Cons:When I arrived at the Hertz location at FLL I was unapologetically told there would be at least an hour wait for a car even though I had a reservation. There were also about 40 other people who were waiting in the hot garage. There were cars waiting to be rented sitting right in from of us and I was told those cars were for people who had reservations......I had a reservation!Reviewed 18 Feb. 2021

Pros:The car was great.Cons:The pick-up at Ft. Lauderdale is difficult for people that did not fly into the airport. There is nowhere for a person to drive up and drop you off. Once you find your way into the lot, it is not clear where to go and Hertz no longer has many employees in the lot area for assistance. It's a long walk back into the terminal and a Hertz counter, which is ultimately where you need to go. The car had a number of scratches before I picked it up. Hertz made it my responsibility to document these scratches before taking the car off the lot. You should not do that to people. You know that the scratches exist. You should pre-print them on the rental agreement before handing it to me to sign. It's not fair to try and stick me with scratches that I have nothing to do with. The return in Stuart was also a bit of a problem. There were nine people ahead of me when I got there and only one person working to help people. That one person was taking a great deal of time with each of the people in front of me. I eventually left the keys and walked away hoping that the the staff could check my car in without me and e-mail the receipt, which they eventually did. It all worked out, but it could have been better.Reviewed 5 Jan. 2020

Pros:I made a reservation and after a flight from SFO and needing a car to drive 2 hrs. to Naples, I got to your counter and you had no cars available so I had to go counter to counter at the FLL airport to find another car rental available. I rented a car from Alamo and was treated extremely nicely with a Nissan Altima for less than Hertz was charging me. It was so unbelievable to me that you make a reservation which was confirmed and you arrive at the counter and you are told there are no cars available of any type. Bad business.Cons:You do not honor a confirmed reservation and turn your customer away and do not try to accommodate them at all. Not good business.Reviewed 8 Mar. 2017

Pros:Nothing about Hertz. Staff have bad attitudes and are not helpful at all. Even when I call customer service to get get help, the front-line reps cannot help, and if you ask for a manager, you will either be put on hold forever, told no manager is available, or offered a call-back that never actually happens. I just had an awful experience with a rental including a promised discount (resulting from a prior bad experience) not being honored, an incorrect fueling charge, and generally rude service. I looked my car rental records, and realized I have rented from several companies including Avis, Enterprise, Fox, Sixt, Europcar, Greencar, and I have only really had bad experiences with Hertz brands (Thrifty, Dollar, and Hertz). Now that I have seen a pattern, I know better to use one of the other companies.Cons:Honor promised discounts, don't incorrectly charge refueling fees, make sure managers and people with actual authority to fix problems (instead of making excuses) work at the call centers, and actually provide the products advertised (one Dollar provided me a Kia Soul when I had rented a mid-sized car. The lady at the counter told me this was an 'upgrade.' She said it with a straight face, too.)Reviewed 22 Jan. 2020

TerriblePros:Being able to rent the car online in advanceCons:When I arrived at the airport rental location I did not like Hertz's video check-in service. More importantly, the representative did not tell me they had no cars.He only tried to "upsell" me on a nicer car (that wasn't actually available). When I got to the lot to pick up the car, there was a long line of people waiting. No one said we had to put our name in to the guy holding a clip board, but I finally figured that out. When I did so he said there would be a wait for a car. I asked how long and he avoided answering directly. Finally, when pressed, he said 1-2 hours. I found another company who had a car immediately and then returned to Hertz where they canceled my reservation. I need to confirm that I got my money back.Reviewed 2 Oct. 2017

Pros:There were 12 counters plus two for Premier members. At the general counter there were only two persons. I was behind 14 persons and luggage, possibly seven rentals, I suppose. Finally, I was directed to the Kiosk. Kevin appeared on screen. Very unfriendly. Tried his best to charge me extra for additional twenty seven a day comp insurance, although I had taken car rental insurance with you (please check my reservation). He went on about empty gas return, its advantages and the $10 a gallon charges. Talked about upgrades within the class I rented, he said he'll give a jeeep accent instead of the RAV4. It took over thirty minutes. He charged my Chase Sapphire but then called the card company. Altogether an additional twenty five minutes. When I signed the docs I saw an additional $174 charge for upgrade. I cancelled it. Kevin was unhappy. I just wanted to go with my RAV4. I go to pick up car, theres a banged up Accent. Seats could not be adjusted. Dirty and smelly car. Lots of dents outside (have a copy of dent marking sheet) I am a unhappy camper. Hertz says they are number one, but not in my books. I've never seen an unadjustable seat in any SUV I've ever driven. Please look into it and possibly make changes inReviewed 26 Sep. 2016

Great experiencePros:I usually rent from an off the airport company for economic reasons. When we got to the airport, we walked 5 minutes to the Hertz counter and they arranged for my rental to be picked up there (an extra $54.00 in airport taxes). We Figured taking an Uber back and forth was going to be similar. The rental process took some time because of the transfer. Picking up the car was a breeze (you select one from a pool). The vehicle was well maintained (smooth ride, everything working properly) even though it had over 30k miles. The agents (both at pickup and return)were very curteous and helpful.Cons:The oil change was due during my rental time (I rented for 2 weeks).Reviewed 23 Jul. 2018

Cons:Car smelled like cat pee. Would let me change the main drivers name so had to add a driver and cost me a lot extra to add the driver who would be the main driver.Reviewed 23 Jan. 2021

Pros:Best price received.Cons:They insisted on calling our insurance company to confirm our coverage. I’ve rented hundreds of cars and no one has ever done that, even in foreign countries. The car was filthy inside and out withbeers cans and tampons under the front seat. And funny they advertise Covid disinfected but obviously not.Reviewed 19 Feb. 2021
