The rental office was not at the airport. Had to arrange our own transportation to get the car. Even though this was a pre- paid rental, the Hertz office still came up with additional charges. This seems wrong. We were quoted a rate and paid for it. Adding extra fees on arrival is a low life scam.

Was in Tampa for 5 hours for a funeral. Chose to rent at TPA International Airport from a major rental agency to save every minute I could. Your search engine put me in an off-site location miles from the airport. I never noticed your bait and switch until I went to pick up the car at the counter. Pissed away the original reservation and had to overpay for the walk up rate at Hertz. There is no reason why this should happen when the search specifically targets a location. If I was buying an airline ticket to Tampa I shouldn't expect to land in Orlando.... or is that covered somewhere in your fine print too?

My flight got moved back so I had a friend with AAA who has free add driver to policy. the sales people at pick up were rude and not helpful. the vehicle and everything else was great. Just one bad sales person at hertz tampa..

Cons:

It took forever for me to get the car. There were two people in the office and about eight people in the lobby. The gentleman moved with absolutely no urgency. After about an hour of waiting for the car, we finally got it. The car had break suspension issues, So it shook really badly anytime you hit the brakes...Definitely not good when you’re on the freeway doing 70. Something was also wrong with the electrical system so the radio display would continually go off and then reboot. This deathtrap cost me $675 for four days...did I mention it was a Corolla? I will never again...

Price was awesome, the third party insurance was about half what I paid last time I rented a car. The staff was friendly and very efficient . The car I chose online was not available so I got a free upgrade Thank you budget

Pros:

Pick up location was easy to get to, avoided having to go to airport.

Cons:

During pick up I specifically asked for the car to be free of smoke smell. Staff assured that they flag cars that smell like smoke in the system and that the car I was getting was good. This was not the case - the car reeked! When I asked for a different car they said none was available in the same class. They only offered to wipe it and spray with Lysol. It was a holiday weekend and impossible to rent another car in short notice so had to deal with smoke smell.

Pickup way easy.

Cons:

Not charging us twice would be a start. Let’s see, there were 8 people in line at drop off and by the time it was our turn, the rental was late. They tried to charge us for the day because of it. Yeah, no. Just an absolute disaster at St. Augustine drop off. The poor kid in there had no idea what he was doing.

When we got to Tampa to pick up the car the office was closed. I called budget, they told me they close at 2 on Saturday, my pick up time. I asked if they had a car at the airport, they said no. I asked if they were open at the office on Sunday I would pick up the car on Sunday. They said they open at 9 but my car was no longer available , event though I didn't pick it up and they were closed all night. !!!! Called enterprise at the airport they got me a car immediately at the airpot. Will NEVER use you for anything. You don't even know my car wasn't picked up and I even got emails from you telling me my contract was cancelled. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

Cons:

Stay open or not accept the pickup time if you're closed DUH !

The car functioned to get me from point a to b. That is the only positive.

Cons:

Horrible customer service. Significant overcharge. Car was dirty even in pandemic - the one tine you’d expect it to be clean and pristine. Suv was awful quality for the price

Hidden expenses when you book are ridiculous. Was originally to pay 500 when I booked online. Card was charged over 1000 when I picked up.

Nothing, no customer service AT ALL!!!!!!!! It was wrong location pick up instead at the Tampa airport, the airport AVIS rep offer me the same car for the DOUBLE PRICE!!!! When I went to the pick up location, spend $40.00 on Uber, who is going to compensate my inconvenience?, the location was closed. When I called the next day, the service rep told me that car was not available and hang up the phone. Will NEVER use your service in the future and posted the same response on all the social media. Your service is horrible and the worth it could be.

Pros:

The location called one hour before the car was to be picked up an canceled the reservation. Left a voicemail. No attempt to find at another location, give a voucher for another trip. I called back a couple times and eventually gave up and decided to enjoy my vacation. Ride shares were scarce and it was extremely inconvenient. First night we didn’t have food. Very stressful experience.

The only car rental company that didn't accept our Liberty Mutual California liability limits. The total cost was over double the quoted rate. Also we got pulled over by the police due to expired plates.

Shuttle from Airport was clean, updated, and driver was courteous Phone number was answered at least ,50 percent of time by agent at the local office Downsides... There was an Extra airport surcharge that was NOT disclosed on the initial pricing for rental. I received email from company, said deposit for car was 250 with major CC, 500 with debit card, and as much as 2000 with FL residence. When requested insurance, stated policy, which was NOT disclosed in email, was that to use own Auto policy, deposit increased to 2000 for rental. Advertised vehicle was Toyota Corolla or similar... Recueved Mitsubishi hatchback... Was minimalist vehicle. On day of dropoff, front desk staff was ALSO shuttle driver, so under staffing for service also an issue.

When I arrived at Tampa Airport, I called multiple times and got a rerouted to different numbers. One number I called about 10 times with no answer. None of the people I did speak with could tell me when a shuttle would arrive to transport my family and I to the rental company. After an hour I gave up and got a rental from another company. I spoke with 2 other people in line for another company who claimed the same thing happened. 0/10 would not recommend.

Firstly, the staff was polite and professional; nice guys. They were on time in shuttling us to and from the airport (since they were off airport location but only minutes away so not inconvenient at all). Both the shuttle and car rental were clean. The registration process was easy and efficient. I would totally use them again HOWEVER, I don’t recall their website stating that the price I paid was just to reserve the car. When we got there they asked for our insurance and if it didn’t state we had 300k on Property Damage Liability (which I never heard a company having this requirement) we had to purchase theirs, no way around that. Although I had purchased extra rental coverage through a third party site which was pointless because this car rental company didn’t accept. So the car that was originally 30$ for the day ended up being almost 110$ after adding the sun pass and additional insurance. We were on a schedule to get our trip moving along smoothly so I just bit the bullet and used their services but this felt like a bait and switch tactic which is why I have a bad review. Too bad because I liked everything else about it. It would’ve just been easier, convenient and cheaper had I just used a well known rental company right inside the airport.
