Trying to rip me offPros:NothingCons:At check in , the rep quoted me the price significantly higher than what my reservation was booked at. He claimed there were taxes that were causing the difference but when I showed him the quotes reservation price, it miraculously was adjusted to the quote. The car was stinky and windshield was filthy but it got me from point A to point B. I then had an early am return before staff had arrived and used the key drop box. When I received the receipt for checkout via email, they assessed an additional $300 for supposed additional damages Upon spending another 15 minutes of hold time to get with a rep, it turned ou that they smelled the same smell and were charging a smoking damage Assessment along with taxes. We most definitely did not smoke in the car and will be disputing the charges with he credit card company. This wa the worst experience and only gave them one star because there were no negative options available in the survey.Reviewed 19 Mar. 2018

No available cars and no help with the issueCons:The service was terrible! After half an hour in line, I was given a contract, then told there were no available cars. They told me to wait until they called me (along with a number of other people who were waiting for a car). I waited another half an hour with my contract and then asked them when a car would be available. They said they didn't know. I then told them to cancel my contract with them. Pros:The staff at both pick up and drop off were very helpful.Cons:The price was more money than priceline had quoted. On priceline I clicked the option to add my spouse for no charge however when I went to pick up the rental I would have been charged $13 a day on top of the additional expenses. The staff at pick-up was one person, she did a great job but there was quite a backlog. More support for her would have helped the process go quicker.Reviewed 17 Oct. 2020

Nice servicePros:The pick up went smoothly, service was efficient.Cons:We had no difficulties, but learned important information from the Dollar agent. Our plane was several hours late and we arrived shortly after 11:00 pm. I noticed several other rental counters were closed. The Dollar agent informed us those Companies close at 10:30 pm, Dollar closed at midnight. If you arrive after a counter closes you cannot get you car. Some agencies offer 24 hour service. I think car rental agencies should inform customers of their closing time and provide some option for late arrivals.Reviewed 26 Aug. 2017

Cons:Kayak provides image saying total $70 and that’s not the case. I’m sure somewhere in the fine print it stated otherwise but who has the time. Rented car for $90 after much conversation with check out. Leave and receive e-mail saying $90 then 15 mins later another saying $145. This was the additional driver that we agreed to but the bit the price. They were good about taking that off when we checked in but it was a long back and forth considering the amount of proof we had. This was not the fault of the young lady checking us back in as she was just doing her job but manger on the phone should have waived it right away.Reviewed 16 Apr. 2018

Pros:It was clean and comfy. The staff was nice.Cons:I booked the car but declined the insurance online because you had to prepay and I wasn't sure if I needed the car for the full reservation period so I didn't want to pay for insurance for days that I didn't use. I instead thought I'd pay for coverage when I picked up the car because then I'd know for sure how many days I'd be renting for. The problem though was that the insurance was like 2 or 3x as expensive as it was online and the car cost double what I thought it would be when I originally booked it. It would be very helpful if you included language about that on your site during booking because that's a huge hidden cost. What I thought was a $150 car rental ended up being $300. Cheap DOLLAR !!Pros:Procedure set up by Dollar to check condition of the car when departure is at the exit door by THE CUSTOMER ( men I am paying for the rental car do the service!) with the pressure of the others cars behind in the queue. Badly damaged front tire is a SAFETY risk for the CUSTOMER. Poor balance of tires caused annoying noise (FOR @ WEEKS!) Car was dirty with stained seats Counter guy was arrogant and uncooperative he refused to call his manager when customer requested and said the problem of car check was to be resolved by the dispatcher in the parking lotReviewed 11 Oct. 2016

NothingPros:The fact that I never have to use them againCons:The customer service is the worst , they transfer you around to avoid dealing with you. I spent ,5 hrs on the phone trying to return my car to a different location cause of weather and snow .Car was beat up . Had the baldest tires in exsistince and no winshield wiper fluid . At first I thought it was a bad dream then realized I was in adeathtrap. Dollar rent a car cares nothing about its customers nor will they ever. Cons:Dollar rental said I picked a compact car, when I ordered a full size car. They charged me additional $20/day to upgrade, which I had to do because we absolutely needed the room. I initially chose insurance @ $9/day. When I went to pick it up they said it was $39/day, and $13/day to add an additional driver......I declined! I told them I wanted to rent the car for an additional day because I may be delayed due to weather and didn't want to bring it back late. I was told that was not a problem, the extra day would be deducted if I brought it back early....,..I brought the car back early and at first, they wanted to charge me for the additional day. I argued and they took it off. They also charged me a Early Return Fee of $25. I went to the front desk and after about 15 minutes of discussion, they reversed the $25. I asked what kind of car was available and they said whatever was back there....they didn't know. When I walked out into the lot, there were only 2 Hyunai (??) Sonatas there. Car wasn't clean and was full of snow and not warmed up. The lot was not plowed/shoveled (snow). I did a walk-around and identified several dents and paint nicks on the car. I was told don't worry about it.......I asked the person to sign my report so I would have a record, which he did.....he didn't want his copy. The car was ok but the customer service was really bad. I will say that the woman that initially checked the car in when I brought it back was friendly and professional. I have rented a lot of cars in the past, and this has been my worst experience. I would not recommend Dollar Rental @ Cleveland Airport to anyone.Reviewed 15 Dec. 2016

Pros:Not a thing, they changed my reservation and put up a hell of a fight to refund.Cons:They could have not changed my reservation and then refuse to give me a refund. They are a bait and switch sham of an operation. Directly to Avis.com saved money, got a better car and no hassle with extended hours. Dollar and kayak can pound sand!Reviewed 26 Jun. 2021

Cons:I waited an hour for the car. It was the wrong car even though I paid extra for it. I had to switch to a different car due to the cigarette smell and low pressure in the tire. There were extra fees that I did not know about.Reviewed 23 May 2021
