There were hidden cost. The staff was not friendly and told me the insurance we paid with kayak was not the one that they required so I had to pay an extra insurance to be able to pick up the car. I like that Hertz is pushing forward with AI and the contactless rental. I was supposed to be on the Gold Board, so I could just look at the board and go find my car. I checked in correctly and everything was ready. But the flight took off 4 hours late, landing at 3:30am -- after the FLL rental center was closed. My (and other renters') reservations disappeared. Thankfully, Hertz brought on a human a little after 4am, and they helped the line of waiting customers. Hertz was able to match most people up with the car type they had reserved. What disappointed me EXTREMELY is that Hertz KNEW some of its customers were coming on that flight that now landed in the middle of the night... yet Hertz didn't send A SINGLE TEXT after the one saying they'd text us 1 hour prior to landing. It's as if the Hertz system fell apart. None of us (who were already exhausted and confused by the car-rental center being closed) received a text confirming that a car would be ready, nor that they knew our flight was coming,... Great experience all around but the location and drop off in Miami is a pain. I went around in circles for 30 mins until I finally found the place. Also you have to go up to level 5 and then come back down to level and 1 to check out. Not ideal . Car was clean and employees great .Reviewed 6 Dec 2025

Unless something changes, my credit card reflects a charge of over $200 for a one day rental. For a Nissan Kicks. Because I checked in online, and opted to pick up without standing in line, there was no notification of a hold or additional charge being made. I'm going to see what happens in a few days, and if this is not corrected I will obviously have to address this. It's really frustrating and annoying - makes one want to rather drive, not fly, and then not have to be subjected to this.Reviewed 13 July 2025

Checking in and skipping the counter was incredibly helpful. We loved picking the car, although we really only had one vehicle option unless we wanted to pay more. Returning the vehicle is where Hertz stole the show. Mr. Williams at the Fort Lauderdale airport was amazing! He took the time to personally drop us off at our terminal and assist us with our bags so we didn’t have the bother with a shuttle. It was so helpful, having three small kiddos and all the stuff we have to haul. We will definitely use Hertz again in Fort Lauderdale because of Mr. Williams.Reviewed 27 Sept 2024

Their website is terrible. It was hard to get through to a person on the phone. Our flight was canceled due to the software problem, and we were unable to get a refund for our car rental from Expedia or Hertz.Reviewed 25 July 2024

The worst experience imaginable. Rented a Tesla and even though I arrived early - was told my Tesla rental was given up and I would be “upgraded” to another vehicle. This vehicle was a Corolla.
