Bad car assistantPros:The car needed a jump start and when I called the company after hours they told me I didn't pay for road side assistance which by the way I was offered to pay for ez pass extra insurance and even fuel refill but something as important as road assistance it wasn't offered at all. When I called after hours, I was told it will cost me 200 dollars or to wait for the next day and call a closer office in Isabella saying it would be a bit cheaper. Eventually because I couldn't wait till the next day, I had payed a guy 25 dollars to jump start it. I'll never go with Dollar againPros:The airport shuttle was ok, drop off was easy.Cons:I was told I had to take at least the basic insurance bc of "Puerto Rico laws" which I found out that wasn't true. Ended up paying twice as much as what KAYAK quoted (understable to go up a little since we got the toll pass but $107 to $227 is extreme). When I called Dollar's customer service, it took forever for me to get the customer service representative to understand exactly what I was calling about. After a long hold, he told me I had to go back to the location to get it sorted. Complete waste of time. The car itself was ok, but not without its issues (I.e. radio didn't work if defroster was on).Reviewed 11 Dec. 2016

Many hidden charges - DO NOT rent from this companPros:The second car provided did not brake-downCons:Rental company does not care about the car they are providing you. My first car was misaligned to the extent that when I did a turn, the car pulled me to the right. I came back to the dealer and they replaced it after some "tantrums" from their representative. They also spend more time making joke among themselves than caring about good customer service. My bill increased from $550.99 (online) to $886.15 (outdoor) after many hidden (not disclosed) charged when online purchase was done. Hidden charges -PER DAY- were: SLI $10.95; TRPP $1.95; TRANSP REC FEE 8.75%; City Tax 1%; Vehicle license fee $0.94; Energy Rec Fee $1; Facility Usage Fee $2.89; Maint Fee 0.5%; State tax 10.5%; AET $4.95.Reviewed 6 Dec. 2015

Rude Staff; Dirty CarPros:I guess the car got decent mileage.Cons:The car wasn't vacuumed, it smelled of the precious renter's cheap cologne, the windows were dirty, there was bird poop all on the exterior, the gear shift was chipped and uncomfortable to hold and the tires were low on air. I had to refill them in order to make it back to the lot. In addition, the check-in process was disorganized and long and the drop off it was almost impossible to get the attention of the agent who took my information and receipt. She went away for 10 minutes and later came back saying she was tired before she wandered away to talk to a coworker. I had to insistently ask if I was done with the process and it was ok to leave. I will definitely pay more for a different company. The rental wasn't worth a "Dollar".Reviewed 24 May 2017

Not fun experiencePros:I got a carCons:The whole process with getting a car with dollar was not good. Starting from the shuttle, we waited more than 45 minutes at the airport. Once there, the lines we're not only long, but they had only two people helping with giving out cars, who took forever. Despite seeing the long lines, 2 men were chilling in their offices watching the chaos. Once we got to counter, the price I was to pay for the rental more than doubled from my reservation price. When asked why, I was told that this is how it is in Puerto Rico. Once I got the car, it felt like it was not maintained at all. The car was smelly so they had put an air freshener in it that made it smell worse. The second day I had the car, the oil light came out. Gave up my rental to someone else!Pros:I didn't like anything about my visit because they didn't give me a car even though I had a reseevation for several months. They blamed you guys for not making me aware of their 2 hour policy of no shows. I got there 2 1/2 hours after my reservation was supposed to start.Cons:These people don't care about anybody. They gave up my car rental to someone else even though I showed up within 2 1/2 hours of my rental time. The rental was supposed to be for about $60 for a couple of days. Instead, they wanted to charge me $250 for a larger car because that is all they had. They never gave me a courtesy call and claimed to not even have my phone number when I gave that information when making the reservation. I even showed them the confirmation with my info on it, but they still claimed to not even have it. When I told them they needed to make it right because I was unaware of this policy and none of my paperwork mentioned it, they said I should have gone to their website and it is all Kayak's fault. I told them it was their responsibility to make sure that Kayak had the important information to give to customers, but they were having none of it. We ended up walking out of there with nothing and walked to the nearest other car rental places. At that point, they were all charging around $250 for rentals, if they even had a car left. This was a nightmare experience. It threw off our whole morning's plans as we had to figure this situation out. I will never rent from Dollar again and I don't think I will be using Kayak either. Inaccurate Cost EstimatePros:Shuttle service was efficient. Front desk processed pick-up and drop-off in a timely fashion. Car was in good condition.Cons:I don't know if the fault is with the carrentals.com the website that processed my reservation, or with Dollar rent-a-car, but the following two issues were not good. The predicted cost was less than half of what I was quoted. I expect there to be some additional fees, but for those fees to more than double the predicted cost is unacceptable. Also, when I was using carrentals.com to make my reservation I entered my flight info, but the website would not allow me to enter a specific arrival time. I was limited to 12:00 noon. So when I arrived to pick-up the vehicle an hour or two after 12:00pm I was informed that they rented my reserved economy vehicle to someone else since I was late, forcing me to pay out of pocket for upgrading to a midsize vehicle. Reserving online is convenient but be wary. Don't let either of these surprises happen to you.Reviewed 17 Jul. 2017
