollars more. Eventually I was able to get the correct rate, but it was not a good experience and wasted a lot of time. The car they gave me had a slow leak in one of the tires. I called customer service and was told to change the tire myself and bring the car back to the airport for further assistance. I chose to watch the leak and refill the tire as needed. It was a big hassle, cost me money each time I had to add air, and I won't be renting from them againReviewed 27 Feb. 2018

Pros:Drop off was great! Excellent customer service and quick checkin.Cons:Poor customer service from agent when picking up car. Tried to give me a car that looked like it was in an accident. Damaged front tire rim and dents on fender above rim. She said it was ok, it happened in the car wash. When I said I wouldn't drive it, she walked to the office, came out and never said a word to me. She started checking in anothe customer. When I questioned her, she made some remark and kept on checking in other customer. The desk agent who completed my paper work arrived and said car was ok. I said no so then he tried putting me in a vehicle with Takata air bag. These vehicles should not be on the road. I said no and he upgraded me to a Ford Mustang. Good valuePros:Solid, reliable car Easy return All problems made right with contract errors Very friendly and amenable staffCons:The car needed a new windshield. The glass had not been properly made. It had a blurry line in it right in my line of site. It made driving difficult without getting dizzy. The CSR was not familiar with the toll roads around Austin and was not able to make knowledgeable recommendations for whether I should purchase the toll pass ahead of time. I went ahead and purchased it and never used it, and he reimbursed me upon my return. The CSR asked me if I wanted to prepay for gas upon return. I said yes. When I returned, he told me there would be a $9 per gallon fill up charge because I had not selected prepay. I reminded him he was the one who issued me the car and whom I had told I most certainly did want prepaid fuel. He made the adjustment. Austin needs a more efficient shuttle program between the South Terminal and Main Terminal. The airport staff does not provide very clear instructions on how the shuttle works. Cons:Waited 30 min at the counter before I could speak with a representative. Then was given a car that smelled of cigarette smoke. When I noticed problem and tried to report it I was told I needed to wait to return the car. I spoke with the person when returning the car regarding the problem. Asked him to make note of cigarette smoke, and he said he didn't have time to confirm if there was smell of smoke in car because he had other customers waiting. I was told I could only complain to the manager, who was not on location when I returned vehicle.Reviewed 4 Sep. 2018

Advantage Employee Left 5 customers at least withoPros:Nothing. Some of us had called to confirm our reservation for car. Confirmed they were open till midnight. I came in at 11:45 met a man that was there since 11:20. We all waited till past midnight. Other counters told us the employee left earlier. Said nothing just abandoned post. I called advantage customer service she could not get anyone that worked at Austin Airport to respond or find out what had happened. While we waited at least 4 others came up and waited and left. 2 had told us they had reservations and called this location to confirm. Do NOT TRUST Austin airport location!Cons:Worst service- do not even depend on them to be there at the counter waiting during hours posted. No real help or explanation from the customer service people at toll free number. I gave up as I was allowing another customer to use my cell phone to talk to customer service person about getting his money back. Poor guy was there almost an hour waiting and hoping for help since his was marked as no refundable. I ended up just allowing my family to come get me. At almost 1 am. Exactly what I was trying to avoid. Do NOT TRUST Austin airport location.Reviewed 16 Dec. 2015

Poor to mediorePros:Nothing was great. I didn't even rent a car through them, I went to another car rental companyCons:Kayak.com was great with setting up the car rental, however, once I got there to pick up the car, hidden fees were trying to be attached, forced to use the companies full coverage insurance, and then a 350 deposit. Not to mention, they wouldn't honor the unlimited miles as I set up when ordering the car. In fact, the representative told me since I was renting a car and I lived within 65 miles, this was the reason all the restrictions had to be applied.. Terrible policy. Bait and switchPros:Upon arrival for a business trip I was told there were no cars available except for a large van. A large van. I had reserved an intermediate car, a Toyota Corolla. I was directed to the rental company set up in the next booth next door and forced to rent a smaller vehicle than I had reserved at a slightly higher cost. Why even make a reservation? Pros:Very nice drop off staff. Check-in guy wanted me take economy car since it was intermediate sold out; he did not offer me a discount for smaller car. I asked for intermediate or larger; he gave me a larger car. He was very polite though.Cons:See above.Reviewed 11 Feb. 2020
