Pros:Staff was friendly at the counter but the agency was horrible. Ended up having to go to another vendor to obtain a vehicle.Cons:This is one of two car rental agencies that insists that you pay for the insurance policy even though you have other comprehensive coverage - this effectively doubles the cost of the rental. This was not apparent on the website. The staff person I dealt with indicated that it was present in "very very fine print." Both I and the person ahead of me who also appeared to be a seasoned traveler then had to make alternate arrangements. This cost me an additional two hours at the airport when I had a long drive to make after a long flight.Reviewed 23 Oct 2019

Pros:Drop off was super easy, but pick up took a hour and I did not wait in a line.Cons:The terms of agreement for Dollar (Germany) mandate that you purchase their insurance - if you used a credit card for your rental. The insurance is an “option” that must be added at the counter and as it is an “option” is is not included in any quote. It doesn’t matter what other insurance you haveReviewed 14 June 2019

Germany rental for two weeksPros:Car was a Hertz, new RenaultCons:The very small print that the guy at the counter put in front of my, saing that I need to take full CDW despite my Wolrd Elite Master card. That was a pain to start our vacation with, since I spent 3 hours to argue and in the end I had to call several times in Canada to have the bank transfer me to the insurance company to have a letter specifically stating that the credit card in hand is covering me and not someone else with the CDW. Third world experience in Germany, I would not expect that, but Hertz seemed to want badly every one of my dollars. Will no longer rent with Dollar/Hertz and will say around me the story so people are aware.Reviewed 11 June 2018

Reservation means nothingPros:That we finally received a car.Cons:I made a reservation weeks in advanced yet the day of, there weren't any cars available due to events in the city. I'm sure the cars got rented out at a higher rate to walk in customers that did have a reservation. We had to wait at the airport for 3.5 hours after 2 long flights. And we weren't the only ones. A lot of people were in the same boat as us. If I ever use hertz/dollar again I won't bother making a reservation as it means nothing, apparently. Also, our final bill was more than quoted and we were not notified of the early closing time at the drop off location. Although, this is not surprising as the agents at the pickup location could barely do their jobs due to so many upset customers, waiting.Reviewed 28 Sept 2017

MisrepresentationPros:When I attempted to pick up the car I was informed that the credit card I used was insufficient and I'd have to purchase the additional insurance. Beware Dollar and Rental.comPros:The car was new, low mileage, and comfortable.Cons:When we arrived the rental car agent acted like they didn't have a record of our rental even though we had the confirmation number with us for her use. Then she said we were late. We'd requested our car for pickup at a 3:00 pm but our outbound flight was delayed by 1.5 hours. In the end, to get a car we were charged double the confirmed rental price. Ridiculous!Reviewed 28 July 2017

Very very disappointedPros:NoneCons:- Charging for local insurance costing almost double the rental price, although I bought insurance already with my booking. - Staff was not knowledgeable, not friendly, and extremely rude. I mentioned I am Hertz gold member and a holder of a platinum AMEX card and that still didn't waive the local insurance, although the agent said in the beginning of the conversation that it would. - After going through all the hassles and finally figuring out what the agent wants. There were no automatic cars available and the agent refused to offer an upgrade and asked to wait a couple of hours till there are automatic cars available. - I called the booking phone number to escalate, got a Hertz agent on the phone and she said she couldn't locate my reservation to resolve the problem. - A wast of money and time. Never again with Dollar and probably not with the parent company Hertz either. Not my first disappointing experience with Hertz Germany though.Reviewed 10 July 2017

Royal RIPOFF! STAY AWAYPros:NOTHING!Cons:Made reservation with Dollar for quoted total at FRA. When i arrived Hertz claimed my credit card did not cover the "mandatory" extra insurance (it was fine for another ~10 car rentals at FRA airport in the past year) and forced my to buy insurance for $15 or so per day, I lost almost $200. They even had the gall to tell me that the extra insurance offered by Kayak would have been a waste and I would have been forced to get their BS insurance anyhow.Reviewed 4 May 2017

OverchargingPros:Not much...Cons:I was given much trouble about proving my credit card covered insurance. I will never rent from Dollar again because I go through the same thing every time. The rental is very expensive and I got an inferior car to what I had reserved. At first he tried to pass off to me this huge, clunky van that was Far bigger than what I have reserved; when I complained and asked for an intermediate size car they gave me a smaller car and charge me the same price.
