Pros:Friendly staff.Cons:They tried to blame me for damage that was on the car when I picked it up. Good thing I always take pictures!Reviewed 11 Sept 2019

Insurance madnessCons:My credit card covered rental insurance fully and Europcar asked for an email from my bank/credit card company before giving me the car. I had to call my credit card provider and have them send an email to Europcar. Pretty damn ridiculous. All told, I wasted three hours getting all this sorted, and even after I finally got them what they needed, they put a EURO 5,000 authorization charge on my account, an obscene amount for a one-week rental. Also: There's a 25 EURO airport surcharge that I was never made aware of, and a 35 EURO charge to travel into Northern Ireland, which I also wasn't made aware of until the time of payment. I recommend you book elsewhere, because a Google search tells me that not all car rental companies charge for traveling into Northern Ireland.Reviewed 6 Sept 2018

Rental Quote and Actual Price and Car NOT THE SAMEPros:The car was grey.Cons:Upon arrival in Dublin we were shuttled to an outside airport location. The quoted vehicle was not available, altho we had reserved it several months ahead. In fact they said Dublin NEVER carries that model (a 9 passenger van). So we were given a smaller (7 pax) vehicle which was way too small for our 6 adults to enjoy for a week. The quoted price was 1/4 of what they ended up charging. We had insurance but they would not accept it and required we pay the Europcar offered policy. We have rented in many other countries without all the insurance demands. We would never have booked with them if the initial quote had been correct as other vendors had just what we wanted. Europcar is a real RIPOFF.Reviewed 3 July 2018

Insurance was priceyPros:Agent at airport was very helpful.Cons:Insurance charges should be stated more clearly when booking. Insurance was nearly three times the price of the car. Car smelled like someone had been smoking in it.Reviewed 6 June 2018

No any insurancePros:I. Didn't like anything.Cons:The booking made on kayak did not include any basic insurance, absolutely nothing, which is illegal. That's why kayak gave me low price. So when i arrived to the airport i was told that i didn't have any insurance. So they cancelled the booking and offered me a car for the same price but with insurance. I will never ever again use kayak and i will strongly recommend never to use it.Reviewed 4 Apr 2018

Perfect car for our tripPros:Small but fun car for cruising around Ireland. Great gas mileage with diesel and manual shift was crucial for backroads.Cons:I told them no coverage but they wouldn’t really take no for an answer and it doubled the cost so really paid WAY too much.Reviewed 26 Mar 2018

Cons:The MANDATORY insurance fees are absolutely ridiculous. On-wed scammed into thinking that the car rental fee was $4 per day and the insurance cost, which I booked online was another $30 per day. When I arrived, they forced me to pay all insurances or leave a $1,500 deposit, which I wasn't prepared for. The also require me to purchase the full tank of gas, which was 107 Euro, but said it would be refunded upon return if the tank was full. According to the quote thru Budget/Kayak, at the time of booking, it should have cost me approx 250USD. It ended up costing me over 800USD. I returned the car clean, full of fuel, and not a single scratch. I will NEVER rent thru Budget again, neither overseas or domestically!Reviewed 20 Feb 2018

Pros:The carCons:They did not have the car size for the amount we reserved. So we were up Sold to a $600 car. Also kayak advertised the car we reserved as $100’dollars for the week and that was not what we were told at time of arrival they said it was $400 and we had to ultimately pay $600 up front. This is the last time I will book a car thru kayak.Reviewed 3 Nov 2017

First time renting outside of the USAPros:Easy pick up and drop off and the staff was friendly. They patiently waited while we contacted our CC cards ref the insurance coverage.Cons:We had requested an automatic, but Europecar could not find our upgrade request, so we got stuck with what was available which was a BMW. In their defence, we never got a confirmation for our upgrade request, so it might not have been their fault. Our big mistake was not verifying with our credit cards that insurance would be covered. Our AX, MC and Visa did not provide insurance in Ireland, so we had to buy EuropCars insurance and it's not cheap. The total cost of 3 week rental of a BMW X1 SUV diesel was $1400 pounds. Do your homework and if you have a written agreed upon price make the rental company stick to it.Reviewed 28 Sept 2017

Cons:My contract price was 139 euros for the week. When I got there to rent, they would not rent to me unless I paid 45 euros per DAY for insurance -- that's triple the price I thought I was going to pay.Reviewed 20 Aug 2017
