It was awful because I had broke my ID. The front desk would not let me use my Military ID, which was fine but when I went to ask if I could change the name to my wife’s name because we had the same last name and she is here. They told me that there was nothing that they could do that. I would have to rebook the ticket either with directly with Avis, but there was nothing that they could do. And I missed out on spending time with my family for a whole 2 days and had to cut my vacation short. I didn’t get the rental due to this mishaps .Reviewed 28 July 2025

Nothing to like. Place had 1 staff trying to check-in and issue cars, 15 cars deepnin the process, and they had no cars to rent out. I received a car they had to change before I even left because it had been in an accident that the clerk misses seeing. The car is did take was only 3/8 full. I like it. It says there is shuttle service but per review, it's taking long waiting time. So, I took Left and the office is close to the port. Staff is very friendly and no line, All paper work is ready as I registered online. The car is old but comfortable for long distance drive. Kayak and Expedia: talk with Avis and find a way to not take reservations when there are no cars available. I learned this when I arrived at the counter, which caused a great deal of inconvenience. I wasted a lot of time, and time is the only thing I can't recover. If you don't solve this, you'll lose me as a customer, and probably many other people.Reviewed 15 July 2024

Horrible experience sorry I went to kayak and Avis Ft. Lauderdale Avis sucks mistakenly rented from location 1/2 mile from airport Shuttle took us to rental center wrong location Avis agent wanted double the original price I asked how to get to correct location he said Uber or taxi and yes cars there were available Got a taxi went right there haha they were closed Avis rep didn’t tell us about they we’re closed it was 6pm Again , sorry I used kayak / Avis Signed UNHAPPY CUSTOMERReviewed 31 Mar 2024

My experience with Avis Rental Cars at Fort Lauderdale Airport was disappointing. Despite making a reservation, I waited nearly an hour in line for check-in, which seemed excessive given the low number of customers. The staff aggressively pushed extra insurance coverage and were unpleasant when I declined. To make matters worse, the car I was initially given was parked in an aisle where returned vehicles were lined up, making it impossible to pull out. Despite requesting assistance from the staff and searching for the manager, it took an additional 30 minutes to locate and change my reservation to another car. Throughout all of this, the staff showed little concern and were unapologetic. It's frustrating that even with a reservation, it took nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes to leave the airport with my rental. This experience falls far short of expectations, and I won't be choosing Avis for future rentals.Reviewed 26 Mar 2024
